Chapter 2: The Outlet

Keefe POV

"No."

Dex sat in the middle of his bed, hugging his potions and elixirs tightly to his chest, like I might steal them. His periwinkle eyes were stubbornly set, and his eyebrows pointed downwards. I spun around in his fluffy blue spinny chair, a sad puppy-like look on my face.

"Dexxxxxxx." I begged, "I need the elixirs. For pranks! Don't do it for me, do it for pranks!"

"No, and I honestly don't care, Keefe." Dex held his head high. "I don't do special offers. Plus, the items you listed are expensive."

"Dexy-boy, you know how much good I've done you in the past." I smiled evilly.

"You can't guilt trip me into giving you free stuff. You need lusters." Dex shook his head, my charm useless to him.

"Please, Dex. I would do anything to get even ONE of those potions." I begged, my lip stuck out.

"Yeah, well I can't think of anything that I want to make you do, so nah." Dex waved me off. "Have fun doing some odd jobs to make up the lusters."

"Dexxxxxxx." I groaned as he pushed me out of his bedroom.

Dex gave me one final shove as he launched me into the hallway. "And when you do, I'll gladly hand over some ingredients for disaster."

"Dex I-" And the door clicked shut.

I sighed and leaned against the hallway of the Dizznee's home.

"Well, he seems like a dead end." Ro said, as she twirled a sickening looking dagger around like a pencil.

"Tell me about it." I blew points of blonde hair out of my face in frustration. "Why does everything cost money these days?"

"I'm not sure, Keefe." Ro scraped her teeth with the edge of her blade, "You only seemed to realize this when you didn't have any."

"Whatever." I shrugged. "I'll just go to Candleshade tomorrow and search for old forgotten supplies."

"Tomorrow's school." Ro pointed out.

"Ah, but we can pretend not to know that, can't we?" I smiled mischievously.

"Tomorrow's Monday." Ro said. "You think I'm stupid, blondie?"

I batted my eyelashes, "No, but I'm hoping that your soft spot for chaos would override your sense of what day it'd be."

"That's cute." Ro smirked, "but nothing can override the sense of what would make me lose my job."

I groaned. "How am I ever going-"

"You can go after school, Keefe. Let's go back to Solace." She patted me on the shoulder.

"Fine, but the second school is over, I want to be there." I pulled out my home crystal.

"Whatever, Princess." Ro shook her head as we went into the light.
