No More Business

You immediately went to the bathroom to clean up once you got home. The sweater had blood along the collar and sleeve, you'd be amazed if it wasn't ruined. There were claw marks running from your cheekbone down past your jaw, and they weren't pretty. Your arm had half moon cuts from where your mother's nails dug into the flesh along with long scratches decorating it. Once all the blood was cleaned up it looked like you got into a fight with a cat and lost. There was no way you were going to be able to hide this. So much for convincing him you felt sick.

He would be home within an hour and you were tired and on the brink of tears. Great. For now the best you could do was change your top and try to clean the old one. You found one of Katakuri's sweaters and put it on. It was way too big, but it was comforting and smelled heavily of his cologne.

You made your way to the kitchen and got to work washing the blood out of the old sweater but no amount of cold water and soap was going to work. The stains were faded now, but still obvious and the more you scrubbed, the more frustrated you became. You let out a groan and threw the article of clothing into the sink in defeat.

"Everything good?" Katakuri called from the front door and you immediately paled. You didn't hear him come home and you weren't mentally prepared.

"Yeah." You croaked as you turned off the faucet and buried your head in your hands.

"You don't sound good." He was now in the kitchen, every step he took towards you only stressed you out more. "Are you still feeling sick? We should get you to bed."

His hand lightly brushed against your back and you flinched at the contact. "What happened to your arm?" The sleeve had rolled back to your elbow, revealing the red scratch marks.

"I, uh." You poked your head out from between your hands as you struggled to find the words.

"What the fuck happened to your face?" He pulled you up and began inspecting the damage. He looked pissed. The scarf was gone, showing his deep set frown and his crimson eyes searched your own (e/c) ones, waiting for an answer. "What happened (Y/n)?"

You felt like a fish out of water. It was hard to breathe and even harder to find what to say. You opened your mouth but nothing came out. Instead, you started crying.

"Shit, okay, take it easy." He led you to the couch and pulled you into his lap. "Just give yourself a second." He rubbed your back as you curled up into him, pressing your face into the crook of his neck as you sobbed, the stress from the day finally getting to you.

"I'm- I'm sorry Kata." You hiccuped. "I wasn't sick."

"I gathered that much." He tried to joke but it came out a little tense.

"They still wanted us to go to their stupid holiday bullshit and they texted a lot and then dad wanted me to see them." The words fell out of your mouth but it didn't make much sense to Katakuri.

"Wait, so they did this?" He pulled you out of your spot against his neck and took a better look at the scratches across your face. They were deep enough that there was a chance for scarring.

You nodded and grabbed your phone, showing him the long line of texts from them. As he scrolled through them he looked more and more angry.

"Dad wanted to talk about it so I went to see them today." You were calming down and it was a little easier to explain. "It just didn't go well."

"(Y/n) you should have let me go with you." He tossed the phone to the side and dragged his hand down his face. "You really shouldn't have gone at all honestly. It wasn't necessary."

You shrunk down and averted your eyes, not wanting to admit he was right.

"But I understand why you did anyway." He sighed and squeezed you tightly. "We gotta fix you up so these don't get infected."

"Not yet." You hugged him and buried your face back against his neck, ignoring the fact that it was wet with your tears. You didn't want to have to get up.

"I'm not going anywhere, we need to take care of those scratches and then we'll take it easy." He unlatched you from him and sat you upright. "Stay put."

He disappeared into the bathroom and came back with rubbing alcohol, ointment and bandages, dropping everything on the table before crouching in front of you.

"I thought it was going decent enough until mom started judging our relationship." You winced as he cleaned your face with the alcohol.

"They didn't like that our marriage works?" He questioned, pushing your sleeve up to work on your arm.

"No, dad even commented on that. Mom said something along the lines of the age gap being gross."

"She said it was gross." He repeated, now dabbing the open marks with ointment.

"Her exact choice of words were that its filthy for me to love someone twice my age." Your voice wavered a bit. "So I told her to fuck off and then this happened." You motioned to yourself as Katakuri tried to find a bandage for your face.

"And your dad didn't step in?"

You scoffed. "Of course he didn't. I can't tell who's crazier, him or his demon of a wife."

"Doesn't matter either way, we're done with them."

"They'll come back wanting something from me again, it's bound to happen." Your voice dropped, already dreading that day.

"No they won't. I told your mother if they harassed you, they'd lose us as business partners. I plan to follow through with that promise."

"Is Linlin going to be so willing to do that? And that's a bit much anyway, she'd lose a huge profit by doing that." You believed Katakuri would try to end things with them but didn't plan on it working.

"They haven't increased profits that much so it won't be a big deal. And she'd be more than willing to do it whether it cost her or not. She's pissed that she has literally no grandkids yet and thinks we're her best chance at that, she'll do what she thinks will help to make it happen." He had your arm covered in bandages now and a large one taped to your face. You probably looked ridiculous but he was happy with the patch up job.

"Why exactly are we her best option for grandkids?"

"Because out of all my married siblings, I'm the only one who truly loves his partner." He stared up at you as he rubbed your knee. You were used to craning your neck to get a good look at him. Having him down closer to your level made it easier to see how much he meant it. "Are you crying again?"

"No, I'm fine." You wiped away a few stray tears. "Can we cuddle and watch stupid movies now?"

He chuckled as you reached for him, pulling him back into the couch. Once comfortable, he put on some B-rated horror flick to zone out to. He knew how much you loved those movies. They were so bad that they were funny, everything from the terrible CGI to the shoddy acting made you smile.

----

"How's she holding up?"

"Better. She passed out pretty quick. Just keep an eye on her until I come back, it'll most likely be a few hours."

"Take your time, she'll probably sleep through most of it."

"Thanks for watching her."

You felt a light touch brush your hair aside and a pair of warm lips briefly press against your forehead before you faintly heard the front door open and close. You forced your puffy eyes open, squinting as you tried to make sense of what was around you.

It was now dark but the TV was still going. You were covered under a pile of blankets on the couch, curled up against one side of it rather uncomfortably. A head of lavender hair was propped against your knees, the man sitting cross legged on the floor in front of you. Apparently Cracker was babysitting you while Katakuri was out.

You wiggled down to the floor to sit by Cracker, taking the blankets with you.

"So much for sleeping huh?" He eyed your bandages as he helped himself to sharing the blankets with you.

"Mhmm." You leaned your head against his shoulder. You wanted to be close to someone right now. "Where'd Katakuri go?"

"Am I not good enough for you?" He joked.

"You're cute and all but no." You managed to crack a smile. He was easily your favorite brother.

He rolled his eyes and played with his hair. "He's out with Peros and Mama. They're going through some paperwork over dinner."

"What kind of paperwork?" You already knew but asked anyway.

"They're checking through a contract with a lawyer. Nothing to worry about. In the mean time," he squinted at a movie case, trying to read the title in the dark. "We're watching Lake Flaccid 3."

"Oh my God, no." You laughed. "It's Lake Placid 3."

"Woops, honest mistake." He giggled with you.

After a while of silence he spoke up again, noticing your mood going south. "So are you going to have scars on your face now like Katakuri and I? We'll be like the three musketeers, except not nearly as cool."

You giggled again, lightening up immediately with his terrible jokes. "Not sure yet. We're going to have to wait and find out."

"Speaking of finding out, we have to watching this one next. The title is absolutely killing me and I need to know what happens." He held up the case for a movie called ThanksKilling, the cover had a picture of a rough looking turkey puppet on it.

"That's a good one, where'd you find it?" You'd seen it more times than you'd like to admit.

"There was a pile of these movies in the TV center."

"I didn't know Katakuri had some handy." On closer inspection, ThanksKilling was still in a clear plastic wrapper, unopened. He must have gotten it recently.

"Apparently he did. Hey, it's a good thing too, I think I can appreciate how bad these are."

It turned into a fun movie night as you waited for Katakuri to come back home. You were glad Cracker was there for company. halfway through Lake Placid he ordered pizza and you two made an absolute mess of yourselves, stuffing your faces with it as soon as it arrives. You hadn't eaten all day due to stress and the food tasted all the more amazing because of it.

Even if your day was a complete disaster, Katakuri and Cracker managed to make it tolerable. They were by far the best family you'd ever had and now you felt like things could finally get even better. Super shitty movies and good pizza was a great start to a much needed change.

If y'all haven't seen ThanksKilling yet, do yourself a favor and watch that. It's comedy gold, I swear.
