Rewrite the Stars

Marinette sighed and closed the door. Her parents had come around to talk to her, apologising for the way they had handled the situation, and handing her a few of her belongings; including clothing, her sketch pads and her diary. Apparently Chat Noir was bringing everything else over a bit later, when he returned with their food.

Whilst her papa was apologetic, her mother was like a fizzy drink in a bottle ready to explode. The phase too much energy came to mind. Chat Noir had revealed himself to her parents and informed them about everything, and it seemed as though both her parents were fully on board with the relationship and the marriage. Her fathers words were "you two will have beautiful children." Her face burned in embarrassment. How could they already be thinking about grandchildren?

Whilst waiting for Chat to return, Marinette pottered around the apartment. She'd already had a long soak in the bath and Tikki had performed the ritual on her leg. Although she was still on her crutches, she could apply a lot more pressure onto her leg than a couple of days ago. Perhaps she would be walking down the aisle without the monster cast after all? She took the bags her parents had dropped off and began to move them to the appropriate rooms. Leaving her sketchbooks downstairs on the coffee table.

The last item her parents had brought around was her 'commission', also known as her wedding dress. She carried it up to her room and removed it from the bag it was settled in. After she'd broken her leg she'd redesigned the skirt to cover the cast, as a pro caution of course, which then meant the top wasn't right for the skirt style. After having a panic attack and demanding Alya come over at once, she'd redesigned her wedding dress keeping only a couple of elements from the original design.

"You're going to look like a Princess, Marinette." Tikki brushed a hand down the skirt of the dress, her eyes gleaming in awe at the beautiful creation before her.

"Thank you, Tikki, and thank you for everything you're doing for my leg. I may be feeling optimistic, but I really think I'll be ok on the day, even if I have to cut the cast off myself." She had one more appointment the week of the wedding, and she had everything crossed that she'd be given the okay.

The girls laughed together as they fawned over the beautiful gown. The dressmaking had been completed, but the bead work still needed to be done. A whole bust worth of sparkly beads and rhinestones. Marinette's fingers were already screaming at her.

"Do you think he'll like it?" Marinette asked, fluffing the skirt out a little more.

"I think you could wear a potato sack and he'd still think you were the most beautiful woman in the world."

Marinette let out a giggle, she was so giddy with the thoughts of her wedding day especially now her parents are on board too. She'd explained to them that she'd be transporting them using a Miraculous. That way they could take the cake with them, all she needed to do was borrow Max's glasses.

They would be arriving the day before the wedding, whereas everyone would have already been there for two. With the time difference only being three hours they didn't really need to worry too much about the jet lag, and Marinette could make sure they weren't seen by any of the other heroes.

With Papillon gone and the butterfly Miraculous safety in the Miracle Box, Ladybug had informed all heroes that they were welcome to the wedding. Chat guaranteeing there was room for everyone on the flight. Ladybug had then discovered he'd chartered a private commercial jet just for them. Only one way though, as they could use Kalkki to return home. The flight out was going to be part of the whole adventure and she couldn't wait.

With Paris being threatened pretty much twenty four seven, herself and Chat Noir never got to join their friends on group holidays, well the flight part at least. They would use Kalkki or their wing power ups so they could get back if there was ever an attack. So even though they would be dressed in their hero costumes for two days, and yes they'd be drawing a lot of attention to themselves, they needed a break, a real one. No villains in sight.

She placed all her clothing into the wardrobe, toiletries in the bathroom before pushing the suitcase under the bed. It seemed as though her parents had brought everything with them, so what was coming with Chat? Checking the time she saw she had ten minutes until he arrived home. Home. This was crazy.

Calling on her transformation, she made her way downstairs noticing something on the coffee table she had missed. Her diary. Knowing she was the guardian she wanted to make sure there was something that documented everything about her life. Seeing Master Fu not even remembering their names was heartbreaking and she wanted to make sure she had something to remind her of her time as Ladybug.

Settling down she opened it to a page from about three years ago. The start of her crush on Chat Noir:

Dear Diary,

I saw 'The Greatest Showman' today, and have been obsessed with the songs ever since. As soon as I got home I downloaded them so I could sing along as I worked, but something pulled at my heartstrings when I listened to 'Rewrite the Stars'.

"The food has arrived," Chat sang as he opened the patio door and made his way to the kitchen. He saw her sitting on the sofa, a lack of response meaning she was busy doing something. He grabbed two plates and the chopsticks making his way over to Ladybug, before turning back to get the food out of the take out bag.

"What are you reading?" He asked, as he perched on the arm of the sofa.

"My diary. Just looking back at some of my old segments. Here, read this." Ladybug thrust the book into his face, causing Chat to fall backwards off the chair. Ladybug burst out laughing and offered him a hand to stand up. Placing his hand in hers, she pulled him onto the sofa next to herself.

"Woah, little lady. You sure you want me to read something so personal." He questioned, the uncomfort showing on his face.

"It's about you," she teased, waving the page in his face. Taking it from her hands he began to read it out loud, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her into his body.

Curiosity got the better of me and I loaded up YouTube. Believe it or not there was a video of Ladybug and Chat Noir edited to that song, and it was wonderful. Different shots of us from interviews, patrols and battles. It made me wonder whether this whole mask thing and my own fears are what's stopping me from being with Chat. Well that and Adrien.

He felt himself swallow, before continuing to read.

But the longer we've worked together I can feel how close we're getting and how natural it feels. The way I find myself staring at him for no reason, thinking of ways to touch him, and longing for his arms to wrap around me. Maybe things can be different, maybe we can have the most wonderful romance, maybe next time he offers me a rose I'll accept and we can see how things can go.

I'm sure part of me will always love Adrien, but maybe it's time to give someone else a chance. We have three years until the deal, and I think ... no ... I know I want to give my wonderful partner the chance he deserves.

Yes ... I've decided, the next rose he offers me will be a keeper. (As long as it's not yellow.)

Chat started to laugh.

"I'll take the yellow rose back then." He stood up and made his way to the bag resting on the counter. She swung herself onto her knees and looked over the back.

"Chat?" She questioned.

"Although, maybe you'll accept this one from me instead."

He walked over, hand hiding something behind his back and presented her with a red rose.

"For my perfect beauty."

"It's beautiful," she gasped.

"Just like you." He placed a kiss on her nose before heading back to his seat and taking his half of the food. "I want you to see me."

"See you? We're kind of engaged so I think we're past the 'seeing phase'."

"Well, aren't you just the comedian?" He said, voice monotone.

"Of course, and don't forget it." She dropped him a wink and headed to the sushi.

"Seriously, though, I know who you are, Marinette, and I'm quite sure you know who I am too. So can we just do this now. I told Alya I would wait so you could have the reveal at the wedding, but it's killing me not being able to kiss you as myself."

She looked into his green eyes, confused about what she wanted. Yes, she would love to do it now, to spend some time together with him before the wedding, but a certain part of her was terrified. This was a big step. Her mouth creased into her thinking pose and Chat took the opportunity to ask again.

"So, what do you say, Bugaboo? To reveal or not to reveal, that is the question."
