Ryu and Evelyn were back inside of Ryu's house as the girl was drawing something on the floor.

Ryu: You still haven't explained what you're doing.

Evelyn: Well, right now I'm trying to test something out.

Ryu: ... That something being?

Evelyn: Instantaneous Teleportation.

Ryu: Wait didn't you already do that?

Evelyn: No that took a bit. This version however works WAY faster.

Ryu: ... Now correct me if I'm wrong, but you said TEST right?

Evelyn: Yup.

Ryu: So you've never actually done this yourself.

Evelyn: No but I've seen it done plenty of times!

Ryu: ... Now what are the chances that I won't get my insides scrambled?

Evelyn: Uhhhh... OH SHIT FALLEN ANGEL!!!

Still jumpy from the encounter not even 10 minutes ago Ryu's head jolted to the side. When it did Evelyn grabbed him as the magic circle glowed.

Ryu: EVELYN I SWEAR TO FU-

Before he could finish they were gone in a flash. When they reappeared they were in the air.

Evelyn: CRAP!!

Ryu: OH SHI-

They landed with a thud, Ryu cushioning Evelyn's fall and taking the brunt of it being face down on the ground.

Ryu: *Muffled* Next time you do that, I will throw you into the ocean.

Evelyn: @_@ Noted.

???: Evelyn, what have I told you?!

They both got up as Ryu looked around he saw that they were inside of what seemed to be a mansion. He turned and saw a man sitting on a throne. He had dark blue hair and bright blue eyes.

???: Ah, so you're Ryu Lucile.

Ryu: Uh, yeah.

???: It's nice to see you've made it here in one piece. Though I suspect Evelyn made that more difficult then it should've been.

Ryu: -_- Yup.

???: Well anyway, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adrian. Adrian Beleth.

Ryu: Beleth?

Evelyn: He's part of the remaining 72 Pillars. Adrian is the heir to the house of Beleth. One of the strongest at that.

Adrian: Evelyn, no need to flatter.

Ryu looked at Adrian and could just tell the man was a force to be reckoned with.

Adrian: Now, for why I asked Evelyn to bring you here. I'm sure you desire answers to that as well.

Ryu: Yes please.

Adrian: To put it simply, I'd like for you to join my Peerage.

Ryu: Your what?

Evelyn: A Peerage is a Devils group of servants. Only High Class Devils get to have-

Ryu: NO WAY!!!

Evelyn: ... I said servants didn't I?

Ryu: There's not a chance in hell that I'd be someone's slave for the rest of eternity!

Adrian: Ignore how Evelyn worded it. There's more to being in a Peerage than just being my servant. There's things that can help you as well.

Ryu: ... Such as?

Adrian: For one, I don't force you to do everything. I find that to just be lazy. But also, that Sacred Gear you have. It's dangerous. If you can't control yourself you could end up killing many people, if not the entire town you live in.

Hearing this the teen slightly shook.

Adrian: But, if you join me, you'll not only get this power under control, but most likely be able to deal with some major problems for towns like yours as well.

Ryu: ...

Adrian: I won't force you, the choice it yours.

The two looked at each other silently before Ryu let out a sigh.

Ryu: ... How does it work?

Adrian smiled.

Adrian: It's not too difficult.

Adrian brought out what seemed to be chess pieces.

Ryu: ... Are those chess pawns?

Evelyn: Yup! Peerage Devils are based on chess pieces! For your information, I'm Adrian's Queen!

Ryu: You're the most powerful piece on his board then.

Adrian: Yes. You have some knowledge of the game I see.

Ryu: Wait, I count 8. Why are you using that many?

Adrian: That's because this is how many it takes to bring someone of your caliber into my Peerage. Thankfully you're already half Devil. If you weren't then it might've been nearly impossible. Now, lay down.

Ryu nodded before laying on the floor as Evelyn placed the 8 Pawn pieces on his body. Adrian came up as a jet black magic circle appeared under the three.

Adrian: In the name of Adrian Beleth, I call to you: Ryu Lucile. Be Reborn as my Demon Pawn.

The pawns began to sink into Ryu glowing. He also glowed as well with sparks of lightning coming off of him.

Adrian: So even these weren't enough.

They fully sunk as Ryu opened his eyes.

Ryu: Woah.

Adrian: How do you feel?

Ryu: Pretty good actually.

Evelyn: 'Did, that really happen?'

Ryu: ... Why do I feel like you two are leaving something out?

Adrian: Aha, well you see... You're pieces somewhat changed a bit.

Ryu: Meaning?

Evelyn: Well it's not actually bad, it just... Makes you more unpredictable.

Ryu: How so?

Adrian: That can be explained later. For now, you should learn exactly what you can do now.

Adrian spread his wings as Evelyn did as well.

Evelyn: Welcome to the family Ryu.

Ryu: Family?

Adrian: Yeah I know it sounds strange, but that's how I treat members of my Peerage.

He gestured to Evelyn.

Adrian: Evelyn is like an annoying little sister.

Evelyn: HEY!

Ryu: -_- I get that.

Evelyn: You're welcome. Now, just turn around.

Ryu did so slightly confused before he felt a slap on his back as bat wings came from his back.

Ryu: OW!!!

He looked to the wings before back at Evelyn.

Ryu: Did you really have to hit my back?

Evelyn: No, it's just the quick and fun way.

Adrian: -_- Like I said, annoying.

Adrian flapped his wings starting to get off the ground.

Ryu: So, how do I do this?

Evelyn: It's easy, just watch me.

She turned around showing her wings.

Evelyn: Just think of your wings as extra limbs. They have muscles just like them.

They started to move before flapping.

Evelyn: Move them as if you're moving your arms. And then if you need give yourself a kickstart!

She jumped off the ground before she began flying.

Ryu: Okay.

He remembered her actions and words as his wings began to twitch.

Evelyn: It's alright if you don't get it right away! It took me a few hours to-

Ryu: AH!!

Not even needing to jump Ryu propelled himself off the ground above Evelyn and Adrian. He spun himself looking around.

Adrian: Huh. Looks like we have a quick learner.

Evelyn: Y-Yeah. 'OH COME ON!!! IT TOOK ME A WEEK TO GET THAT GOOD!!!'

Ryu: Woah...

He turned seeing the vast land around them.

Adrian: SURREAL ISN'T IT?

Ryu nodded his head unable to form words.

Evelyn: Yup, there's not a place in the underworld with a better view!

She looked at him seeing he was simply in awe. That's when she had the fun idea of prompting more of a reaction.

Evelyn: Awe what's that look? Not even a tiny smile?

Ryu looked over at her before looking away scratching the back of his head.

Evelyn: Come on, don't be shy!

Ryu: No it's... It's not that.

Hearing this both Devils seemed a bit confused.

Adrian: What is it?

Ryu: Seriously, I don't really wanna talk about it.

Adrian: Ryu, like I said you're apart of the family now. It's alright to tell us things.

Ryu: ... *Sigh* Please, just don't laugh.

Evelyn: I mean it looks like it's genuinely personal so that'd be mean.

He had a somber and seemingly embarrassed expression.

Ryu: If I'm being honest, I'm not really sure if I've ever gave a real smile.

Adrian: A-Are you serious?

Ryu: I don't exactly have a reason to lie. Anytime I have... It was super easy to tell it was forced.

Evelyn: ... Well that settles it then.

Ryu: Huh?

Evelyn grabbed Ryu by the hand as they flew down to the ground.

Evelyn: I'm not gonna sleep peacefully until I'm able to make you smile Ryu!

Ryu: Wait what the- Hey! Stop pulling!

Adrian flew down beside them.

Adrian: Well, looks like you're in for a time.

Ryu: What do you mean by that?

Adrian: Evelyn's quite the determined individual. If she sets herself to a goal then she's probably gonna reach it.

Evelyn: Come on, let's introduce you to the rest of the peerage!

Ryu: Fine but I can walk on my own!

They went further inside.

Evelyn: You can meet our Bishop first! She's pretty quiet most of the time but you two should get along well!

They entered a library as they saw a purple haired girl with glasses reading.

Evelyn: Hey there Sheele!!

She turned seeing Evelyn with Ryu.

Sheele: Hi Evelyn, who's this?

Evelyn: This is our new Pawn, Ryu Lucile!

Ryu: Uhh, hi.

Sheele: Oh, you're the one Adrian told us about. Glad to see you decided joined us!

Ryu: Yeah.

Evelyn: Whenever we're out in a battle Sheele always provides support in most ways no one else can!

Ryu: Right.

Evelyn: Come on!

She went beside Sheele gesturing to the girl.

Evelyn: Just look at her! You can't tell me this face can't bring a smile to yours!

Sheele: Uhhhh, what's going on?

Ryu: I am STILL trying to figure that out. And I already know what she's trying to- WOAH!

Evelyn grabbed him by the arm once again.

Evelyn: Not giving up yet!

Ryu: Seriously, I have legs for a reason!

Sheele: Well I guess that's one thing that's happening. Probably should stop her from going overboard.

She got up out of her seat following the two.

Evelyn: Here, I'll bring you to where our Rook is! She's kind of a hyper type, but she's great once you get to know her!

After a short walk they got to a different room. There were flashes of light and sparks going across the room.

Ryu: The heck?

Evelyn: Oh hey, our Knight's here too!

Ryu kept going around trying to see the faces of who was moving but was only saw and heard sparks and the clashing of metal.

Evelyn: Quick right? Don't worry, it's alright if you don't see them right away. Don't only track with your eyes. Use all of your-

Evelyn stopped speaking once she noticed Ryu taking a breath before looking again only shifting his eyes around. Slowly but surely he began to see the people that zoomed around. He saw one teenager with black and white hair that looked to be around his age, and wielded a large sword. The second was a short girl with pink hair and what seemed to be gauntlets. Both of them seeing Ryu as a new face stopped mildly surprised.

???: Evelyn? Sheele?

???2: Cool, is that the guy you said might be joining us?!

Evelyn: Sure is! Guys, this is Ryu Lucile! Ryu, I'd like you to meet our Rook, Milim Nava, and our Knight, Azure Kaito.

Milim: Nice to meet yah!!

Azure: Well if you could track us moving then there's definitely something special about you.

Azure held his hand out as Ryu shook it.

Azure: Dude, I know you just found out about this entire Devil thing but you can chill a bit. No one's gonna bite here... Aside from Milim half the time, but she's harmless otherwise.

Milim: Hey! Hehehe, I mean he's kinda right but still. Put her there Ryu!

They shook hands as well with Ryu a bit less tense. Though immediately after Evelyn slid near the girl who was equally as small as her.

Evelyn: Seriously how can you not even crack a grin at this?!!

Milim blinked simply confused at what was going on.

Milim: O_O?

Ryu: Can we lay off that for just a minute? Seriously this is just awkward.

Evelyn: NEVA!!

Milim: Hold on, what?

Evelyn: This big lug doesn't even know if he's given a real smile before!!

Milim: HUH?!!

Sheele: Not once?

Azure That is... Damn.

Evelyn: WHICH IS WHY I WON'T STOP UNTIL YOU DO!!
