"I'm NOT his girlfriend..."
~Rayne's POV
It felt like after that awkward kiss between Michael and I, we kind of stayed away from each other. He claimed to be busy rehearsing with his brothers but I didn't believe it. I kept beating myself up for even kissing him. I ruined a friendship, it felt like. I spent the day unpacking the final box in my room. Hanging up my last picture of my dad and I. My window rattles softly causing me to turn. I peak out the window and see Michael standing, waiting for a glimpse of me. "Come outside I wanna talk." He yells up. I nod and rush downstairs meeting him at my front door.
"Hey..." I whisper, shutting the door behind me. "Why are you so sweaty?" I ask in slight disgust. "I took a break from rehearsal...I feel like we should talk about that kiss." He smiles. My stomach flip flops all over. "What about it?" I shrug, trying to pretend I didn't care that much. Michael chuckles again, "I liked it..." He admits. My face was calm, but inside I was doing cartwheels. I feel my face get hot as my cheeks turned red. "I guess I did too..." I giggle.
~Michael's POV
When Rayne and I kissed, there was some kind of magic that happened, almost like a spark. I haven't kissed many girls, but it was something about her lips that kept my thoughts. I think on my feet and kiss her again, holding her chin in place. "Come and watch my rehearsal..." I ask. She leans on the door, clearly overwhelmed by my constant lip locking. She simply nods, a big goofy grin on her face. I grab her hand pulling her as close as possible to me.
We walk in on the brothers practicing the steps for I Want You Back "Finally Mike, Joseph said 15 minutes not an hour..." Jermaine groans. "He went to go pick up his girlfriend.." Jackie teased, pointing at Rayne. Tito sat back quietly watching for my reaction. I've been known to throw quite a tantrum and get fairly angry. "I'm not his girlfriend..." Rayne interrupted. Yet. I think to myself. Rayne is definitely the one I want for me. Her strong attitude and positive personality is something I need around me. Marlon chuckles, tossing his hands up. "Okay.. whatever you say..." "Let's just get back to work before Joseph comes back." I snap. I gesture to Rayne to have a seat Tito was once sitting on and turned to my place. We restarted the music for I Want You Back and began performing.
~Rayne's POV
I sat on the stool tapping my feet and clapping watching as the Jacksons rehearsed in front of me. It was like my own little performance. I was ecstatic, I giggled as I looked over and saw Marlon making faces trying to make me laugh. Then Michael started singing, and there was something about hearing his voice in person that caught my attention. It was amazing! I've always liked their music, but watching this in front of me really excited me. Michael sang loudly holding on to his microphone, flashing a smile at me every chance he got. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He grabbed my hand playing around with my fingers while he sung, closing in on my face. He backs away doing this amazing spin and hits a pose. I let out a squeal and clap loudly.
He grins, giving me a hug almost lifting me off my feet. "That was amazing, Michael!" I smile wrapping my arms tightly around his waist. His sweat dampening his back. "Yeah, Michael did all the work..." Marlon mutters sarcastically, sipping his water. I laugh at him, "you all did great." I pat his shoulder. "Boys, get out here!" I hear their father yell out. Michael rolls his eyes. "That doesn't sound good, look I've gotta go but I'll toss a couple rocks at your window later. Maybe we could sit in the garden?" "That's fine with me" I smile back. "Michael!!" "I'm coming Joseph!"
I head back to my house. I think Michael and I were pushing towards a relationship, and I was honestly kind of scared. Michael would be my first relationship and he's a superstar. Am I ready for that life? "Hi daddy." I smile walking past his office. "Rayne." He calls back. I walk backwards a quizzical look on my face. "Tammi is in town..." He sighs. My eyes shift. "Is she coming here?" I stammer uncomfortably. I watch my dad shuffle around in his seat. "I don't know. But I will try my best to keep her away from you. Don't panic ok?" I feel my breath getting away from me as I nod my head slowly. I sat on the floor in my dads office, just wanting to stay close to him.
** "YOU DIRTY LITTLE RAT!" She yells, a strong smack across my face. "You think, because of your pretty face, you'll make it in life?! You're trash, Rayne." "ENOUGH!" I yell, shoving her. "I hate you! You've caused me so much pain! I did nothing to deserve what you do to me!" She grabs my arms, squeezing my wrist tighter, slowly twisting it. "Stop.." I whimper. "You're hurting me..."
**
I jolt awake, tears streaming down my face as I look out my window to see Michael about to toss a rock. "How'd you know?" He beams up at me. I shrug, wiping my eyes. "I'll be down in a minute."
~Michael's POV
I meet her at the front door to see her somber face. I frown "what's wrong?" I ask. She shakes her head, not even looking at me, and walks into my backyard into mother's garden. I watch as she sits, holding her knees to her chin, tears still rolling off her cheeks. I sit next to her, wiping a tear from her eye. "Did something happen with your dad?" She shakes her head. I chew my bottom lip in confusion and examine her closely. "Your mom?" She nods her head. "Wanna talk about it?" I ask politely, my eyes studying her face. She sighs again, "My dad just told me my mother is in town, and I'm freaking out. I'm afraid she'll come to his house and try and find me.." I stare at my shoes, incapable of finding any words to comfort her. "I'm just afraid..." She adds. "You can always come and sit with me, if you wanna get away." I offer, placing a loving hand on her shoulder. She lets a weak smile reveal on her face. Rubbing her wrist her smile turns into a look of pain. I look and see a dark bruise around it and furrow my brows. "Oh my God. Did your mom do that to you?" She nods her head, "right before I left, she tried to break my wrist..." Rayne has really been through a lot. I felt terrible from her, she didn't deserve the things her mother did to her and I hated to see her hurt. "Joseph has did things to us, like that before...." I admit. "One time when I was younger he broke my rib." Her eyes widened. "Really?" "Yeah! I've got the scar to prove it.." I say, lifting my shirt. A deep sigh comes from Rayne's beautiful lips, as she shakes her head looking to the sky. "How can our parents do things like this to their kids? We didn't ask for this... I don't even wanna talk about it anymore." I search the skies for another topic. "Joseph wants us to perform at a party in Hollywood...you should come with us!" I enthuse. "A Hollywood party? Oh I don't know.." She giggles. "Cmon! You'll be well taken care of. I promise!" "But I won't know anybody there..." Her voice whines. "You know me!" I grin. "Please come?" I whine back. Those eyes narrowed at me once again as she smirked. "Fine." She giggled. I grabbed her by the waist and kissed her. I couldn't stay away from her lips.
We both lean into the grass watching the stars. "So are you really gonna go solo?" She asks. "I want to. I've done a couple of solo songs, but I want to be a solo artist. I wanna write my own music, perform my own songs, just do my own thing." "Well what's stopping you?" She asks, her eyes piercing through mine. "Joseph.." I groan. She frowns. "Oh.." Our somber moods reflect each other.
~Rayne's POV
The fact that Michael and I were from two worlds and had so many similarities, made me so happy. We understood each other. "Your dad, and my mom should just get together so they can abuse each other..." I scoff angrily. Michael chuckles. "You made me feel so much better Michael.. Thanks." I smile. "I like you... I don't wanna see you sad." He replies. I smirk, turning to my side and pecking his cheek. "I like you too.."
Sorry this chapter is so boring, I had a little writers block. But the next chapter will be better
