Chapter One
Cascade View
Groaning softly. Except Neva to be at my side like always after she had finished her tea making. Then hearing soft cries and chips as a dragonet woke up and was demanding food. Like Isles has done when he was only a dragonet living with us for the early parts of his life.
Forcing myself up, to see Neva humming a soft song for Mythical. He was curled in her hands, still crying but not as loud as he was moments earlier.
"Hello, little one." She said in a soothing voice, Mythical chip back at the comment.
Letting myself smile softly at the cute screen unfolding before me. Neva likely thinks I'm still asleep that I wouldn't see her unseen softer side. I've managed to glimpse a few things during our long time together. Neva hates it whenever I see her like this, better just pretend to be just waking up.
"Morning my love," I said pretending to just wake up. Neva snapped out of her act and made herself seem taller and prouder like when she used to practice during her time with her tribe the IceWings.
"Good you're awake, the dragonet is awake as well and is hungry. I'm getting him food soon had to make sure you were up?" She coldly replied pretending her easier and soft voice didn't happen.
"Very well, love. Just don't scare dragonets with your scars." I joked earning a swipe from her tail. Neva left in a hurry hearing my comment and blushing madly from it.
She knew that I loved joking about her scars at times, knowing that I was teasing about her ripped up an ear of hers and her missing forearm. Even if it does seem a bit odd to joke about.
Mythical tried jumping out of the crib, flapping his tiny wings. It was kinda cute seeing a dragonet trying to fly.
"By the ancient leviathans, this is so cute." I cursed softly as I went towards Mythical to pick him up.
He snuggled into my chest as I took him towards the kitchen for some. Food for him and morning tea, raw fish and maybe some chocolate for a snack.
Mythical being place on the counter." Stay put while I get some food." I ordered trying to make it look like I have some authority over him.
But Mythical being difficult and young, just chip back and grad my tendrils. And pulling hard making me sheik in pain.
Rearing my head back, trying to get his hooked claws off of them. Mythical letting go but still making a squeaky kind of laughter at my pain.
"Why no chocolate for you, Mythical." I sternly told him, trying to hide my own surprise and a smug look form Neva hearing my sheik.
"No comments Neva." It told her as I got the food out for myself and Mythical.
Neva just smiled and got her veil on, she went outside likely to the grad to some fresh fish from fisher dragons or catchers.
Mythical finally began to eat something as I gave him raw fish. He wasn't picky when it comes to food, I'm glad so I won't have to roast then at all.
I know Neva sometimes cooks food such as fish or tea but those times are rare and are usually meant for her to indulge in or just wanted tea outside the shop.
The sound of talon steps can back into the house." Back already love?" I teased her as Neva entered the house.
She shot a playful look towards me, Neva was in a better mood as she carried in a letter." It's from our son Islas, Cascade." Neva explained then looking at Mythical, slipping a small smile to him unnoticed by herself.
Outside the village, I knew not all would have such a beautiful and smart wife, like myself. A healthy IceWing-SeaWing son and perhaps maybe an adopted son named Mythical.
No One View
Unknown hybrids slink towards Songbird with the smashed rock shards around her. A bleeding slash across her wing was seen with a bloodstained talon on one of the hybrids.
"You won't find my son." She snarled and claw at the hybrids who didn't flinch nor react to her threats.
"Soldiers step back." A cold and cutthroat voice yelled at the hybrid.
All of the hybrids had multiple traits of the tribes from large wings like a SkyWing to a bard tail of a SandWing with the scales of a SilkWing.
Some even had all of them but those were smaller and seemed to be disfigured somehow. Some were missing talons to entire tails or wings.
Each one followed the voice's order without hesitating.
Her scales were the colour of the moonless night with dark green stripes across the neck and face revealing gills on her throat. There were no wings on her back, only two tips where they should have developed.
She wore armour over the chest, hind legs, front legs as well and tail. Only a helmet lay on her head. All of it glittering black with shades of red and green.
"Now where is the egg of your?" She asked her eyes glittering dangerously.
One of Songbird's wings were crooked, and bend the wrong way. She was in a fight between them.
"You won't find him and you're asking the wrong dragon for him." She snarled trying to get up despite all enemies surrounding her.
Deceive hit Songbird with her tail, hard in the ribs. A loud cracking sound was heard as her ribs were cracked.
"Kill her, and make sure it's long." She ordered, as one of the hybrids step forward to Deceive.
"My queen?" She began, pausing for a moment thinking of what to saw to Deceive.
She looked mainly IceWing with hints of a SeaWing seen by her grill down her back, and a LeafWing seen by the leaf shape wings and fin on the end of her tail. Her scales were the colour of frostbitten leaves.
"What must we kill her, she may be useful for your plans of ruling?" She asked carefully worded her sentence out.
"Because if she lives and manages to escape, we lose everything I've worked for." Deceive said sharply, tail whipping around.
"I have killed countless dragons and steal their eggs just to create your pathetic existence as a hybrid, the superior bloodline of course. As well as making all of you stronger, faster, smarter, of all Pyhrria and Pantala, combined." She boosted.
"But my queen, this one doesn't have an egg or anyone to speak of this either. I think it's wiser to let her die alone within the wilderness." She suggested making Deceive think for a second.
"A fate that fits such a SkyWing but where's the fun of doing that. A painful and prolonged death would be fun but a short and still painful death is also fun?" She mused as Songbird began to snarl at Deceive.
"I'll choose this!" Deceive said as she cuts Songbird's throat open, making blood gash everywhere.
Within moments Songbird was dead from blood loss.
Deceive smiled as she watches Songbird's death happened, half of the soldiers didn't react while the IceWing with SandWing and LeafWing traits looked disgusted and horrified but quickly hide it form Deceive.
Likely seeing it as a weakness in showing such emotions during battle or with her nearby. Most would have died after showing such regret and empathy towards their enemies had done.
"Soldier Nine?" Deceive said looking at the IceWing LeafWing and SandWing hybrid.
"Yes, my queen?" Soldier nine asked, bowing to her as a means of surviving for reasons against the insane ruler.
"Find the father, as you're one of the smarter more independent hybrids here instead of these fools." She said glaring at the other hybrids most not reacting.
"Yes I will, my queen. For what I assumed I'll be killing him like his late wife?" Nine said keeping her eyes to the ground.
"Make it painful and long, describe how his wife died and how long it took." Deceive ordered as she moved to Songbird's corpse.
Then she ripped out the eyes, then cut out the tongue. And finally cutting into the chest cavity of Songbird to grad her heart.
"And give this to him." She added then leaving with the remaining hybrids who obey her without questioning any of it.
"Very well my queen." Nine growled as she looked at Deceive with burning hatred and anger, as she had hidden it well against Deceive whenever she had brought her around.
"I won't forget what you had done with my brother and late parents." She mumbled flying off to find the father known as Everest.
