Ch.2 The Encounter

Adrien didn't know what to do. He was a cat! He couldn't go home like this! He ran out of the alleyway. He didn't know where he was going, but he was hoping he could find someone he knew. It was late at night and barely anyone was out, let alone anyone he recognized.

"What are you going to do even if you do recognize someone?" Plagg asked.

Adrien thought about it. What would he do? He could only speak in meows, they wouldn't be able to understand him.

Adrien felt a drop on his head. He looked up, only to be greeted by a few more! It had begun raining. Adrien looked around him for a cover and saw a cardboard box and he ran to it and got in it just as it begin pouring. Adrien sighed and tried to get comfortable. It was going to be a long night.

Marinette looked out of her window, worried for her partner.

"Maybe I could go and check one more time?" She asked herself. She was about to transform when Tikki stopped her.

"Marinette, there would be no point right now. You searched the entire city to no avail, and now it's raining. The rain would limit your vision and your movement. Maybe Cat Noir is at home right now! You can continue the search tomorrow, but right now, the best thing you can do is sleep," Tikki advised.

Marinette took one last long look out the window and then sighed. Tikki was right, she wouldn't be able to get much done in this storm. Marinette laid in her bed and tried to go to sleep, but she couldn't. She was to worried about cat noir. She looked up at the ceiling.

Maybe he really was at home. Maybe he was sound asleep without a care in the world. That's was she hoped was the truth. But her instincts told her this was something more, that he was indeed in trouble.

Unknown to her, she was right.

Natalie walked towards Gabriel Agreste's office. She paused in front of the door, took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Come in" Gabriel said

"Sir, we have a problem." She said

"I'm not a patient man Natalie, what's the problem?" He asked

"It's Adrien. He is missing," Natalie said.

Gabriel paused. He knew she wouldn't bring it up to him if it wasn't serious.

"Have you tracked his phone?" Gabriel asked

"Yes, it seemed all his things were just outside of the school," Natalie said.

Gabriel paused. Adrien wouldn't run away, this was serious.

"Notify the police. I want my son found, understood?" Gabriel said.

"Yes, sir," Natalie said and left the room to go notify the police.

Gabriel walked in front of a large painting of him and Adrien.

"Son, you can't disappear. Not you too," he said.

The next morning, Marinette woke up really early. She couldn't sleep, she was too worried about her partner. She looked out her window, it was still pouring.

She didn't care. She needed to find him.

"Tikki spots on!" Marinette said.

Ladybug transformed and went about looking through the city, she kept trying to call him as well, but no response. As she looked through the city, she noticed and abnormal amount of police officers were out, and it looked like they were searching for something.

Or someone

She dropped down and went to go talk to an officer. As she got closer, she realized it was Sabrina's dad.

"Hey officer, what's going on?" Ladybug asked.

"Oh ladybug! Didn't expect to see you in this nasty weather. We received a call late last night that Adrien Agreste was missing. We're currently proceeding it as suspicious circumstances and that he was likely kidnaped," He said.

Ladybug's eyes widened. First Cat Noir was Missing, now Adrien was kidnaped?! Could this day get any worse?

"I'll keep a look out for him. Thank you for notifying me," Ladybug said and then continued going through the city. After another hour, she was soaked to the bone, and hadn't found any sign of either of them.

She went home and detransformed, then proceeded to take a long shower. When she finished, she hot dressed and went downstairs. Her parents were both busy in the bakery.

Marinette looked outside. Where could they be? She made a promise to herself that she would find them, no matter how long it took.

She went upstairs, grabbed her raincoat and umbrella, then went back downstairs.

" papa, I'm going outside," she said

"Okay, don't be too long though, I don't want you to catch a cold," he said.

Marinette walked through the streets of Paris. So much had happened in the past few days, it was almost overwhelming. Marinette was so lost in thought she didn't realize how far she had gotten from her house.

She was about to turn and head home when something made her stop. She could've sworn she just heard a-

"Meow"

There was no denying it now, she heard it twice. She walked up to where she heard the noise and bent down. She was greeted by a black cat, who was shivering from the cold and the rain.

" oh you poor thing," Marinette said.

She looked for a collar but couldn't find one. Was he a stray? Either way, Marinette knee she couldn't leave a poor kitty out in this rain. He would freeze to death!

Marinette gently move her hand towards the cat and stroked him behind the ear.

"It's okay, I won't hurt you, I want to help," she said.

The cst's eyes looked as if they trusted her, so she gently picked him up and brought him home.

When she got home, her father saw the cat as she walked in.

"Marinette, where did you find a cat?" He asked.

"I found him in a cardboard box out in the rain. He didn't have a collar and I couldn't leave him out there, so I brought him home," marinette explained.

Tom sighed.

"Alright, but he's your responsibility, got it?" He asked

"Yes papa," marinette said.

She went upstairs and got a towel, then began gently drying her furry friend dry. When she finished, she stroked his head.

"You need a name," Marinette said.

When marinette said this the cat looked up at her.

"How about Asher?" Marinette asked

The cat responded by shaking his head.

"Hmm, how about Felix?" She asked.

He shook his head again

She looked at the black cat, who was now looking at her with his bright green eyes.

"You know, you remind me of a certain black cat," she mumbled

"How about Cat Noir?" She asked

The cat then meowed in approval.

"Okay then, your name is Cat Noir, but I'll call you Cat for short," she said.

"You stay here. I'll go get you a few things," marinette said.

She returned with a bowl full of water and a croissant ham and cheese sandwich.

"Sorry cat, but it's all I've got for you right now, I hope you like it," she said.

Cat went up to the sandwich and sniffed it, then he ate the whole thing.

"Wow, I guess you really did like it," Marinette said stroking his hair.

Cat meowed again and Marinette stroked him.

After a while it became late. Marinette went downstairs and got a blanket for cat.

"Hey cat, you can either sleep on the blanket or in bed with me if you want, whatever makes you comfortable," marinette said.

Without a second thought, cat went straight for the blanket and got comfy, Marinette was a bit shocked, but then smiled.

As she was lying in bed, Tikki flew out.

"Tikki, you've been quiet today," she noted

"Well, in the past, is a cat saw me.
They would chase after me." Tikki said.

Marinette giggled.

"Is that why you've been hiding all day?" She asked.

Tikki nodded.

"Well, he's asleep right now, so he can't hurt you," she said.

Tikki looked over at the cat, he was snuggled in a ball and sound asleep.

Tikki giggled.

"Well, it's late Marinette, you should be sleeping too," she said.

"Goodnight Tikki," marinette said

"Goodnight," she responded

Adrien couldn't believe his luck. He was in the cardboard box, absolutely freezing when he saw footsteps. He let out a small meow and the footsteps came nearer. As the footstepsncame closer and the person bent down, he was relieved to see it was Marinette!

She took him home and took care of him. He was happy she had saved him from the rain, but had no ideas how he was going to tell her he was human!

When she mentioned a name, Adrien looked at her. He wished he could talk to her, but all that would come out were meows.

"Asher?" She had asked.

Adrien shook his head. Nope. No way.

"Felix?" She asked.

Adrien shook his head again. He was waiting for a name he could at least semi relate to.

"You remind me of a certain cat..." she mumbled.

"How about cat noir?" She asked.

He meowed, which she took as him liking the name, but he was trying to tell her that that was him.

"Marinette! It's me, I am Cat Noir!" He tried to say. Of course, marinette couldn't understand him.

"Okay, I'll call you Cat for short, stay here, I need to get a few things," she said

Adrien saw her leave and then sighed

"At least we're out of the rain" Plagg said

"Yes, but how am I going to tell marinette im cat noir?" Adrien asked.

"She's a smart girl, I'm sure she'll figure it out eventually," Plagg said

"I hope you're right Plagg," adrien said

When marinette returned, she can back with a bowl of water and a croissant filled with cheese and ham,

When Adrien approached it he immediately ate it all, he was starving!

"Oh thank god, there was some form of cheese in there," Plagg said

Adrien inwardly rolled his eyes.

Once nightfall had hit, marinette went back downstairs and can back with a blanket.

"So, you can either sleep on the blanket or in bed with me, whatever makes you comfortable," marinette said

Adrien instantly started heading towards the blanket.

"Hey, where are you going?" Plagg asked

"Toward the blanket," Adrien replied

"But the bed would be so much more comfortable," Plagg said

"If you think we are sleeping in the bed with marinette you are out of your mind," Adrien said

"Why not? She thinks you are a cat," Plagg said

"But I know I'm not, and I'm not going to intrude on Marinette's privacy,"

Plagg sighed, conceding the battle. He was too tired to keep up the argument.!

Adrien got in a comfortable position, and let himself fall asleep, wondering if he's ever turn back to his human self.
