When It Isn't Like It Should Be [20: Birthday]

Eight months later...

"Don't be bemused, it's just the news.

Recent reports have come through that Ladybug is flying frantically through the city.

Citizen's of Paris have said she seems in a panicked state, one we haven't seen since Gabriel Agreste's release over a year ago when Chat Noir had rampaged through the streets. Though no evidence of foul play is noted at this time we are asking all citizens to remain on guard and keep an eye on 'The Ladyblog' for any updates or announcements.

In other 'super' news, Gabriel Agreste has once again been locked up pending sentence. It seems threatening the pregnant heroine broke all of his parole rights and brought chaos to the streets of Paris. It seems the citizens of the city had taken their anger out on the Agreste Manor, spray painting graffiti and breaking windows. However it's not just that has been sent down for unlawful actions. Mayor Bourgeois has been stripped of his place in congress and will face trial himself for forgery and money laundering, in conjunction with Gabriel Agreste's premature release.

Both the courts AND the press apologise to Ladybug and Chat Noir, and hope the heroes can forgive such a lack of justice.

Nadja Chamack, for TVi news."

"Where the hell is it?" Ladybug flew over Paris at the speed of light, checking every single place she'd visited in the last 24 hours, actually make that the last 48 hours, even though she knew for a fact she had it on her only a day earlier.

She started off at her parent's boulangerie dropping Emma there before transforming and continuing her search. Next she scoured her new amazing office building, their new amazing home (her grandfather's old house, renovations finally all complete and an absolute masterpiece) plus Alya and Nino's apartment and 'The Liberty', yet she was still coming up empty handed, or as she should really say, empty fingered.

Her wedding ring had gone walkabout, and she hadn't got a clue where too? She knew she was wearing it yesterday, she knew she hadn't taken it off...well, she thought she hadn't. Emma was a year old now, there's no way baby brain could still be a reason for the forgetfulness. (And no, she wasn't pregnant again. She'd already checked that one - twice.)

Marinette was heartbroken, she adored her ring and hated the fact she'd lost it. Adrien, of course, was being his calm, charming self; telling her not to worry, he'd explained it was insured and not one of a kind so he could get her another one exactly the same. No harm done. But that wouldn't be her ring! He didn't seem to get it.

So where was the ring? She searched over the rooftops with a fine tooth comb, even checking down some chimney's just in case, determined to get it back. She'd been out for a run yesterday lunchtime with Chat Noir and they'd stopped to grab an ice cream before both heading back to their respective jobs. Ladybug had already questioned André and she was tempted to dive to the depths of the Seine to see if they would unveil its hiding place. Seriously, where was it?

Dropping down near the Trocadéro Gardens, she began to walk, scanning the floor for any glint of her perfect, expensive and highly valuable ring. She knew there would be little to no hope in finding it, not now, after all the ring was worth an incredible sum of money and would be an easy steal, especially if they thought it was Marinette Agreste's; the fashion world's hottest topic who happened to be married to the sporting world's hottest star; because Adrien Agreste was hot in more ways than one. Even with him now being a father it just seemed to have made him all the more desirable.

Making her way further down the gardens, she stopped in her tracks to look up at the billboard peering over her. Once again, 'the' Adrien Agreste was hot news in Paris and not just because his father was a psycho who attempted to kill a pregnant superhero. He was hot in his own right, a beautiful human being and one hell of a basketball player. And there he was, all big and looming with those wonderful green eyes calling all women in the area to come to bed. He was kitted out in 'Nike' sportswear, his newest multi million euro endorsement deal which has been fundamental to setting up a fund for those affected by his father; he even had his own sneakers.

He once again Adrien was Paris' sweetheart, but not as much as his daughter. His daughter who was a diva in the making and who, at the moment, was being blamed for the loss of the ring because she knew full well she hadn't lost it.

Emma had hit the toddler stage and as cute as she looked to those around her, Ladybug couldn't help but wonder if Emma had been swapped with another child, because the kid was feral. She had the tantrums down to a tee, and considering Adrien had followed every parenting book to the letter when she was a baby, as soon as her personality broke free at about five months old, she had him wrapped around her little finger.

Ladybug turned her head from her husband's huge attractive face and full kissable lips, complete with vest top lifted and being used to wipe his forehead (damn his abs were something else) and continued her search. It was the floor she should be looking at, not her husband's six pack which she saw in real life daily.

Head focused on the ground she didn't realise she'd walked head first into someone else. A 'umpf' was heard before a clatter to the ground, Ladybug's head shooting up to find out who she'd just banged in to.

"Sorry...Sabrina?"

Laying on the floor in front of her was Sabrina Raincomprix, someone she hadn't seen in years.

"It's fine," Sabrina said, her voice sounding a little winded. "I was just coming over to see if you wanted any help?"

Ladybug hadn't seen the girl in years, the last she heard, Sabrina had finally ditched Chloé and had moved to Prague to live with a guy she'd met on 'Tinder', which made her curious as to why she was back. She thought she remembered reading on Instagram that she'd started her own event planning business, mainly birthdays and weddings, apparently she was getting quite the name for herself too.

"It's good to see you," Ladybug greeted, holding out a hand to help her up. Sabrina took it, her face showing gratitude at the heroine's actions.

"Yes, it's been a while," Sabrina said, brushing herself down.

Ladybug smiled at her old school acquaintance only to remember that right at this moment she was Ladybug and not Marinette. Coughing, she went back into professional mode and considered what she should say? She supposed the truth wouldn't be too bad, not if she could mix it up a little.

"Marinette Agreste has lost her wedding ring, and I have been asked to help find it." See, done! Everything would be fine.

"Oh really, well, I know a little something about -"

"Ladybug, there you are, I've been looking everywhere for you. I need your help." Turning around she came face to face with Luka, the guy looking as though he'd just ran here.

"Is everything okay, Luka?"

"Yes, no, maybe...certainly not."

She looked at Luka curiously before turning back to Sabrina. "It was lovely to see you again, Sabrina. Please let the police know if you find the ring, they know to look out for it."

Grabbing Luka by the arm she began to walk and drag him away from the tourists before unlatching her yo-yo and flinging them both up into the air and to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

"If we're going to stay here can I at least have my Miraculous?" he sighed, looking down to the ground below.

"Yes, no, maybe...certainly...not!" She shot finger guns at him, a smirk taking over her face.

"Oh come on, Marinette, be fair please," he begged, glancing once more down at the ground.

"I don't know. I think I'm still a little annoyed with you, after all you did keep a rather huge secret from my husband and I."

He took a step backwards away from the menacing look of his friend.

"Marinette..." he warned, his friend stepping once more in his direction.

He continued to walk backwards only to have her wrap her yo-yo around him and pull him back. "Like I'd do anything to you." She pinched his cheek, before giving it a couple of little taps. "Now, have you seen my ring? Because let's be honest you're looking a little nervous."

Opening up the yo-yo she pulled out his Miraculous and also her phone, handing the bracelet to Luka before dialling her parents.

After the third ring, Sabine picked up.

"Marinette, sweetheart, any luck?"

"Nope, I've looked everywhere I've been for the past two days, seriously I can't think of anywhere else I went. I feel like I'm going insane."

"And you're sure you're not pregnant again?"

"No, Maman, one child at 22 is enough at the moment thank you."

"You'll be 23 next week, remember," Sabine joked on the other side of the phone.

"That doesn't mean I need to start popping out more kids."

A sudden squeal in the background of the phone had her on edge.

"Maman, what was that? Is Emma okay?" A squeal was heard again, followed by the slapping sounds of her daughter's bare feet moving across the wooden floor boards of her parents kitchen; her papa's 'Fe Fi Fo Fum' following shortly afterwards.

"She's fine, your father's chasing her around again. Her understanding is getting better, isn't it? I asked her to give your papa a bowl of pretzels earlier and although she ate three before giving it to him, she managed to do it."

"Maybe you could ask her to find my ring for me?" Ladybug rubbed a hand over her forehead, oblivious to the other heroes starting to land beside her. "She may have better luck than I have."

"I'm sure you'll find it dear, just don't give up yet."

"I won't, thank you for looking after Emma, Maman, tell her Maman and Papa will be back to get her soon."

A squeal was heard again followed by another pitter patter of tiny feet and Ladybug couldn't stop her heart swelling. Finally ending the call, she looked over to spot her gorgeous superstar husband talking to Carapace and couldn't help her mind drifting off. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to have another one.

•••••

Chat Noir had many stupid ideas, and most would say this one had truly outdone the others. As he stood side by side with Carapace he could feel the gaze of his wife on him, and it took everything in his power not to turn his head and stare back, he knew one look at her would give his game away, and he had put too much time and effort into this for it to be over already.

"Dude, she's called this meeting because of what you've done," hissed Carapace, Chat Noir shrugging in response. "You do realise the press are going to go crazy because all superheroes have decided to meet up on the top of the Eiffel Tower like our old emergency meetings, and your wife is flying around like crazy acting like a mad woman."

"It'll be fine, she's just being a little dramatic. You know how she gets," Chat said, spinning his baton between his fingers.

"She's going to kill you when she finds out what you did," Viperion had come over to join the others, Chat grabbed his and Carapaces arms and moved into a more secluded spot; making sure his Lady was paying attention elsewhere before he moved.

"You two are meant to be on my side with this. That's why I included you in the plan, so neither of you better cave and tell her before her birthday." Glaring at his friends, Chat waited for reassurance neither were about to go running.

"You're lucky we love you man, because seriously, your wife is on a mission." Viperion indicated where Ladybug had just pulled out a bunch of maps from her yo-yo and was handing them out to the other members of the team. "She almost had me hanging off the tower again, and I do actually want children someday, Adrien."

"I'm telling you now Agreste, if I'm going down I'm taking you with me." Nino crossed his arms over his chest in an attempt to look tougher but unfortunately the guy was still as soft as a marshmallow.

"As much as I'd like to believe that, I know for a fact both of you know how much this is going to mean to her. As soon as I started explaining you both jumped onto the ship fast wanting your moment of glory."

"Damn, he got us!" Viperion responded, himself mirroring Nino's actions. "I suppose it's only three more days."

"That's the spirit, snake boy." Chat Noir tapped him on the shoulder in brother comradery.

"Shut up, Cat man." Viperion rolled his eyes before smiling at his friend. "Just let us know what you need and we're on it."

The guys fist bumped in agreement before moving back around to the crowd. Ladybug could send as many heroes as she wanted, but they'd never find her ring, as at the moment it sat neatly in his pocket, a brand new engraving placed within the inside of the circle.

A/N There are only two prompts left for the month, however, I will be splitting tomorrow's prompt into two chapters and then the last one into 3. Thank you for following alone on this Ladynoir adventure.
