"Happy Halloween!" I exclaimed as I knocked on James' and Lily's door.

Lily was holding my daughter and I let out a squeal as I saw her, she had on a little witch costume.

"She looks adorable!" I exclaimed as I walked into the house and took her from Lily.

"Where is your hubby?" James asked with a frown.

"Sirius was going to come, but he had a meeting with Dumbledore." I explained as I smiled down at my daughter.,

"Let me get my camera." Lily said as she ran up stairs.

I went to shut the door behind me but stopped. Almost instantly I slammed it shut.

"What's wrong-"

"The dark lord is here." I said as I locked the door.

"Lily, take Harry and go! It's him! Go! Run! I'll hold him off! Go upstairs!" James ordered pushing me to the stairs.

"I won't leave you-"

"Go!" James yelled as Ebony cried.

I looked back at my brother and he nodded his head. I ran upstairs holding my daughter in my arms. Lily had already picked up Harry, who was crying.

Instantly I put Ebony beside him and looked for an exit, though it was to late. As I turned around I saw the dark lord at the door.

"Please, he is just a baby." I begged as I stood in front of Lily.

"You need not die, I have no quarrel with you, Cassandra Potter." Voldemort said aiming his wand at me and Lily.

"You are trying to kill my nephew. You just killed my brother, I think there is a problem." I growled out.

My daughter started to cry and Voldemort let out a groan. He aimed his wand and I jumped in front of it.

"Move or both you and your daughter die... she does not need to die with them."

I looked back at my daughter and then over at Lily. Tears streamed down my face as I picked her up. Lily only nodded her head as I carried my daughter out of the house.

The last thing I heard as I made it out was Lily screaming, and then I covered my mouth and leaned against the house.

Ebony was still crying and practically screaming as I shushed her.

I saw someone run out the house but I didn't care. I just held onto my daughter as I laid on the ground, fear creeping inside of me. I closed my eyes and hummed trying to calm down my little girl.

It wasn't long before I heard someone running up to me. My eyes fluttered open and I saw Severus rushing towards me. He quickly crouched down and touched my cheek.

"I... I let him kill them." I whispered through tears.

He pulled me into his chest in a tight hug.

"It's okay. I have you."

I closed my eyes and held back a sob. I heard my daughter start to cry again and Severus let out a sigh and took her from me.

"It's okay, I have her." He said as he took Ebony from my arms.

He shushed her and gently kissed her forehead. I felt numb as I brought my knees to my chest. My daughter was crying but I felt trapped in my own body.

Dumbledore arrived not long after, seeing Severus holding Ebony, who at this time had calmed down and fell asleep. Dumbledore asked me something but I ignored it, simply staring at the ground.

"She hasn't said a word." Severus whispered as he cradled his daughter.

"She is in shock." He said letting out a sigh.

"I'll take Ebony to my home while she is looked after-"

"No, Remus will be taking her. While Cassandra recovers."

It must have shocked Severus because his head shot up and his grip tightened on his daughter.

"What?" Severus asked in shock.

"Cassandra made it clear that, under not circumstances was Ebony to be raised by you." Dumbledore said with a sigh.

And just like that, Severus' heart died once more. Severus instantly kissed our daughter's forehead and handed her over to Dumbledore.

"Fine, I will... take Cass to the hospital. Take care of her." He said as he picked me up.

I didn't react, I only allowed him to carry me to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. When we arrive she answered all of their questions, while I set on the bed staring blankly at the floor.

"I killed them." I mumbled as I closed my eyes.

I laid back on the bed and curled up in a ball, tears streaming down my face. I was numb as I stared at the wall, not knowing what to do or to feel.

"How is she?" A familiar voice asked from outside my room.

"Unresponsive. The doctors believe she has... went into shock. They don't know if she will ever recover."

I heard footsteps and then felt a gentle touch on my shoulder.

"Cass, it's Alice.... I'm here when you're ready. Ebony is safe so don't worry about her. Remus has her." Alice whispered rubbing my back.

I stayed silent as she gently rubbed my back. I closed my eyes and ignored her.

The next voice I heard was Sirius'.

"I don't know if you know I'm here, but I am... I'm going after Peter, he will pay for all of this. I promise." Sirius said as he leaned down and kissed my forehead.

I heard a baby and wanted to roll over but my body wouldn't allow me too.

"Ma ma." Ebony giggled as she set on my bed.

"Hi, Cass. Ebony and I are doing well. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley have been allowing me to drop her off with them when it's a full moon." Remus said softly.

He let out a sigh and rubbed my back. I felt him leave and then everything went quiet and I was left in a hospital room by myself, curled up into a ball.
