World of our Own [23: Memories]

"And that, my darling girl, was how Maman and papa beat their first villain, the first of many." Chat Noir bent down and placed a kiss onto his daughter's wonderful baby smelling head, taking a deep inhale as he did so. Seriously, if someone had told him babies smelt this good he would have had one a lot sooner.

"I'm not sure that's exactly how it happened?"

He looked over to their bedroom balcony door opening and his Lady returning from patrol. She looked glorious back in her costume, the curves from Emma's presence in her body just made him want her more; the fact she was still breastfeeding was quite the turn on too...not the act! He wasn't into that, but the added bonus of Marinette's...well...

"I think you'll find it was exactly what happened, Emma. Maman just tends to blank some of the story out," he announced, his words taking on that of baby talk, as he ignored Ladybug and spoke to Emma instead. If he wanted to save the damsel in distress from the big rock monster then that was what was going to happen.

The young infant gurgled and made some strange baby noises.

"I knew you'd believe me," he cooed, stroking the back of one finger over her cheek, "that's why you're my favourite."

"Woah," Ladybug vented, moving closer to the snuggled pair, "it only took three months for her to completely replace me as your favourite."

"How cute! Your Maman thought it took months for her to be replaced where you've been my favourite since the moment you were born." He looked into his wife's eyes, his expressive face showing no jest as she rolled her eyes in return. "I love you," he said, pouting towards her in want of a kiss.

"Yeah, well, I kinda like you too." She bent down and pressed her lips to her husbands, before sitting on the arm of the chair. "Why are you suited, Minou?"

"Oh...well, Plagg has been trying to feed Emma Camembert and Xuppu has been stealing her dummy."

"And where's Xuppu?" she asked, looking around the room.

"He's thinking things through on the naughty step,O Plagg was giving me a little too much lip." Chat smiled back, Ladybug letting out a little giggled before pressing a kiss on her daughter's head.

"Well, aren't you just 'the super daddy'. There's me thinking you were purring her to sleep again."

"Nope," he exclaimed, "I told you, we can't keep helping her to sleep. You have to do it yourself, don't you cupcake? Or Maman and papa don't get to have any fun."

"Kitty!" she hissed, only for him to break out laughing, her hand punching him quite aggressively in the shoulder.

"That's animal abuse."

"And that's a joke you've told one too many times." She punctuated the sentence with another jab to his shoulder.

They smiled at each other before turning their attention back to the tiny bundle Chat was holding wrapped in her favourite yellow blanket. She'd just began to smile, and everytime her lips made the tiniest turn upwards his heart broke into a rendition of 'All you need is love'.

"How are you feeling about the weekend?" Ladybug pulled him out of the second chorus and back to reality.

He looked up towards her, his smile (impossibly) elongating even more.

"I can't wait to be back on the court, and having you there is just going to be amazing. I can't believe I finally get to show you off to the world." He was gushing like a teenage boy but he didn't care in the slightest.

"I just wish I wasn't still caring around this kangaroo pouch." She patted her stomach under her costume, and Chat knew how glad she was that Tikki could hide her perfect imperfections. Not only was this weekend a big one for Adrien in terms of playing. It was massive in the fact it was 'The Agreste's' first public appearance, Adrien having both Marinette and Emma by his side.

"You're beautiful," he said, "don't we think Maman's beautiful, Emma?" Turning the child around, Chat held the infant up to look at his wife, her head falling into her neck producing adorable little baby chub rolls. Obviously not too happy but the movement, the young child proceeded to spit up all over her father's hands.

Laughing, Ladybug took Emma into a cradle whilst Chat wiped his hand off. She shushed the child, gently rocking her backwards and forwards in her arms.

Ladybug looked down at her daughter, the tell tale blonde hairs a prominent feature on her head as her eyes were morphing from baby blue to another colour, a colour linking so much to her papa it was ridiculously obvious who'd fathered this child.

She couldn't understand how Emma had ended up with the colourings; she held the dominant genes after all, it just didn't seem to make sense. Though, in her teenage years she had always pictured having a baby Adrien and now she had one that was hers. She still pinched herself every morning, it all was a dream come true; poopy nappies and all.

"Can you remember your first game at Stanford?" Ladybug started absentmindedly, stroking over Emma's baby hair.

"How can I forget?" Chat laughed, coming back to sit on the chair and pulling Ladybug onto his lap. "I told you I was only a bench warmer yet you still begged to come and stay with me."

"Alya and Nino told me I was silly for spending all that money to come out and see you, that you'd told us time and time again that you wouldn't be playing. But it was you, and I was madly in love with you and hadn't seen you in about two months."

He pressed a kiss into her neck, her body moulding into his as he then continued to pepper her with little snippets of love. He didn't speak, allowing her to recall the memory, and she knew he was thinking the same as her.

"I remember as soon as you were called onto the court I FaceTimed Alya and Nino, not giving a crap that it woke them up. I was so damn proud of you, and then you went on to score what? 21 points with 6 assists?"

"You know my stats better than I do," he laughed; pressing another kiss to her cheek this time, his hand reaching to join hers on their daughter's head.

"I never forgot any, I kept– keep – them written in my diary."

They sat in silence both fawning over their most precious possession, when Chat Noir broke the silence with words that both stunned and shocked her.

"I was going to ask you out that week," he said, as though he had just announced the sky was blue, not that he was going to ask her something that would have completely changed their history; for better or worse, she didn't know, unsure that if she'd caved and said yes they would be here, married and with Emma, today.

"Why didn't you?" she asked shyly, looking into her partner's eyes and wondering the reason.

"Can you remember I'd taken you to that house party? The one where you first experienced a Piña Colada?"

"How could I forget?" she laughed, that party had turned Marinette into a legend amongst the Stanford boys, each one wanting her socials and also the chance to 'chat' with her.

"Well I was all prepared. I was going to take you to this park, it was beautiful and we were going to sit on the cast iron bench as I serenade you with my words, not my singing obviously, but yeah, I was going to ask you if you'd be willing to try and make this work between us - even with the distance."

"Oh, Chat," Ladybug turned her head, pressing a kiss against her husband's cheek.

"I know it was wishful thinking with the long distance and all, but I thought if anyone could make it work it would be us. Then that night, when you were drunk, you told me you were worried our friendship wouldn't last, that a long distance friendship was too hard to keep. You went all psychological on me explaining the pros and cons of distant friendships. You put ours in the best friends category with a deep emotional connection, and said I would be the most stained. I just couldn't risk it then, drunk Marinette would have broken on me I think."

"Damn, how much had I drunk?" she laughed.

"Enough to give me an emotional run down of the depths of our friendship. You were ridiculous, but you were right, if we'd messed it up or pressured ourselves we may not have made it here today." He looked at her, his stare nothing but devious. "Then you gave me this kiss."

"No I did not!"

"Yes you did, you literally shoved your tongue down my throat," he clarified. She didn't want to believe him, but it seemed drunk Marinette had her own ideas on life.

"You're lying."

"Why would I lie?" He laughed, her eyes narrowing in on him. "I know you don't like liars. Poor Luka's still trying to remove his wedgie from last Christmas."

"Ugh, he deserved it."

The two started laughing, causing Emma to stir in Marinette's arms.

"Is that why none of the guys would speak to me when I came over to see you?" She watched his cheeks grow pink at the accusation.

"They kind of thought you were my girlfriend, and I didn't deny it."

Ladybug snorted before moving a now squirming Emma around in her arms. "You're such a fool." She giggled, Emma moving around once more. "Time to feed again. Spots off." Tikki flew out of her earrings, spiralling around her head and straight into the cookie jar. Marinette stood, taking Emma to the rocking chair and settling in, baby in arms as she arranged her top for Emma to feed.

"Are you going to release Plagg?" Marinette asked, watching as Chat made himself more comfortable on the chair.

"Nope, he's still in 'time out'."

"Ha! Okay then, but you're dealing with the grump once you release him," she laughed, and Chat just shrugged in response, before turning and smiling at her.

"Did you enjoy your break?" he asked, crossing one leg over the other.

"I don't want to sound like a bad mother, but I loved it. It felt so good to be me again. I mean, I love Emma but..."

"No, I get it. You don't need to defend yourself to me."

"I love you," she said with a bright smile.

"I love you too."

They continued to sit in silence, Emma breaking the void every now and then with little toots sounding from her tush, as she fed and trumped, usually followed by...well...unless Emma had pooped whilst she'd been out patrolling it was definitely Chat's turn.

"I had a magazine reporter ask me about you the other day, wanting to know all about my raven haired model."

"Model, eh? Well, I don't want to sound too big headed but..."

Before she could finish the sentence, Emma strained. Not only causing unprofound noises to leave her mouth but also a clear raspy noise from her bottom followed by a squelch.

It seems it was time to finally free Plagg from his uncomfortable position in the ring and for Adrien to change a nappy.
