Masks
"What do you think about that person over there?" Marinette asked.
The fab foursome were out for their Saturday afternoon cafe trip, and as usual they were playing a game of 'unmasked'.
"I think if she took off her glasses we'd see one yellow and one red eye." Adrien responded, causing the designer to smile.
"No chance. Purple and black." Nino said, only to be glared at by his girlfriend.
"I think you mean red and black, my dear."
The gang began to laugh. This was always a fun activity they would do, especially when people turned up in sunglasses and hats, or if they were on their phone.
Just like their next victim.
"That one over there," Adrien discreetly pointed to the guy sitting just outside on his phone, "I bet he's on the phone to his wife. His hair looks like that because she attacked him for sleeping behind her back with her best friend. He was going to call the police but instead he is amazed by her strength and wants her back."
"Or," Marinette announced, "he's on his phone to the other woman asking her to get her straighteners ready because his wife smashed his up during their argument."
All four had been staring at the man who was still chatting away animatedly on his phone, only for him to turn around and make his way into the cafe. They quickly diverted their attention before he saw them, Alya and Marinette trying hard to contain their nervous laughter as he walked past their table to the counter.
"I'm telling you," he said, still on his phone, "she roughed me up! Not only that, she broke my GHD straighteners! Can you believe it? Though, I must admit it was kind of hot." His face dropped as someone on the other side of his phone spoke. "Sweetie, no, it's you I want. No, don't say that, I'll be right over."
He grabbed a water bottle, paid for it and left. Once out of sight the group burst out laughing.
Marinette and Adrien caught each other's eye and high fived.
"You two, when you work together, are strangely good at this." Nino commented.
As Ladybug sat cuddled up to her new fiance atop the Eiffel Tower, she felt as light as a feather. Even though her dream, as a young teen, was to marry Adrien Agreste, nothing could beat the feeling she had at this moment. Her soulmate was wrapped around her, while she sat in between his legs. The conversation flowed freely, and she was laughing to the point of her stomach cramping.
"I'm nothing like that!" She squealed, letting out another burst of laughter.
"Oh come on, Bug. You have red hair and brown - no hazel eyes out of transformation, six piercings in each ear and a peg leg you call Pete."
Ladybug couldn't control the laughing and smacked him on the thigh.
"If that's how I look then I guess you have an eye patch, bald head, beer belly and nose piercing."
"Hey! There's nothing wrong with a nose piercing!"
Ladybug giggled.
"I never said there was. My ex has a lot of piercings, I'll have you know."
Chat rested his chin on Ladybug's shoulder, squeezing her tighter to his chest.
"Ooo, I finally hear something about the evasive ex. Tell me, am I sexier?"
Ladybug turned around in his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You're the sexiest cat I know."
Considering they'd only been together two weeks, being so close just felt natural and right. Ladybug wished she'd given in to his advances years ago. They could have done so much together already.
"I can't wait to see you out of the mask. I bet you're gorgeous, and I'll finally be able to call you by your real name." He kissed her on the cheek, feeling the heat caused by his words.
"Can I ask you something?" Ladybug moved away to sit back on her heels.
"Sure." Chat replied.
"How's this going to work?" She'd been thinking about this often and had created a list of her do's and don'ts, she just hoped he'd agree to them all. Although, she would just have to be very persuasive if not. Kitty always followed his ladies lead.
"Our relationship or the reveal?"
"Both. I've just been wondering about it recently." He lifted an eyebrow at her, "ok, truth is, I've been planning this for almost three years."
He could see the faint red blush under her mask and smiled. She wanted it to happen as much as he did. He couldn't be happier if he tried. She was his everything and he was glad to now call her his.
"You finally fell for this old cat, I can't describe how happy that makes me feel."
"Wipe that smug look off your face, kitty."
"Never!" He exclaimed in a very over dramatic way. Why had she agreed to this again?
He could tell from her look that she was either about to call the whole thing off, or throw him halfway across Paris. Quickly, he changed the subject.
"Well you want the reveal on the wedding day don't you? So we keep doing things as normal until then, I suppose. We just need to choose a date and venue."
She nodded in agreement before shuffling towards him and placing her lips on his. Kissing always felt so good, so homely. The days leading up to 'the deal', she'd panicked. She was a very affectionate person, and she was worried about the whole kissing and physical side of the relationship. However, in the past two weeks, she'd found herself becoming addicted to his touch and affection.
"Ok, so I walk down the aisle, you're looking forward," she tapped him on the nose "no sneaky peaks. I have my veil over my face, you lift it up and bam!"
"An akuma?" Chat questioned.
"No," she smacked his bicep, "hopefully we fall even deeper in love and start our happily ever after."
The smile which had been plastered on her lips slowly transformed into a frown.
"What's wrong Bugaboo?" Chat stroked one of his clawed fingers down the side of her face, carefully so he didn't scratch her.
"It's just, I always thought my father would be there to give me away, and my mother to hand me tissues before I made my way down the aisle."
Chat looked at the disappointment on his partner's face and he couldn't stand to see it.
"How about you tell your parents?" He said.
"What do you mean?"
"Tell them the truth. About us. Everything about us." Ladybug looked over at Chat's face. Was he being serious?
"But our identities?"
"I'm sure your parents are as trustworthy as you are. They raised you to be this wonderful woman so I'm sure we can trust them with our secret, plus my future in-laws will like me more being a superhero." He winked at her then froze, sudden memories of Weredad sent a shiver down his spine. At least he wouldn't be making that mistake again, Tom
Dupain was scary when he wanted to be.
Her heart stopped, she'd forgotten about the whole two families becoming one. She'd have to do some pleading with her parents for forgiveness. Unless she did explain everything. They'd understand. Her parents were wonderful, they'd support her whatever.
"I'll have a think about it. It's one thing putting ourselves in danger, we can handle it. But if anything happened to my parents," she shook her head, "I couldn't live with myself."
She kissed him again before turning around and resting her back to his chest. She began to wonder what her in-laws would be like. Were they as cheeky and cheerful as their son? Did he get his loving nature from his mother or his father? Would they accept her into their family without ever meeting her? Chat wrapped his arms around her waist and placed his chin on her shoulder.
"We should tell the other Miraculous holders too, but let's not make it public knowledge."
Chat nodded in agreement.
"And one friend. We're going to need a Maid of Honour and Best Man." He added.
Ladybug was silent for a few minutes before she spoke, tapping her fingers together nervously.
"You know, we could invite the others too, as long as some volunteer to stay and patrol," she said.
"They'd learn about our identities, are you sure you'd be ok with that?" Chat replied.
"We're all in the same situation, it could make us a stronger team. It's about time everyone knew who their teammates were, a lot of trust is put into each other. However, I want you to see who I am before they all do."
He placed a kiss on her cheek, love flooding his body, heart and soul. He couldn't wait to see the girl under the mask. He was still pinching himself to believe this was happening and it wasn't all a dream.
"So what do we choose first?"
"Nothings happening until I've proposed properly," Chat explained.
"Properly? What will that entail then?"
"I can't tell you that, it has to be a surprise. You know how insanely romantic I am, so be prepared to cry."
He couldn't see it, but a dazzling smile formed on Ladybug's lips. Everything was going to work out fine, yes this was slightly insane, not knowing each other, but it felt so right.
"So really, tell me, what do you think I'm like?" Ladybug asked her fiancé.
"Honestly, I think you have stunning blue eyes and hair the colour of a raven. I bet your hair glows in both the sun and moonlight making you look even more insanely attractive than you already are. I know you have the most beautiful smile and the most alluring personality,"
"I'm glad you think so highly of me mon amore, though my personality in my civilian life is slightly more reserved."
"That goes for both of us then," Chat began to explain. "My personality is set by my job. You'll find I'm not as obnoxious in my civilian life. The mask gives me a chance to explore my character in ways I never have before."
"Though what you're saying might be true Chaton, I feel you'll still be the fun loving, curious cat you are. You're kind and caring, and I know you will protect and care for me. I think you'll be a wonderful husband and, eventually, a paw-tty awesome papa."
Chat laughed and he was glad she couldn't see the tears welled up in his eyes. She knew him, even with the mask and the over enthusiastic character, she'd managed to figure out the main characteristics of him, his heart couldn't beat anymore for her. For his Ladybug.
"You punned."
Is all Chat could reply.
Her laughter rang through the night and he'd never felt more blissful in his life.
