Chapter 8: The Best Surprise

It was a typical Tuesday morning at Blossom Dreams, Jimin’s flower shop. The scent of fresh lilies and roses filled the air as Jimin arranged a new bouquet by the front window. Business had been steady, and he found solace in the vibrant colors of his flowers, even if his thoughts often wandered to Jungkook and how busy he always was.

As Jimin focused on his arrangements, the bell above the shop door chimed. “Welcome to Blossom Dre—” Jimin’s greeting died on his lips as he looked up and saw Jungkook standing there, dressed in casual jeans and a hoodie, grinning at him.

“Jungkook?” Jimin blinked, surprised. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”

Jungkook smiled, leaning against the doorframe. “Surprise! I took the day off.”

Jimin’s jaw dropped. “You took a day off? You never take a day off!” He set down the flowers he was holding, wiping his hands on his apron as he walked toward Jungkook, still in shock.

“I know,” Jungkook chuckled, “but I wanted to spend today with you. No meetings, no emails—just you and me.”

Jimin’s heart fluttered. Jungkook never took time away from his responsibilities at the company, and for him to do this now, to show up out of the blue, was a huge gesture. “You didn’t have to do that,” Jimin said softly, smiling up at him.

“I wanted to,” Jungkook said earnestly. “I’ve been so busy lately, and I feel like we haven’t had a proper day together in a while. So, I thought—what better time than now?”

Jimin’s eyes softened, feeling a wave of warmth and gratitude wash over him. “You’re amazing, you know that?”

Jungkook grinned, pulling Jimin into a quick embrace. “I know. And today, I’m going to give you the best date ever. So close up shop early because we’ve got plans.”

Jimin laughed, his smile widening as he stepped back to grab his things. “You’ve got me curious now. What exactly do you have planned?”

“You’ll see,” Jungkook winked, taking Jimin’s hand as they walked out of the shop together.

Their first stop was a cozy brunch at a small café that Jimin had mentioned loving but never had time to visit. They sat in a private corner, sipping coffee and sharing pastries, chatting about everything and nothing. Jungkook was so attentive, and Jimin couldn’t help but feel like they were in their own little bubble, away from the stress and noise of the world.

After brunch, Jungkook took Jimin to a nearby park where the trees were just beginning to turn orange and gold with the changing season. They strolled hand in hand along the peaceful paths, enjoying the crisp autumn air. At one point, they rented bicycles and rode around the park, laughing and racing each other, feeling carefree and light.

As the afternoon rolled into evening, Jungkook had one final surprise. He brought Jimin to a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a golden glow over everything. Jimin gasped at the view as they were seated at a candlelit table for two, with the skyline stretching out before them.

“Jungkook, this is…” Jimin trailed off, his eyes sparkling as he looked out at the city. “This is incredible.”

Jungkook smiled, reaching across the table to take Jimin’s hand. “I wanted to make today special for you.”

Jimin’s heart swelled with affection as he looked into Jungkook’s eyes, knowing just how much effort he had put into planning the day. “You did. This is perfect. I didn’t know I needed this, but I’m so glad you’re here.”

They enjoyed a delicious meal, reminiscing about how they met and laughing at old memories. It felt like time stood still, just the two of them, lost in each other’s company. As they finished dessert, the stars began to twinkle above them, and Jimin felt a deep sense of contentment wash over him.

After dinner, they took a walk along the rooftop garden, the cool breeze carrying the scent of flowers as they stopped by the railing, looking out over the city lights below.

Jimin leaned into Jungkook’s side, resting his head on his shoulder. “Thank you for today,” he whispered. “It was everything I didn’t know I needed.”

Jungkook wrapped an arm around Jimin, holding him close. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. I know how busy we’ve both been, but I don’t want work to ever come between us. You mean too much to me.”

Jimin smiled softly, his heart full. “You’re always so thoughtful. I love you, Jungkook.”

Jungkook turned to face him, his expression tender. “I love you too, Jimin. More than anything.”

They stood there for a while, the city lights shimmering below them, the world around them fading away. Jimin felt completely at peace, knowing that no matter how busy life got, they would always make time for each other.

And that night, as they walked home hand in hand, Jimin couldn’t stop smiling, knowing that today had truly been the best date ever.
