Us Against the World
Ladybug opened the portal and stepped through to the bakery. She stood in front of a large white box trying to quash the stirring excitement in her belly. She was getting married and her cake was currently sitting pretty in front of her, if she could just step forward she could grab the lid and ...
"Don't you dare!"
Tom's voice echoed around the room, stilling Pegabug's advance towards the cake.
"I was just going to check that no mice had gotten into the box. I wouldn't want the cake ruined."
"Marinette, you are terrible at lying. How did we not figure out you were Ladybug sooner?" Sabine entered the room with her suitcase towing behind her. She was wearing a big, floppy sun hat, her swimsuit and a wrap around her waist. She looked as though she had a UFO on her head.
Adrien had managed to book them a villa with a private pool, therefore they were free to enjoy the sun without being spotted. That was one problem of Tom and Sabine being Paris' famous bakers, and also the parents of Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a girl all the heroes knew. They were sure if Tom and Sabine were spotted, Marinette would be found out in an instant, taking away the element of surprise at the altar.
"I'll drop you two off and then head back to my villa. I think you're going to love where you're staying." She explained to her parents, excitement pooling in her stomach. Her parents rarely took a break from work, and being able to help them achieve that was amazing.
"I hope you won't be staying with Adrien tonight, it's bad luck to see the groom the morning of the wedding." Sabine, handed Tom his own hat which he placed on his head before grabbing the cake.
"I promise I'm not. We're meeting tonight and then he's staying with his best man, whilst Alya stays with me."
"Good."
Pegabug reopened the portal into Tom and Sabine's villa where Chat Noir was standing waiting for them. He stepped forward to take the cake from Tom, greeting his soon to be in-laws. He gave them a quick nod before heading out to the restaurant of the resort, cake in tow, ready for the wedding tomorrow. Pegabug separated her kwami's, remaining as just Ladybug. She took off the glasses and renounced Kalkki.
"Why are you smiling at me like that?" She asked. Tom currently had his arm wrapped around Sabine's shoulders, as they both looked adoringly at their daughter.
"We're just so happy for you, sweetheart. You're going to make such a beautiful bride, and we're so proud of you-"
"Of you both." Sabine finished for him. "You both deserve this so much."
She wrapped her parents in her arms, thanking them for everything. Tom and Sabine were truly Miraculous parents and Marinette felt lucky to have them both on their side. She called off her transformation and prepared for an afternoon in the sun with her parents, the last time as a family of three.
A couple of hours later, Marinette transformed again and kissed her parents goodbye, promising to see them bright and early in the morning to get ready for the wedding. For the first time ever, she was quite sure she'd be awake on time.
A musical tune filled the room as Ladybug was about to leave. Of course, it could only be one person Chat Noir.
"Hey Bugaboo, what time are you leaving your parents?"
"Just on my way back to our room now."
"Ok, well, drop your bags off and then meet me on the beach. Stay transformed."
"Why?"
"Stop questioning everything and follow my lead for a change." She could hear the smirk in his voice. He was insufferable, but she couldn't deny she was intrigued by what he'd planned. They were in a romantic location, it was their last night being 'single' and he was Sir Soppy after all.
She agreed to his plans and made her way back to their villa, dropping her bag in their room and heading out the patio doors and onto the beach. She froze in her tracks when she saw what he'd set up. On the beach was a picnic blanket, a bottle of wine, a picnic basket and candles.
"What did you do?" She walked towards her partner, eyes wide and heart swelling. His face was vibrant, like he'd been wanting to do this for years, and knowing her Chaton he did.
"We missed our last 'Miraculous' anniversary with all the wedding planning, so I thought we could celebrate one more time as just partners."
"We'll always be partners, Kitty." She made her way over to him and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips before settling onto the rug.
"I get that but I thought we could reminisce for a bit. Pretend it was before we knew who the other was, before we started dating, and when we were transformed was the only time we could communicate."
"Feeling nostalgic are we?"
"It's just been so long since we celebrated, just the two of us."
He was right, and even though he would never admit it, she knew he missed their duo, just them against the world as this whole story started.
She did too, to be honest, but the threats got bigger and they seemed to need to continuously call in reinforcements. He was always afraid of bringing it up, it was a thin wire to walk on with her, especially with the stress of being a guardian.
They made a deal years back, that he would no longer hold onto his emotions, that he'd talk to her. They'd gotten into some rocky situations over their time as heroes all thanks to the lack of communication, and even though he agreed to it, he seldom followed through. It seemed her mental well-being was always put above his own.
"That is very true, mon minou. But just think, from tomorrow we can celebrate anytime and anywhere. Just the two of us." He settled beside her, pulling out two flutes for the champagne.
"Cheers." He said holding the glass out to her.
"What? Are we British now?" She laughed.
He laughed and scratched the back of his neck.
"You know, your laugh and smile have pulled me out of some of my darkest moments. I'll do anything to make you happy."
"You're a smooth talker this evening, do you realise you've already got the girl." She dropped him a wink before continuing, "You know I've always loved your sense of humour, Chaton. I've grown to love it more and more, but your timing still sucks sometimes."
They both laughed and drank some of their wine before Ladybug dove straight into the basket to see what he'd brought with him. It didn't take long to find the fruit platter at the bottom. Pulling it out carefully, she placed it in front of them.
They both began to eat, smiling out into the sea, and smiling at each other. It was nice to have this one on one time in such a beautiful environment. It was just nice to be with him.
"Can you remember when Gorilla got akumatized the first time?" Ladybug broke the comfortable silence as she popped the last grape into her mouth.
"How can I forget? I thought I was going to die."
She shoved his shoulder playfully.
"No you didn't. You knew to trust me, that I would save you. I would have never let you hit the ground," she said.
"I would have had to transform and my father would have figured it out. I can't believe how many situations he put me, us, into." Chat replied.
"You know I'll always be watching your back right."
"Just as I would you, M'Lady. I will always be around to catch you when you fall."
"I know, Chaton. Me too." They sat in silence again. This time though Chat Noir broke it.
"What was your worst memory of our superhero story?" He asked, this time taking the cakes out of the picnic basket.
"Honestly? The amount of times I thought we were going to split up. I always worried you would side with Hawkmoth one day, just because I was a crap Guardian." Her voice was bland, not a hint of the fun loving girl he knew.
"Not a chance. Yes, some things annoyed me, but my love for you triumphed over everything else. Plus we had to stop each other being akumatized, that wouldn't have ended well." Chat smirked at her, causing her to look away. She'd never get used to the intensity in his eyes.
"Can you remember the day we found out Hawkmoth was your father? I thought you'd gone insane."
"I guess it makes sense now, eh?" Chat said.
"It does, I just wish when I hugged you, I'd hugged you for longer, or hugged you harder. I had no idea what emotions you were hiding. I just wish I could have shown how much I loved you and wanted to let you know I'd be there."
"But Marinette did, she made sure Adrien knew." And wasn't that the truth. The tremendous guilt she had over Adrien's mother still in a coma lay on her consciousness everyday.
"My two girls always made me feel better." He said, wrapping an arm around her waist and dropping one knee to get closer to her.
"Two girls? Are you cheating on me already?" Ladybug mocked a shocked face, as Chat Noir shuffled in closer.
"I'm sorry Bug, but you're going to have to share me with the most wonderful girl I've ever met."
"Oh really now. Should I be jealous?" She said.
"Definitely. She is beautiful, creative, wonderful, stubborn and a pain in the ass." As he spoke their heads had crept closer together with only an inch between them.
"I better up my game then." Their lips met in a passionate kiss, pulling and teasing each other to the point of insanity. Chats spare hand wrapped in Ladybugs hair as he pushed her back against the sand. He pulled away, allowing her to see him framed by the light of the moon. A smile pulled on her lips, as she pulled him down egear to show him how much he was loved.

"You've got to be kidding me!"
"It's you!"
"How did I not guess you were my sister?"
"I thought it would be someone cooler!"
"We live together and you never told me."
"Oh, I'm so happy!"
Chat Noir was wandering around greeting all the guests and listening in to the conversations happening around him. He found it amusing to hear the different reactions to seeing each other standing with their kwami's beside them, to be honest he was surprised by some heroes himself. He knew it would be a memory that lasted a lifetime, he just wished Marinette was here to listen in too. She's the one who'd brought them all together.
Only himself and Carapace remained in uniform, everyone else dressed in their finest, watching as lovers rebonded, friends reunited and old classmates reminisced. He couldn't keep the smile off his face.
Alix made her way over to Chat and Carapace.
"You ready, Model boy?" She wrapped him into a tight hug.
"Yeah," he breathed out, "not going to lie though, this is the scariest thing I've ever done."
"Scariest?" She questioned.
"Well, nerve wracking. What if she doesn't show up? What if she realises she could do so much better?"
"Dude, calm. If there's one thing for sure, it's that your lady will be walking down that aisle ready to marry you." Carapace placed one hand on Chat's shoulder and guided him towards the altar. Tom and Sabine were wearing the butterfly and peacock Miraculous', and both would be walking Ladybug down the aisle in, he looked at the clock on the wall, exactly five minutes.
Every single body part was shaking and he just couldn't wait to get out the suit and declare his love to the woman who meant everything to him. To see her smile, to see her dress, to place his ring on her finger, to be one.
The guests made their way in, sitting in the benches and giving their best wishes to Chat Noir. He smiled and greeted them, stomach turning into fairground waltzers as he waited for his bug to arrive. Finally, Alix took her position and nodded at the two heroes in front of her, before announcing to the congregation.
"Please stand for the arrival of the bride."
