Definitely a Date

Katakuri said he'd be gone for a few hours and that meant you were alone with nothing to do. The house hadn't had a thorough cleaning in a while, so that became a good option to keep busy. You popped in headphones and got to work, humming and dancing a little as you worked around the house.

You started upstairs, going through the couple rooms there, except Katakuri's. You really wanted to see what his room was like since you'd never been in there before but didn't want to invade his privacy. Plus your mind went straight to the gutter, especially after thinking about how he had you pinned on the couch earlier. You would've been more than happy to go all the way with him then but now you were worried about moving too fast.

Sure you'd been married for over two months now, but you only just started feeling something for each other. Whatever. You'd figure it out when you got there. There was still cleaning to do for now. You weren't sure how much time you spent scrubbing, mopping, and vacuuming every nook and cranny, but you were definitely meticulous. And unfortunately, also oblivious.

Katakuri got back home to you finishing up the living room, vacuuming the carpet while singing to one of your favorite songs. Between the fact that you head headphones still in and the vacuum was loud as hell, you never noticed him come in. He stripped off his jacket and backed up against the door, content with watching you work for a moment.

Your back was to him when you finished, turning the machine off and winding up the cord to put it away. The second you noticed him you jumped and let out a gasp. "Holy hell don't scare me like that!"

"I have a feeling scaring you was unavoidable." He chuckled and removed his scarf, apparently now comfortable with you seeing his scars. "Nice singing by the way. You were way off tune."

"No one was supposed to be listening." You blushed hard. "A-anyway, how'd it go with the family?" Smooth topic change.

"Fine, Mama wanted to go over some business. Speaking of which...." He pulled out his wallet and gave you a card. "I realized you haven't been able to buy anything without me so I had another card made for our account while I was out."

"Our account?" You puzzled over the debit card in your hands. "I don't remember signing up for one with you."

"You didn't, it's technically all under my name but that's were your paychecks are deposited to. It's only fair that you're able to spend your money, we can add you to it later."

"I thought I told Peros he doesn't need to pay me. I literally only wanted something to do." You frowned. Peros found it weird that you weren't interested in a paycheck but you thought he accepted it when you talked to him about it. Most people would probably call you crazy for willingly working for free but you'd never been much of a spender before since everything was always taken care of for you financially.

"Doesn't matter, he legally couldn't hire you without payment."

You huffed, defeated. "Can't argue with that." You pocketed the card, making a mental note to put it in your purse later. "So since you were out with Linlin and Co. I'm guessing you already ate?" It was getting later in the day and food was most definitely on your mind.

"Not this time. I told them I had dinner plans."

"Do you?" Was there other business he had to deal with? Or were his brothers wanting guy time?

"Yeah, with you. I want to take you on a real date this time." Katakuri bent over you and brushed his lips lightly against yours. Your heart felt ready to bear right out your chest. "What do you say?"

"Sure." You said breathily, more than a little proud that you didn't stutter.

He pressed his lips more firmly against yours before pulling away sooner than you liked. "Good, because I already made reservations. I had to pull some strings to get it done so short notice." He smiled at you and straightened out.

"It sounds like it's somewhere fancy....."

"That's because it is. Go get ready and we'll head out." Katakuri was already dressed nicely since he had the meeting with Linlin and his brothers. Black slacks with a smart pair of matching shoes. He had a cream colored button up on that you could somewhat see his tattoos through and his jacket was in hand. Great, he was going to be waiting on you.

----

There was enough time for a quick shower which you desperately needed after cleaning the house. After that, you threw on some simple makeup and found a cute dress to wear that you didn't even know you had. It was buried in the back of the closet, just begging to be worn. Funny enough, its color was similar to Katakuri's shirt, a bit of a warmer shade of cream. It was a babydoll dress, hitting about midthigh with full length, loose fitting sleeves. On the back was small satin bow with a cut out above it, right between your shoulder blades.

Shit, you looked hella cute. Why had it taken you this long to find the dress? You added a pair of black flats and you were all set.

"Good to go!" You hopped downstairs and nabbed your coat and purse from a hook off the wall.

Katakuri was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone. "Okay, let me-" he looked up at you and paused mid sentence. "get my keys...."

"Do I look funny? Should I change?"

He kept staring.

"I should change."

You put your stuff back and were about to head back up when Katakuri finally regained some sense. "No, you're fine." He got up and held your coat open for you to slip into. "You look beautiful actually." He put on his scarf and plucked the car keys from another hook. "Now we're good to go."

----

"No way! I can't believe you got reservations here!" Through some black magic, Katakuri had been able to get you in to the Baratie. It was easily the most expensive and best restaurant in town. The restaurant was actually a fish-shaped ship, permanently docked off the coast. In the summer, it had 'fins' that would pop out to be used for outdoor dining.

"Never been here before?" He asked, trying to mask his amusement.

"No, it was impossible to get in. How'd you manage it?"

"The owner likes the business my family brings in so he's willing to make exceptions for us every once in a while."

Katakuri led you to the entrance by the hand, warmth radiating through his glove. He was instantly recognized by the staff, a host rushed to greet the two of you and took your coats before leading you further into the ship. You didn't expect to be led so far in. The host took you past the main dining area and eventually came to a closed off section. The noise from the restaurant was dull and from what you could tell, the area was completely private.

The host left quickly after handing you menus. "Why so closed off?" You glanced through the menu, already knowing what you wanted.

"He doesn't know the details, but Zeref knows I don't like showing my face around most people. He lets me use one of the private dining rooms on occasion."

"Zeref being the owner?"

"Yeah, I'm sure you'll be able to meet him some time, we come here pretty often."

"I could get used to fancy dinners on a regular basis." You put the menu down, giving Katakuri your full attention.

"It feels less fancy and more normal over time. You get used to it."

A young, blonde male waiter came in to take your order. The second he saw you he started trying to flirt, that was until you flashed your wedding bands and he noticed the death glare coming from the opposite side of the table. He made a speedy retreat once he had your orders.

"So (f/f)?" Katakuri questioned.

"Can't live without it." You smiled. "I'm surprised you were able to find something sweet."

The food came fast and tasted better than anything you'd ever had. Katakuri was able to eat without his scarf for once, the wait staff weren't allowed back in until he allowed them. Talk about special treatment.

You felt more relaxed than you had since first marrying the man as you two took the time to chat through the meal. There was even some flirting mixed in the conversation, something you didn't think that he was capable of before. It felt like he was as much at ease as you, his usually stiff posture long abandoned and the way he spoke was much more casual.

When you imagined going on a date and falling in love, this was what you had in mind. Not necessarily the fancy dinner, but taking the time to know each other. Not jumping straight into a dedicated relationship and dooming it to fail. Though that's exactly how it felt on your wedding day. But now it felt like you two were more like a new couple, just starting to feel things out with each other. Enjoying the simple things.

As smoothly as dinner went, it had to end. It was dark out when Katakuri took you home. He breathed in deeply and sighed once the car was parked in the driveway.

You raised an eyebrow at him. "That was quite the sigh. What's up?"

"I was debating putting on a movie but it's getting late."

"We do have work tomorrow." You added. A movie would have been nice. Maybe both of you were looking for an excuse to spend more time together. Which was silly since you lived together and were technically a married couple. You struggled over the urge to suggest watching something in bed together, your room had a TV so even if his didn't, you could make something work. But on the other hand you didn't want to rush into anything.

"Maybe tomorrow then?" He suggested.

"Yeah, I'd like that." You smiled at him.

He nodded and got out of the car, you followed suit, getting to the door as he was opening it. You were grateful for how much warmer it was inside. You swore it wasn't this cold around the same time last year.

After shedding coats and hanging them, both of you got upstairs. "Hey, Katakuri?"

He was at his bedroom door, hand hovering over the knob as he turned to face you. "Yes?"

"Thanks for the date, it was fun."

His lips curved up into a smile, making his scars crinkle around the edges. "We'll have to do another one soon." He opened the door but you didn't want him to leave just yet.

"Uh, Katakuri?"

His smile widened. "Did you want to come in?"

"C-can I?"

"C'mon." He pushed the door open the rest of the way and let you enter first.

His room was....clean. It looked like everything had a place and every surface was pristine. The walls were a muted blue-grey and a king sized bed took up much of the space. There was a small sitting space off to the side, similar to the one in your room but without all the books. You noticed a TV on the wall opposite from the bed.

"Huh." You stepped further in as you checked it out.

"Not what you were expecting?" Katakuri kicked off his shoes and made his was to the dresser.

"I'm actually not sure what I expected but I didn't think you'd be so organized."

He chuckled. "So did you want to come in to peek through my room?"

"No." You shook your head and felt a heat work up your face as you busied yourself checking out some pictures on the wall.

"What'd you have in mind then?"

"I dunno, like a sleepover kind of?" It sounded childish but it felt like the best option to spend time with him for the night.

"A sleepover." He repeated. You glanced over and noticed his shirt was gone. "I don't think us sharing a bed would count as a sleepover but okay."

You took a deep breath and faced him. "I don't want to go any further. Tonight that is." Wait till he learned that you'd never even slept in another man's bed, let alone had sex with someone. Your parents had a wonderful habit of scaring away any man that was interested in you for the sole purpose of picking your future husband.

"No one is forcing you." He padded up to you and gave you a chaste kiss. "I'm a patient man. Now are you planning on sleeping in that or do you want to change into something else?"

"I'll be back in a second." You retreated to your room to find some pajamas, settling on an oversized tee shirt and some tasteful bottoms covered in little reindeers. You were more of a shorts kind of gal but didn't feel brave enough to wear some while sleeping in the same bed as Katakuri. In a few minutes you were changed and back in his room.

He was in what you guessed was his usual idea of pajamas. A pair of red bottoms that hung loosely on him, dipping low enough to get a good view of his hips and where his tattoos ended. You'd never seen the ones on his back until now. They looked great with him stretching, the ink helping show off the curves of his muscles.

"Did you get all those at once?"

He jumped a little. "All what?"

"The tattoos."

"No, I don't think that would've been possible. It takes too long and some spots hurt like a bitch." He got in bed, patting the empty side for you to join him.

"Where'd it hurt the most?" You crawled under the silky sheets, keeping a bit of space between yourself and him.

"The band around my underarm, the chest, more around here though." He pointed to the area around his nipple. "That's a more sensitive spot. And the ribs."

"Do you think you'll ever get any more?"

"No, I think covering about half my upper body is good enough." He smirked.

You let out a yawn and burrowed further into the blankets. "They look good."

"Yeah?" Katakuri laid on his side and scooted closer to you, his bare chest now almost touching you.

"Mhmm." You copied him, twisting to your side to face him better as you fought to keep your eyes open. You didn't realize you were so tired.

He cupped your face and came in for a slow kiss. His lips held a lingering taste of what he had for dinner but it wasn't bad. They were warm and soft, somehow making you feel even more sleepy. He broke off the kiss but kept close to you. "Well I'm glad you like them but it's time for bed now."

You nodded slowly, no longer able to keep your eyes open and drifted off as he settled in beside you.

Hella long chapter, didn't plan it that way but it works.
