Friendships Fading?
"You did what?!" She shouted at me.
"I-I'm sorry," I said looking down at the floor. "He told me to..."
"You know you always have a place at my house!" She said as she walked to her locker, I following her, "You should've just come to my place and told him no,"
"I-I- I know," Handing her her book, I leaned on the locker beside hers, "He just..." I trailed off.
She slammed her locker and walked away, I locked her lock for her and ran after her. I figured that she was mad, but I'm pretty sure I already knew what she'd say if I asked her some things, it would turn out pretty silly, but it meant something.
"I guess this has been our biggest fight for a while," I said, "Sorry," I put my hand out, "I understand if you'd like to return the jewelry,"
"I will never take it off as long as I live," She said in a very harsh tone, "No matter what happens,"
"You said something really nice in one of the meanest ways possible," I said laughing as I brought my hand back, "I will never understand you,"
"I know that," She said storming off, "I don't understand you either, why you'd go to him and not me!"
I sighed and watched as she disappeared behind the corner.
"Aish," A voice said behind me as I headed to my locker.
I opened my locker door and stuffed the books she'd left with me in my locker. "Hey Percy," I closed the door shut and sighed.
"What was that about?" He asked as we walked down the hallway.
"I went to Joshua's house last night cause I was too afraid to go to Samara," I explained. I told him the story, to the last detail.
"Oh, I hate when fights like that happen. "He said, as if he recalled a memory of his own.
"Did it happen to you?" I asked him as I pulled my bag higher up my shoulder.
"Yeah, between me and Joshua," He said as she walked on, "It's just that people were talking about us and we started fighting about it,"
"Tell me more," My steps fell into rhythm with his.
"People started seeing me and Joshua as best friends, but they started rumours, even though we were nobodies at the time," He sighed, "We were not anything like that, we were just friends,"
"Oh, that honestly sucks," I replied as we walked out the doors.
"It did," He continued with his story, "One day, I and him decided to stay away from each other for a while, but then he and I... we met up again and we hadn't seen each other in too long, we got mad at each other as we both thought we were better off without the other."
"Let me guess, you realize you aren't better off?" We waited outside on a bench for our parents to come.
"Yeah, and now, well that time we met, it was just awkward, right after you and Samara left, we parted ways," He set his bag down on the ground and nodded, clearly not wanting to go into more details.
I took out my phone and smiled as I went through the pictures on my phone. Suddenly, a notification came. It was on a group chat that I, Joshua, Samara, Felicia and Percy were in.
The grin on my face quickly faded, I turned off my phone and put it away, upset at the picture that had just been sent.
"Hey, what happened?" Percy said, snapping me back to reality.
"Samara didn't tell me she went to the festival..." I stared up at him, "With Joshua, and not me,"
"Hey!" I said walking up to Keira, "Keira?"
She turned her back on me and walked away towards Percy. I walked to Samara and was about to ask her what was up with her but she too turned away.
Keira eventually left Percy so I had no choice but to ask him, great. He stared me up and down and waited for me to hurry up.
"What is up with the two?" I asked him as I sat in the desk beside him.
"The two are in a big fight, and they don't seem to like you either," He replied as he took out his phone, showing me the picture of me and Samara at the festival. Then shoving a sweater into my arms.
"Oh, they both didn't know that..." I said scratching the back of my head.
"No they both didn't, and now they are..." He pointed at the two, "like that,"
"Hey, Percy, can we be friends, I don't want any cold blood between the two of us," I said, changing the subject.
"Sure," He said as he took out his textbook. Soon enough, class started and we stopped talking.
I realized, for the first time, I saw Samara and Keira sitting apart from each other, not talking, not anything. This clearly was not going to end pretty, but I did know they would come back to each other, how could they not.
We started to do our work, the teacher had left to get something printed and we were left to finish up our assignments. Percy tapped me on the shoulder and whispered into my ear.
"You're going to have to mend that," He said pointing at the two girls. "Or it'll end terribly for us,"
"Hey, what about you?" I whispered back, "I'm not doing this alone,"
"You aren't," He replied back as he wrote in his notebook, "I got Keira, you got Samara," He looked up at me, "Then we switch,"
"Fine, today at lunch I suppose?" I asked as I got my laptop out, "I expect Keira to be sitting alone and Samara with Felicia and the other girls,"
"Yeah, sure," He said turning back to his work.
I hoped that this would work, I didn't want to be the reason that Kiera and Samara wouldn't be friends anymore. I didn't want to be caught between them nor the reason either. It shouldn't be because of me that they break apart if that is the case, I knew that all I could do was back off. I couldn't bear to lose either of the girls.
I sighed as I went back to work, soon enough the bell rang. I got whatever the teacher had printed and so did the girls and Percy. We walked out and Percy brought Keira over to me and Samara.
"What grade did you get on your paper?" He asked as he stared at his, "I got 85 percent,"
"I got an 85 too," I replied back. "Keira? Samara?"
Samara glanced and I and Percy, "I got a 90," She said, "And you Keira?" She said with a hint of unfriendliness to Keira.
"I got a 93," She smiled at the two of us, and finally, at Samara.
Keira turned and walked away, Percy hurrying after her. Samara huffed and walked in the opposite direction to her locker. I went after her and bugged her for answers.
"Why are you guys so mad at each other," I paused, "are you mad at me?"
"Yes and because I can't believe she wouldn't come to me for help," Samara grabbed her sweater and her lunch kit.
I wondered why she would take her sweater and I realized that she was going to go out for her lunch, instead of sitting in the cafeteria with Keira, which was what was normal, until now.
"It's cold outside, why would you go out there?" I asked stopping her before she headed out the door.
"It's only fall, it's not like it'll kill me like the winter might," She said shoving past me and out the door.
I hurried to my locker and threw my bag in and grabbed the sweater that Percy gave me along with my lunch. I ran after Samara and found her sitting on the bench by the trees.
The dying leaves falling down around her, the dried out leaves crunching under our feet. She looked concentrated on the sketchbook in her lap, drawing something out.
"Don't move," She said. I froze in place and she quickly drew something out.
"Can I come sit now?" I asked trying to get her attention without ruining the pose.
"Not quite..." She made quick strokes on the page and finally looked up, "Okay, now you can,"
I sat beside her to look at the picture on the paper. I stared in awe at her amazing talent.
"What do you think?" She asked, her voice questioning her own talent.
"It's beautiful," I replied looking back at her.
We held each other's gaze, smiles appearing on both our faces. Her eyes flickered and the smile faded, a frown replacing it.
"I'm sorry," She gathered her things and stood up, "I can't do this to her," And with that, she ran off.

I'm thinking of putting this on hold... no one seems to read it much and I've been on writes block for this particular story. Leave your thoughts below.
