Chapter 30: A Firm Decision
Jungkook took a deep breath, gathering his courage before speaking to his parents. “Mom, Dad, I have something to say.”
His parents looked at him expectantly, their eyes filled with warmth and curiosity. “Yes, baby. What is it?” his mother asked, her voice soft and encouraging.
“I want to get married.”
His parents’ eyes widened in shock, then filled with joy at the news. But their expressions shifted when Jungkook continued, “But not with Ara.”
The silence that followed was palpable, both of his parents momentarily speechless as they processed the unexpected turn. They knew Jungkook had grown close to Ara, and the abruptness of the statement left them numb.
“If not Ara, who?” his father finally asked, his brow furrowing with concern and curiosity.
“Jimin.” It was a simple answer, but it carried the weight of Jungkook’s heart and the finality of his decision.
For a moment, the room was silent, the reality of Jungkook’s words settling in. His father’s face broke into a smile, and he gently tapped Jungkook’s shoulder. “My son... that’s what you should have done a long time ago. I know Jimin is a good guy. He’s perfect for you.”
Jungkook’s eyes brimmed with tears, overwhelmed by the support and understanding from his father. “Dad…”
“Go, go get your husband back.” His father’s encouragement sent a rush of hope through Jungkook, filling him with a renewed sense of determination.
He turned to his mother, who had been silent, her expression unreadable. “Mom…” he said softly, fear creeping into his voice. What if she didn’t approve?
“Jungkook, my son…” She cupped his face gently, wiping away the tears that had fallen down his cheeks. “I love you. You know that, right?”
Jungkook nodded vigorously, relief flooding through him.
“I want you to be happy,” she continued, pausing as if searching for the right words. “Happy with...”
“Mom…” Jungkook urged, sensing her hesitation.
“With whoever you choose to be with, my son. If it’s Jimin, then yes, I wholeheartedly approve. He lacks nothing; he brings light into your life in a way no one else can. He’s a wonderful partner for you, with or without a womb. You need to understand that your love for each other transcends all of that. You deserve to be happy, and he deserves to be happy, too. It hurts to see you both so lost without each other. I want you to know that Jimin is perfect just the way he is, flaws and all. The world can be so cruel, and I can see how it has weighed on both of you. So go, son. Go get your husband back. Don’t let fear or pride stand in the way of a love that should never have been interrupted. Make things right. You both deserve a second chance at happiness, no matter the obstacles. Remember, love is what truly matters.”
Jungkook’s heart swelled at her words, gratitude and love coursing through him. “Thank you, Mom. Thank you so much.” He pulled her into a tight embrace, feeling the warmth of her love and support enveloping him.
With newfound resolve, Jungkook knew he had to make things right with Jimin. He was determined to win back the love of his life and show him that their love could overcome any obstacle.
