It was Sirius' birthday and I had no idea what to get him, so after searching for hours I found a small ring. It was a simple ring and having remembered a conversation that I heard between him and Remus I decided to get it.

It had an ebony stone in the center and small red stones on the side. Thankfully I found a stone engraver and was able to get writing on the band.

When November arrived I rushed to the boys dorm and plopped down beside Sirius on the couch.

"Come to wish the birthday boy a happy-"

I went to get up but he grabbed my hand and pulled me back down with a laugh.

"I'm joking." He said as I set back down beside him.

"Happy birthday, Sirius." I said as I held a small box out to him.

He took it and instantly tore it open. After awhile his eyes went wide as he pulled the ring box out.

"Ah are you proposing-"

"Shut up." I said as I hit his shoulder.

He opened it up and his eyes went wide.

"Is this what I think it is?"

"I over heard you telling Remus that your mum had destroyed the one, your dad gave you and-"

"Thank you, I love it." Sirius said as he pulled me into a hug.

I let out a squeak and gently hugged him back, a small smile on my face.

"No PDA!" James yelled from the stairs.

"I can't hug your sister for giving me the best birthday gift ever?" Sirius asked playfully.

"Hey! You get me for your birthday! And I'm the only gift you need!"

I rolled my eyes and left to start planning for the Yule Ball with Alice.

When December hit I was nervous and excited. I had put my hair up and was wearing a long yellow dress with a black jeweled belt and a black v neck. My hair had a small black pin keeping it in place and I was wearing the bracket my dad gave me and a simple locket.

I was nervous about Sirius seeing me in a dress for the first time. Normally I was just in my robes, so this would be different for me, seeing as I wasn't a big girly girl.

After I finished getting ready with Alice, we left for the ballroom. I was forced to walk up the stairs with a groan. I noticed the boys and saw Remus' eyes go wide. He quickly nudged Sirius, who sent him a angry look.

"What?" Sirius asked angrily, clearly annoyed that Remus hit him.

Remus motioned to me and Sirius turned around, his eyes went wide and a smile spread across his face.

"Damn, Cass you look beautiful." Sirius said as he walked up to me.

"She does, are you ready?" Remus asked playfully.

"What the hell are you doing?" Sirius asked angrily.

"Getting my date." Remus said as I took his hand.

"You mean Remus -"

Remus led me away before they could say another word.

James ended up going with a Gryffindor, while Sirius went with a Ravenclaw. And poor peter went alone.

Remus dragged me inside and to the dance floor. I felt eyes on me and turned my head to see Sirius watching us, he had a frown on his face and was sulking in a corner.

I shook my head and decided to ignore him. I wrapped my arms around Remus' neck and we started to slow dance.

"Remus, can I ask you something." I said as I stared up at him.

"Ask away."

"Do you think... James could forgive me if I was.. I don't know dating Sirius?" I asked looking up at him.

Remus let out a sigh and looked behind me.

"Want my honest opinion?"

I nodded my head and he sent me a small smile.

"He wants you to date him. James acts all big and bad but I think the only person in this school he would ever allow with you is Sirius."

"Remus, can I tell you another secret?"

"Go ahead." He said looking down at me.

"I'm dating Sirius."

"I know, I read Sirius' journal." He said with a laugh.

"He has a journal?" I asked with a laugh.

He nodded his head and we continued to dance.

After the dance was over Sirius dragged me to our secret space.

"Ouch!" I yelped as I pulled my arm away from him.

"Why him?"

"He is my friend, what's the big deal." I said as I let out a laugh.

"Cass you know I already thought you had a thing for him!"

"Sirius, it wasn't that big a deal, it is just Remus!"

"Do you think I give a damn! You're a fucking idiot!" He yelled turning away from me and throwing his arms into the air.

"Look it was one night, I'm sorry and besides no one asked him! I felt bad for him."

"Stay away from him or we are over." He said angrily.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked in shock.

"No, I can't trust you and him together."

"I'm a grown woman and you don't control me! If this is how it is going to be then we are done! I won't pick between you and Remus!" I yelled angrily.

"Then we are done!"

"Fine!"

"Fine!"

I turned and walked away from him, making my way to the dorm. I couldn't believe him, how dare he get mad at me for going with my friend. He had no right to be mad at me when he went with a girl that shamelessly flirts with him all the time.
