The Struggle-Tam and Linh's POV

A/N: Hello again! Here's an update! It's really long. :)

It's Tam's POV first. Then Linh's after the break.

Blearily, I opened my eyes, and saw nothing but a grayness before me.

I tried to sit up, but something was holding me down, and there was an uncomfortable weight on my ankles, chest, and forehead.

Lifting my head, I saw Sophie, strapped to a table, and it all came rushing back to me.

Keefe betrayed us.

The Neverseen were too quick to put up a resistance for long.

We must be in a Neverseen hideout.

I heard stirring beside me, and turned my head towards Sophie.

"Are you okay?"

She moaned.

"I've been better."

A sigh escaped her lips.

"Keefe betrayed us. Again. But how? It's not like the Neverseen knew that I was going to make toffee."

I bit my lip. She had a good point.

"Maybe they used a trigger word or something."

"What would they use though? How could they guarantee that I would be there and not someone else?"

A thought suddenly struck me.

"Maybe the word was 'like'."

Sophie turned her head towards me, and for the first time I saw the circlet around her head.

Confusion, and a little bit of embarrassment colored her face.

"But- Keefe. Why would that  be the trigger word?"

I groaned.

Is she really that clueless?

"Sophie. Keefe likes you. The Neverseen probably thought that the next time Keefe was going to say like would be with you."

I paused, recalling the conversation we had earlier.

"Or liked. I'm not sure...."

"What makes you say that?"

I closed my eyes, turning my face away from Sophie so she couldn't see me.

"Keefe, he likes me.... He told me earlier. That's why he was over at my house."

There was a slight pause.

"But you told me that he played a prank on you. You were even wet."

I sighed.

"We got into a fight and Keefe fell into Linh's room, and we both got wet through her door."

A mixture of confusion and clarity blossomed in her face.

"Right. Her waterfall door. Dex installed it for her. I remember. he had to change 7 times."

I nodded.

Sophie bit her lip, and she looked like she was about to cry.

I wanted to reach out to her than it was going to be okay, but I couldn't lie to her.

Her eyes welled up with tears, and she stared at me, looking for answers.

"Why Tam? Why would Keefe betray us?"

"And for the second time too,"

I muttered bitterly.

"And why does he like you? The two of you hate each other."

"I don't know Sophie. He....didn't tell me."

"You hate him.....Right?"

I had to tell her.

"Sophie.....I don't know how I feel about Keefe right now. Or how I felt about him before."

"Oh. Okay."

She took in a deep breath.

"So you might not....hate him."

"Yeah."

Linh was going to freak.

"Sophie! Linh!"

Sophie jerked to look at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Linh! She's supposed to come home! I didn't tell her where I was going because I thought I would be home before her."

Sophie closed her eyes.

"Edaline might check up on me, but I don't think she is going to be able to. She's on some animal mission for the Council. Something she couldn't tell me about. And Grady is on a mission for the Council too. They said that their Imparters might not work."

"How are they going to find us?"

"I don't know Tam. I don't know."

"Can you ask for help? Or is that one of Dex's?"

Sophie sighed.

"It's a Restrictor. I can't communicate to anyone."

"I have a circlet on my head too, don't I?"

Sophie nodded.

"Tam, why would Dex make all of these? Did he betray us too? Can I trust anyone?"

"Sophie. I can't lie to you. I don't have answers for your questions. We can only hope that there's someone we can trust."

Silence settled upon the two of us, but Sophie soon broke it.

"I think all of these things on us are Ability Restrictors."

I tried to levitate, but it didn't work.

"I think there's also a Skill Restrictor function on one of these. I can't levitate."

"Neither can I. So we're stuck."

"Yeah. I hope someone realizes that we're gone."

Sophie brightened, and I looked at her hopefully.

"I forgot about Sandor! Today is his day off, but he said that he would be coming back when the sun sets!"

I bit my lip.

"But who is he going to tell?"

Sophie frowned, but shook her head.

"I have faith in my bodyguard. Sandor has done the impossible before. He can save us."

"But he needs to do it soon Tam. The Neverseen thought of everything this time."

We stopped talking, and I heard footsteps coming closer.

"Someone's coming. Go to sleep."

We both closed our eyes, and relaxed, pretending we were still under sedatives.

I heard a door creak open, and heard shuffling, and the sounds of something heavy being dragged towards us.

Metal screeched against the floor, chains clanked, and I heard clicks and objects being clamped down.

Low mutterings came from somewhere, but I wasn't sure who it was.

Something brushed by me, and I heard the door slam shut, and the door being locked.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, and tried to see what just happened.

Nothing could have prepared me for the sight of the boy who just betrayed us, beat up and bloody, chained to a chair, and his head hanging limp.

"Keefe?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: This is going to be Linh's POV now.
"Goodnight Linh."
"Goodnight Fitz!"
I hugged my boyfriend goodbye and skipped into the house.
I had a wonderful date with Fitz, we went on a picnic, took a romantic stroll around the woods of Everglen, and went to Atlantis to finish it off.
I sighed, thinking about all the laughs I had, and how special he made me feel.
Just the thought of Fitz, it warmed me, and I really wanted to tell Tam about it!
"Tammy!!! Where are you? I'm hooooooome! TAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!"
Huh. He wasn't answering.
Maybe he was up in his room, moping and listening to the iPod Sophie and Dex gave to him.
Running up the stairs to his room, I called,
"TAAAAMMMMYYY!!!!! FITZ CALLED YOU BANGS BOY!!!"
That was a lie, kind of, he almost  called him "Bangs Boy," but it always  brought him running.
Except for this time.
Hmmm......
I wonder where he could be.
I pulled out my Imparter, but there were no missed calls from him.
I tried to call him, but he wasn't answering.
I bit my lip.
This wasn't like him.
"Maybe he's at Biana's. Or Dex's. Why? I don't know. But maybe,"
I mused aloud.
I called Biana.
She said that he wasn't there.
When I called Dex, he didn't pick up.
"I guess I'll try Sophie."
I quickly called her, begging to pick up, but there was nothing.
Sophie didn't pick up.
I was getting a little worried by now, so I went out on a last-ditch effort and called Keefe.
I heard ringing coming from somewhere, and I quickly found it.
Inside my room, under my chair was an Imparter.
Keefe's.
"Why would Keefe's Imparter be in my room? Where's Tam? Is he in trouble?"
But no one answered my questions.
Then, my Imparter began to ring.
Eagerly, I answered, only to see a face that looked very familiar.
I glanced at who was calling.
Kesler Dizznee.
It must be Dex's dad.
"Hello? Sir Kesler? Is Dex okay? He didn't pick up when I called him."
The man looked weary and scared.
He chuckled, and spoke.
"I'm not nobility. It's just Kesler. And I'm calling because Dex is at the Healing Center. You need to come. I tried calling Sophie, but there was no answer. It's Linh, right?"
I nodded.
Why was Dex at the Healing Center?
"Is Dex okay? How did he get hurt?"
Dex's dad sighed.
"Is Sophie with you?"
I shook my head.
"I tried to call her earlier. Is my brother Tam with you?"
Kesler was silent, and he just shook his head, tearing streaming down his face.
"Linh, I'm so sorry. Come over to the Healing Center when you can. Dex was attacked by the Neverseen. And we know of a new member. He hurt Dex."
I gasped, nearly dropping my Imparter in shock.
"Who is it?"
Kesler bit his lip.
"It's better if Dex tells you in person."
"I'll be right there,"
I promised and hung up on him, stuffing my Imparter into my dress.
I scribbled a note to Tam, and raced outside, pulling out a pathfinder to Foxfire as I did so.
"Foxfire!"
As I faded away, I silently hoped that Tam was okay wherever he was, and that he would pick up his Imparter and soon.
I had a sinking feeling that something every bad was going to happen, and I wanted my twin at my side.
A/N: Hello again! Linh's right. Something very bad is about to happen. I am going to not be posting for awhile because I need to plot it out, I'm sorry.... :s
But I'll post as soon as I can! I promise.
