An Open Door-Third Person's POV

A/N: Hello!! AGAIN!! SO SORRY ABOUT THE FREAKISHLY LONG WAIT!! I've been busy. WAAAAAY too busy. (Who needs sleep anyways?)

Anyways, I'm back! And made update!

Here you go!

Tam stood up from his place by Sophie’s side, and Sophie moved protectively towards Keefe.

“What’s happening?”

“I don’t know.”

“What do you think is behind that door?”

“Something bad.”

Across the room, a small door had emerged from the wall, the outline stark against the glowing wall.
“Keefe. Go see what’s inside.”

“What? Why Keefe?”

“He’s the most expendable of us all. And it’s not like the Neverseen are going to tell us what it is.”

“Tam!”

“Go Keefe.”

“Sophie, it’s alright. Tam’s….right.”

“No. I won't let you."

Keefe staggered to his feet, but Sophie ran forwards, crashing against the wall in her haste, causing the door to swing open.

“Sophie, NO!”

Tam and Keefe shouted in unison, but Sophie ignored them and her aching shoulder, crawling into the dark space.
And the door shut behind her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“It’s a bathroom?”
Sophie had just crawled through a rather tight space, going up and down sloping floors and possibly walls, until she met a solid door.
Finding a crevice in which to open the door, Sophie pushed it aside, to find herself bathed in warm yellow light, facing a small sink, and a tub and toilet to her left.
Underneath the sink was a small cabinet, and Sophie gingerly opened it.
“This is so weird. Shampoo, soap, CONDITIONER?”
As she spoke, Sophie took them out, smelling the scent.
“Ooh! Lavender! Tea tree! Apple mint?”
Sophie looked around in surprise.
“These are nice things! Super suspicious.”
The ceiling was low, but Sophie was able to stand up and look around the room for anything vaguely suspicious.
She looked in all the corners, behind the tub curtain, in the drain, the toilet, but found nothing.
“This is crazy. Too good to be true.”
Sophie backed out of the room, and closed the door, immersing herself in darkness once again.
She crawled backwards over the slopes she climbed over earlier.
Sophie banged her foot against a shaky wall.
"Ouch. I found the door?"
Squeezing herself tight, Sophie phie inched her way around, regretting not turning around at the bathroom.
After multiple tries, and several pokes in the eye and side, she managed to get herself facing the door, and tumbled out, rather cartoonishly.
“Sophie! Are you okay? And don’t go in there! You could have gotten hurt!”
Keefe staggered over to her, his thin frame collapsing with each step.
“It’s a bathroom.”
“What?”
Tam looked at her strangely, and seeing that she wasn’t kidding, slipped in before anyone could protest.
“Is-it really a bath-ro-om?”
Keefe’s breaths came out in gasps, and Sophie’s heart struggled.
He looked so pitiful, but at the same time, he had really hurt her…
“Why’d you betray us again Keefe?”
Sophie’s voice broke when she said his name, and Keefe heard it.
“I-I don’t know. I don’t even remember doing it honestly. I-I promise I wouldn’t have done it Sophie though! It-I don’t think I actually did it.”
Sophie’s nose wrinkled.
Keefe halted.
“Well, I did it, as in my body, but my mind doesn’t, well, I don’t think I did it, if that makes sense….”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T THINK YOU BETRAYED US?!”
Tam burst out of the small door, eyes flaring, jumping to his feet.
He shoved Keefe away from Sophie, who had inched closer to him, ready to fight him.
“I’m-I’m sorry Tam! But I honestly have no idea what happened before I woke up in here!”
“And your awful bangs.”
Keefe smirked as Tam got riled up even more, but seeing this, Tam tried to focus on the situation at hand.
“So you’re saying that you don’t remember anything.”
“N-no. Sophie, can you do your-”
“No Keefe. I can’t. Look at these.”
Sophie raised her shackled wrists, and pointed at the circlet around her head.
“Please, Sophie, you have to believe me. I was probably Washed, and maybe even Mesmered or Beguiled into betraying you! I never would have betrayed you!”
“Tch. Yeah right, Mr. I Love the Neverseen and Betrayed Sophie For Them and Probably Wouldn’t Hesitate To Do It Again.”
Tam shot a scathing look at Keefe, and turned sharply away.
He stalked over to the tables they were laying on, and began to tear them apart, which was really quite remarkable because they were metal and pretty bolted down.
Sophie and Keefe both turned to look at the boy tearing apart metal sheets like they were paper, muscles taunt, ignoring the blood dripping down his fingers, and the slices in his palms.
“Should I stop him?”
“No, better the tables than me.”
“Besides, that’s really sexy.”
Keefe thought this to himself, but Sophie gasped.
“Keefe!”
“What?”
Then he realized that he must have said it aloud.
“Sexily crazy?”
Sophie just shook her head, and walked away, towards Tam.
She picked up a shard of metal, and held it to her side.
Gritting her teeth, Sophie sliced down, tearing through the wires exposed after her wriggle through the tunnel, drawing blood.
The tech wraparound was practically a corset, but Sophie bit down harder, doing her best to only graze her skin.
Keefe watched this, breath bated.
He wished he was strong enough to help her, but he could barely stand, let alone tear off the tech things around his wrists too.
“And whatever these finger gloves are.”
Keefe tried to slip a finger underneath one, but it tightened around his hand, making Keefe wince.
“I don’t understand how she does it.”
Shaking his head, Keefe laid down in the corner, feeling the need to rest, and watched the people he cared about the most go to work trashing their prison.
Surrounded by funky tools and metal prong things, Dex shoved his hair out of his face, carefully holding a dropper over a small, exposed mess of wires.
Ever so slowly and carefully, he placed a small drop of fluid upon a teal wire, and took a thin sliver of metal, smoothing it out.
A soft clearing of the throat from the doorway reminded Dex of where he was, and he looked up.
“Hi Linh!”
“Hi Dex. I wanted to thank you for the small treats by my pillow. They were delicious.”
Shyly, Linh smiled, walking over to Dex, her clean and breezy scent following.
A blanket was wrapped around her shoulders, and a loose top flowed around her figure, making it hard for Dex to focus.
Rapidly, he blinked, breathing in and out.
“What are you working on?”
Linh’s hands briefly touched Dex’s shoulders, and she sat down next to him.
“It’s something to pinpoint Sophie and Tam’s location, and to deactivate any technology around them! I’m hoping to be able to get this close enough to them to send out electronic pulses to disrupt any of the tech around them. And I’m also working on a way to do this remotely, though it would be really hard. And I don’t have Sophie’s Enhancing talent to help me…”
Dex held up a small brown orb that looked like a speaker ball, and a small box with several buttons on it.
Gently, Linh took it from his fingers, looking over it.
“What if we-”
And then Linh launched into tech babble that Dex knew instinctively, but it was still so absurd.
“I- What. Wait. What?!”
Linh smiled shyly again.
“After you looked so down about not having anyone to talk to about your tech talk, I wanted to understand what you were talking about so you wouldn’t be so lonely.”
Flabbergasted, Dex just sat there, looking at the sweet girl in front of him.
“That-that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.”
“Thank-thank you Linh.”
“How’d you learn?”
“I asked Lady Almestra for help.”
“Huh. I didn’t think she knew!”
Just then, Dex felt a slight buzzing, and looked down at his hand.
“What’s that?”
Linh was peering intently at the flashing ring on his hand, which was blinking white then dark grey.
“That’s my Panic ring. I programmed it to flash whenever it was damaged or removed so that I would know if they ever needed something, but I’ve never seen…”
Then Dex gasped.
“LINH! THAT’S TAM’S SIGNAL!!”
Dex grabbed his Imparter, typing in a long sequence, and clicked on the icon that popped up next.
“I know where they are. But...for my plan to work, I’m going to need someone’s help...Someone who probably isn’t going to be interested in helping…”
“Biana.”
“Yeah….”
“Okay. Let’s focus on that then.”
Linh ruffled through Dex's shockingly organized drawings and found a couple of half-finished devices.
"My amplifier and truth finder? But they didn't work! What are you going to do with them?"
Silently, Linh pulled out a few wires, the crossing them with another, and loosed some screws here and tightened them there.
"See?"
Holding up the finished product, a cleaner device with a little scanner and antenna at the top and a screen in the center, Linh smiled proudly.
"Wait. That's actually so cool!!"
Dex shrieked, and looked all over the new device, grinning happily.
"You finally made it work! You're amazing Linh!"
He picked her up, spinning the hydrokinetic around, and gave her a big hug.
"I know how we can bait her to come with us!"
Linh's face fell, and Dex quickly rephrased his words.
"Uh, I mean, get her to help us?"
"Yeah, I know what you meant, I just wish we didn't have to kind of trick her…"
"Yeah, me too…"
They kind of scuffed their feet, the excitement level in the room quickly dropping to dread.
"I guess we should go...get Biana...maybe…"
Linh nodded, and reached out to grab Dex's hand.
"It'll be okay Dex. I'm sure Biana will at least listen to us."
And she didn't let go until they reached Everglen.
