The Unwanted Union
The grand wedding ceremony was nothing short of perfection, but beneath the surface, both Yoongi and Y/N were seething. For them, this wasn't the fairy tale beginning their families had envisioned. It was an obligation—a binding contract neither had wanted.
Yoongi, a successful software engineer, had spent years focusing on his career, with no interest in being tied down by an arranged marriage. He had hoped his parents would understand, but their influence and social standing meant that his wishes were overridden. And now, here he was, standing beside a woman he'd only met today, resenting the situation.
Y/N, in her third year of medical college, had her own reasons for being unhappy. Her heart was still with someone else—someone she had been forced to leave behind because of this arrangement. The thought of spending her life with Yoongi, a man she didn't know and didn't want to know, filled her with anger and sadness. The elaborate ceremony felt hollow, a performance for the sake of their families' reputations.
As they exchanged vows, the tension between them was palpable. There were no soft smiles or tender glances, just cold, obligatory words. Y/N's eyes reflected her resentment, and Yoongi's gaze was equally hard, both of them silently wishing they were anywhere but there.
The first days of their marriage were marked by awkward silences and curt exchanges. Y/N barely spoke to Yoongi, choosing instead to bury herself in her studies. She avoided him whenever possible, spending long hours at college, and when she was home, she kept to herself.
Yoongi, equally frustrated, threw himself into his work, staying late at the office just to avoid coming home. When they did cross paths, their conversations were brief and filled with underlying hostility. Both of them were determined not to show any vulnerability, each thinking the other was nothing more than an obstacle in their lives.
One evening, after a particularly bitter argument about something trivial, Y/N snapped, "You're not the person I wanted to marry. I didn't choose this, and I'm not going to pretend to like it."
Yoongi's expression hardened, his own anger flaring. "You think I'm happy about this? I never wanted to marry someone who doesn't even try to make this work."
Their words hung in the air, both of them glaring at each other, the distance between them seemingly insurmountable. But beneath the anger, there was a flicker of something else—pain, frustration, and perhaps even a tiny spark of understanding. They were both trapped in a situation neither of them had wanted, both hurting in their own way.
For now, that spark was buried beneath layers of resentment. But as they turned away from each other that night, it was clear that this story was far from over. Despite their mutual dislike, the journey they had unwillingly embarked on was just beginning, and neither of them could predict where it would lead.
