Chapter ten
Man kind must be desperate to please us as they had already begun taking children at the age of ten to fifteen and placing them with me, they also followed whatever orders I gave them and killed those who tried to escape and rebel. People guarded the outer rim of the city, to enter you must have a pass or be well known by me. Those who rebelled were sent to the cage where Nightmare had created fierce animatronics that made sure nothing survived a night with them, I stretched on my throne made from bones and spare parts. Nightmare was off messing around with traitors, I had full control over the world which trembled in fear. Nothing survived outside the city, everyone and everything had been hurried into the city before my limits were placed. Only a certain group was allowed outside most of the time as they would manage the crops and things to keep the pests fed, I began to chuck a bone in the air and catch it. Suddenly a man burst in, his gun in hand.
"My liege, a group of rebels have been spotted outside the city, what are your orders?" He asked, he chose his words carefully as those who spoke out of line were personally killed by me or Nightmare.
"What You usually do to rebels capture and kill, if they refuse to come with you then kill them simple," I chuckled, I needed something to do. He went out and got his squad, they soon left. I decided to go experiment with the children I had captive, I put a child with a computer.
"Wh-what do I do?" She questioned looking at the programs on the screen, I stood in the observatory.
"I want you to try and create something that pleases me, you have until the sun sets if you fail you will be sent to the cage now begin," I waved her off, she immediately started and I left. There was no escaping the room, only if you completed a task were you set free. If you failed to either complete or it didn't please my expectations then you were sent to the cage, not many children managed to please my expectations. I got back to my throne when the squad came in, the rebels had been shortened to a few who wanted to live.
"Most of them rather died then lived, these are the few who surrendered," the squad leader explained, the rebels went to their knees and began to beg me to spare their lives.
"Please we don't want to die, we were forced to be rebels otherwise they would harm our families," a rebel man cried, this was amusing.
"You amuse me so I might let you live on one condition, you survive a night in the cage, take them away," I shrugged them off, their screams were pleas for their lives to be spared. I went to the observatory above the cage, I watched them get thrown in. A large cage had been built around a section of forest that held our nightmare hunters, they reminded me of James wolf suit but ten times deadlier. I pressed a button and they were released, it wouldn't take long for the hunters to find their prey. I watched the main hunter lead it's pack towards the prey they never devoured, the man who cried his plea had climbed a tall tree. He wasn't very smart, my hunters preferred cornered prey if it meant they had nowhere to go. I watched two split off to hunt down the female, she had hidden herself in a thicket of bushes. I chuckled at her strategy, the two hunters circled in knowing where their prey thought it was safe. I chuckled as she ran but was caught shortly after, the two tore her to pieces but would have to wait until dawn before her remains were retrieved. The man was crying for his life in the tree, I decided to go check up on the little girl. From the looks she worked her best, I went in to see what she had done. She had created marvellous art, it was of people bowing down at mine and Nightmares feet.
"Wonderful, follow me to your new station, continue to please me and you shall be treated with respect by all," I promise, I led the way to a decent looking room. It had a computer, a bed and a fridge with food.
"Th-thank you Marionette," she looked happy, I would suspect she was grateful that I liked her art as only a selected few earned my respect. I left her alone and returned back to the cage observation deck, the man was still alive but the hunters were almost to the centre of the tree trunk. I watched him leap from it and run, he had nice speed to keep ahead of the hunters. He dodged his way through the cage and managed to loose the hunters, he covered his tracks as he went. If he lived then he would make a fine rebel tracker, one mistake and he would give away his hiding position. Now that he knew what he was doing he seemed to hold his emotions together, he began to cover himself in leaves and grass. As the night dragged on I sent a few more hunters in before sending in the alpha hunter, the alpha hunter saw movement and reacted swiftly to whatever happened. The man learned quickly how different each acted, the hunters paired off to search except the alpha hunter which hunted solo. I watched with interest, the rebels learned techniques on how to evade from what I saw. When dawn came around he had survived, I called off the hunters.
"Congratulations you managed to survive my hunters, your life shall be spared as long as you can train my soldiers on your evading and survival techniques," I explained, he nodded willing to do anything if it meant he could live. I sent soldiers to take him to my holding cells, he would rest there and begging Training my soldiers soon after. I returned to my throne once again bored, Nightmare returned not minutes later.
"You seem like your enjoying yourself," I commented slightly envying him, he chuckled.
"I would say the same for you," he muttered, I rolled my eyes. Being in control was boring, yes it meant deep respect and fear but when everyone followed my slightest commands it grew boring quickly. I stood and decided to go try and find the rebel camp, I went to the holding cell where the man was.
"Where's the rebel camp?" I questioned watching him, he seemed to swallow his fear.
"They probably moved by now but they move in circles, they throw you off but placing fake campfires, they have their main camp as of right now just north west of here, their smaller camps are scattered around that to keep a lookout incase well you were nearby,"he explained so willingly, I nodded and headed for my soldiers sleeping quarters.
"Gather up whatever men aren't guarding the city, we have rebel camps to destroy," I chuckled, the squad leader nodded and went to gather his men.
