Chapter 8

Back at the clock tower, the clan had been in disarray when Brooklyn had at the moment been missing.

Goliath himself was feeling the worst, hating having lost his new Second in Command right after giving him the position, sitting on the outside of the clock and gazing out, wondering where on Earth the younger gargoyle could be.

Broadway struggled with his cooking, which was not right without Brooklyn's presence, once having burned a chicken, Lex coming to save it from burning the place down. Broadway had growled in disappointment, throwing his fork, eyes glowing, wishing he could find Brooklyn, wherever he was.

Lexington stared at his brother in small fear, usually not liking when he got angry, attempted a small hand on Broadway's arm. The blue gargoyle turned around sharply, only to meet his smaller clanmate's concerned eyes, before sighing.

"'M sorry Lex. But... I just really miss him..." Broadway said shakily, tail swishing from his sadness.

The green gargoyle nodded, taking his hand. "I know, but I know we'll find Brook. He is still alive, I know it. Though lately, I'm worried that someone could've taken him."

Broadway's eyes rounded at the idea of anybody stealing his brother. "You think we should let Elisa know?"

Lex nodded. "You can go and check if she has seen anything if you want."

It made the larger male grin a little then nod, turning to go to the clock tower entrance, Goliath and Hudson there noticing. "And where might ya be off to, lad?"

Broadway tensed, looking back at them. "J-Just to see Elisa. But I'll be careful, I promise." He pleaded. The elder soon agreed to what he wanted to do, watching Broadway glide off to Elisa's apartment.

After some time gliding above the buildings, Broadway soon spotted Elisa's place, soaring down then knocking on the glass window. Elisa jumped then noticed Broadway there, going to let him in.

"Hi, Broadway. Any news?" She asked, Broadway shaking his head. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about."

The detective claimed she had no updates on her end, making Broadway sigh in disappointment, turning on the tv to amuse himself. After flipping through some channels, he came across something that made Broadway tense up. A news lady was talking to a guard in a bank. "And now, we talk to one of the victims at the bank robbery incident. Sir, can you tell us who attacked you?"

The guard on the tv nodded, shaking badly. "It... it was horrible. Red, glowing eyes, devil wings and beak... he... attacked my men, taking the money. I think... it was, one of those creatures!"

Turning to the camera again, the lady spoke more. "As what he said, keep your eyes open for a red menace who seemed to have been responsible for this horrible crime. The menace may return again."

Broadway's jaw dropped. Could it really have been Brooklyn? He just couldn't believe it! "Elisa!" He cried, dropping the remote.

Elisa put a hand on his shoulder, having heard everything and was just as shocked. "Don't worry, I'll make sure to look into this."

The young gargoyle trembled. "N-No way my brother... could've hurt them. He doesn't want to hurt humans except the bad ones." He sniffled, hoping with dread that this was fake news.

......

On another night, Thailog had called out his puppet, Ravage for another liberation duty as he has been continuing to call them now. Ravage approached his father, eager for what he wanted to do.

Thailog stroked his neck. "Now listen up, little cherry. I wish for you to break out not just money, but weapons too if one day we go against your kidnappers. You still wish to do that, right?"

Eyes glazing over, Ravage now looked slightly eviler than he did before. "I do... Father. I just hope I don't run into them before then." He growled, tail swishing.

The bulkier gargoyle put a comforting wing around him. "I assure you, they won't. But you'll have to be more discreet, especially when you kill those humans. Your first failure got you on live tv."

It caused the red gargoyle's eyes to round, shaking now. "S-Sorry, I didn't mean to. I'm going right now to get what you want, Father." Ravage scrambled as fast as he could towards the window, Thailog watching in evil pride.

"Don't come back without the blood of humans on your hands, Ravage!" He ordered harshly.

Ravage gulped, nodding with a low not so friendly grin, then took off into the sky, eager to get his anger towards Goliath out on these pesky bags of flesh.

He found a bank, using one of the bags he took with him, breaking through the window. The humans guarding below yelled out. "Ah! The red menace!" One shrilled, pointing before he was lifted up into the air, and slashed in the chest, eyes glowing sharply then tossing the body to the floor.

The other humans scattered about, as Ravage pulled out some of the devices Thailog had given him before leaving, which allowed him to get into the vault, stuffing his bag with the money he could get out.

After killing two more humans, Ravage glided off, the alarm still ringing from his appearance, and went around to find some kind of gun shop, feeling quite satisfied with his work so far.

Soon, Ravage eyed a local gun store that normally was kept under lock and key at night too. As usual, he dove down, landing on the ground, slashing the locks open with ease. The owner of the store was in there taking care of some last-minute things when he gasped at the sight of the reddish shadowy form, backing away and holding up his gun. "Get back, beast!"

Ravage's eyes glowed further, a sneer on his beak. "You shouldn't play with that thing. I can take it off of your hands..." The owner whimpered, seeing Ravage hop dangerously onto the desk, and he quickly pulled the trigger.

The banging shot made Ravage hiss out, the bullet hitting his shoulder, making him grip it, but used his other hand not holding the money bag to break the gun into pieces, next grabbing the man's throat.

Ravage grinned snarky at the human struggling pathetically in his talons, squeezing his throat. "I am liberating all the weapons too besides money, human. You, all of your kind are robbers, killers, and indoctrinators." Ravage snarled, making the man look confused and scared, until Ravage lunged, biting the man's throat, a death cry escaping his victim, then dropping the body.

He studied the blood on his hands, smiling, though too seeing the wound in his shoulder. But it was a price to please his father, sneaking away a lot of the important and nicest looking guns inside, right as sirens wailed.

"Gotta scram, great..." Ravage huffed, shouldering his two bags with a wince, climbing to the window, then soaring off again. Elisa and Matt had been there with the other cops, both pulling out their revolvers.

Elisa carefully went inside, pointing her weapon, until the light shone on the dead body of the gun owner, making her gasp in disbelief. She checked his pulse, but there was none. Eyeing the blood on the floor, Elisa spotted some blood going to the window, rather curious but she figured that the killer must've been hurt before getting away.

.....

Thailog waited as patiently as he could like usual, staring darkly outside the window at the night, Demona with him. Demona herself had wound up developing small feelings for Thailog ever since they both bonded over the brainwashing of Brooklyn.

She gazed his body up and down, noting how he was much stronger and thicker skinned than Goliath was. Sevarius for sure made the better version. Soon, the two spotted their little red slave gliding back, carrying two big bags with him, but Demona spotted some blood leaking down from his shoulder, knowing Ravage had some explaining to do.

Ravage landed not quite so gracefully, tossing the two bags down, panting and holding his shoulder, looking up and waiting for his father's approval. Thailog grinned, taking Brooklyn's left hand, smelling the human blood on it. "Hmmm, very nice, little cherry. You took care of humans well I presume?"

The beaked gargoyle smiled viciously, nodding. "For sure, Father... ugh! Those humans... never stood a chance against me." He gripped his wounded shoulder tightly.

Demona came over, taking his hand away, seeing the blood. "You're hurt, my young one." She said, trying to sound gentle.

Ravage yanked away. "It's... nothin'."

Thailog gave a small coo to Ravage, stroking his neck and shoulders again. "You are willing to take a bullet for me too I see." He questioned, Ravage melting into his touch and praises.

"Y-yeah. I would do anything." He croaked, mostly from the wound. Brooklyn's sense of reality and being able to live on his own was slowly melting away from Thailog's twisted power over him.

Taking his arm, Demona began leading Ravage to the medical room. "We need to take that bullet out before sunrise, Ravage." She said firmly, while Thailog inspected the loot Brooklyn snatched up, smirking. At this rate, he would be richer than Xanatos! An idea came to Thailog too. Eventually, his little tool would need some kind of mark to show the clan what side Brooklyn was really on.

Demona sat Ravage down on the medical bed, having Sevarius come over to inspect the wound. Since he was human, Ravage didn't quite trust him, but he heard Angel assure that Anton wouldn't hurt him. Sevarius noted how deep the wound was. "He needs to be asleep for this to be taken out." Sevarius declared. Ravage tensed up but Demona laid him back, stroking his hand.

"You won't die, sweet one. I promise." Demona murmured, wanting to lure Brooklyn into thinking she was a mother more. Ravage gulped but wound up allowing Sevarius to do his deed, using a needle to give him anesthesia, feeling himself passing out. "He'll wake up after his stone sleep once this is all taken care of." Sevarius informed Demona, who inclined her head lightly, turning to wait for sunrise.

Sevarius worked as hard as he could to pull out the bullet, along with making sure the excess blood was taken care of. Next sewing up the wound with stitches until the stone sleep removed them and the wound, of course. He couldn't believe how well their plan with this one had been working out, eager to do even more with him, watching the sunrise finally come after taking out the needles, the stone covering Ravage along with Thailog, Demona turning human, wondering what tomorrow night would bring for them all with Ravage's 'training.'
