What's in a name?

There was something amazing about helping to set up a tiny bath for a Bitty, and figuring out temporary clothes for them, while Geno washed, and tried, to repair their original clothes.

The Bitty itself was happily buried in a pile of bubbles while they bathed themselves.

Goth happily chirped as he knit a tiny towel, and housecoat, for the Bitty, pajamas were next. Finally, the skills that he learned as Error were useful.

The Bitty seemed to be calm right now.

"Do you want pajamas like mine, they're kitty themed?" He asked, as he moved onto the night wear.

They chirped.

"What color?"

They pointed at a black t-shirt.

Goth nodded his skull, and he pulled out the correct colors.

They peeped.

"Do you know your name yet?" He asked them.

They pointed at Goth.

"Your name is Goth too? Do you want a nickname to use, if we're both here?" He asked, concerned.

The Bitty Goth nodded their head.

"How about... Searcher? I have no idea where that came from."

Searcher chirped.

"Okay, Searcher it is. And I'll be Shades." He said, brightly.

Searcher happily splashed some water.

"You should get out soon, you're clean, and the water is getting cold." Goth suggested.

Searcher pouted as they pulled themselves out of the water.

Goth passed him pajamas, ten minutes later, as they watched knit them while they were wearing a housecoat as he did so.

The Bitty started to purr once they were dry, and in warm pajamas.

Giggling, Goth changed into his purple kitty pyjamas.

Searcher peeped.

"Yeah, time to sleep." Shades yawned, turning the overhead lamp off, and then crawled into bed, making sure that Searcher had plenty of places to sleep.

Searcher curled up, into a ball, before they dozed off.

It was the best sleep in months.

----

Shades heard something shuffling when he woke up.

"Searcher?" He said, groggily.

"It's me sweetie." His Mama said. "How are you feeling?"

"Mm..." He managed, ready to go back to sleep.

Geno chuckled, gently rubbing the top of his son's skull.

"Sleeeeeppp." He said, pulling his covers up, and over, his skull.

"How's your friend doing Sweetie?"

A purple eyelight opened, and looked around, spotting Searcher curled up, against his chest.

"Sleep." Was his answer.

Geno cooed. "Awww... What's their name?"

Goth said their name, even if it was said via a yawn. He really wasn't awake.

"They're a Goth Bitty?"

"Mmm... "

"I'll leave you to go back to sleep then."

There wasn't a reply this time, as Goth was happily catching up on much needed sleep.

Geno smiled when he saw this.

----

Two Goths ate breakfast, one big, and one small.

They wore matching pajamas, even if they weren't the same color.

"Bacon's the best." Goth hummed, happily.

His new friend was viciously chewing on the bacon, making little growls as they chewed their way through it.

"Eggs good too." Goth hummed, passing a piece up to Searcher.

They chirped, taking the piece of egg and shoving it into their mouth, enjoying their breakfast.

"Mama, Bitty plates exist, right?" Shade asked Geno, curiously, it wasn't right for their new friend to not have cutlery.

"They do." Geno scowled. "But they're either expensive as hell, or too low quality to be used on a daily basis."

"That's not cool, wait... who says that we have to buy Bitty plates? Doesn't the Barbie dreamhouse have a working kitchen that you can buy separately?" He said, thoughtfully, he did have enough gold to buy it.

His new friend made a snarl when they heard his words about Barbie.

Geno chuckled. "I think that your new friend doesn't like the idea of having a kitchen that was made for female Babybones Gothy, or they don't like the brand."

"Aw... I just thought of it because the plates are always good quality, and the kitchen appliances work." He said, downcast.

They chirped, and patted Goth's cheek.

"They might already have their own version of plates Gothy." Geno said. "We have never seen a Goth Bitty before, and I don't think that they're available to adopt anywhere. They might be one of a kind."

"Do you?" Goth asked, curiously, and if they didn't, maybe he could trying making some.

Woodcarving wasn't that hard, he just hadn't done it since his early days as Error.

Searcher chirped, nodding their skull.

"That's good, everyone should have plates that are the right size for them." Shades chirped, happily.

"We can just deal with them not using plates until they've recovered enough to use their version of plates." Geno smiled.

"Mama, do we have some wood, and a carving knife? I can carve him some, I think that I saw some varnish in the storage?" He asked, frowning. He looked the most animated that they had seen him be in months. He actually wanted to do things!

"If we don't, I can get you some." Geno wanted to cry, this was the most animated that his son had been since they got him back!

"Is there anything else you need Searcher, clothes are easy for me to make." He asked the Bitty.

Searcher shook their skull.

"Okay, just tell me if you do."

They chirped.

"Let's finish breakfast, and I'll see if we have what you need." Geno smiled. "And remember to introduce your new friend to your Dad when he wakes up Sweetie."

"Okay Mama." Shades chirped.

Geno smiled as he passed another plate of breakfast food to his son.

"I'm full Mama." He admitted, his stomach was not quite used to having full meals again, yet...

"Okay." Geno smiled, chuckling when Searcher stole a bit of bacon from the plate, and they started to munch on it. "I'll save it for the next Skeleton that wants breakfast."

"You mean Papa, the coffee fiend?"

"Yes... The coffee fiend."

"Searcher, I'm going to have a shower. Do you want to come with me, stay here, or go to our room?" Shade asked, he had forgotten to take one last night.

Searcher chirped, and they made grabby hands at the food.

"Have fun." He giggled, putting Searcher on the table, before he slipped away to get clean.

Searcher peeped, and they continued to munch on the food.

At that point, Reaper arrived, and freaked out, thinking that his son had shrunk.

Geno broke out laughing.

Searcher happily started to chirp, loudly, at Reaper.

"You know what.. I'm going back to bed." Reaper said, once it was explained that Goth had not been shrunk.

Searcher sadly warbled at Reaper.

"Nothing against you kid, just.. a lot of stress lately." Reaper told him.

Searcher warbled, again.

"I have no idea what you're saying, but I do need sleep... long list later." He said, heading back to bed.

Searcher pouted.

Soon enough, a clean Shades returned.

Searcher was still pouting.

"What's wrong?" Shade asked, worried.

"They're rather upset that your Papa didn't stick around, and went back to bed." Geno told them.

"Big Reaping list?" Shades asked, knowing that Papa could sleep for a few days, if the list was huge.

Geno nodded their skull.

"Come on Ser, he'll have time, in a few days."

Searcher warbled.

Shade sighed, but he wasn't going to wake Papa up.

Searcher sulked as they soullessly started to munch on some bacon again.

Shades sighed, again.

Geno sighed. "Someone's a Daddy's boy..." He chuckled.

Shades's eyesocket twitched, well this day just went weird.

Geno blinked. "Why did I suddenly say that?"

"Two Goths, one Papa, how will this work?" Shades mumbled.

"This should be interesting." Geno chuckled.

"But really, there's not enough Reapers." He muttered, still in his own world.

----

Searcher: hearing what the prices, and quality, for plates that someone his size can use are...

Searcher: "That is outrageous! Despicable! Who came up with that idea?! I will tear them apart for that! I shall teach them why you should never con us out of money!"

Searcher: hears the word 'Barbie'...

Searcher: "Oh hell no... I still have pride!"

Later...

Searcher: sees the big Reaper

Searcher: "Papa! Give me head scratchies!"

Reaper: goes to bed

Searcher: pouts and is upset

Geno: unknowingly channels Searcher's Mama
