Chapter 15

Elisa kept up her task of sitting by Brooklyn's stone form during the day, once in a while though getting herself food and such, even preparing a meal for Brooklyn when he woke up. Ever since the Grimorum and Demona situation, she always felt rather protective of Brooklyn now amongst all of the Trio with Broadway in second when he accidentally shot her.

Soon, she saw the sun going down, Brooklyn's eyes glowing then the skin crackling; breaking free of his slumber with his usual roar, but still not as confident as he was before getting amnesia. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Brooklyn looked about nervously until he saw the familiar human he recalled was Elisa from the night before, wrapping his arms around himself.

Elisa gave him a smile in greeting. "Good evening, Brooklyn. I hope you slept well." She said carefully as not to spook him.

Brooklyn gave a little swallow, nodding timidly. It felt weird being called Brooklyn again after Thailog called him Ravage for so long. The red gargoyle wrapped his wings around himself, small tears pricking at his eyes. "I-I had a dream about Thailog. He-he stole me again and..." He shivered when remembering those horrible hands of his all over his skin.

Elisa now had a look of comfort on her face, taking Brooklyn's beak into her hand. "Don't worry about him anymore, Brooklyn. It was only a dream, but we'll be spending a lot of time together tonight. I got a lot of nice activities for us like books and movies."

Brooklyn's ears pricked at the sound of that but then glanced to the outside. "Don't want to go out there. He-he might take me away." The younger male croaked before feeling his stomach growl. Elisa helped him up, guiding him into the kitchen.

"I got some food for you since you seem to be hungry." Elisa offered, Brooklyn looking towards the table where some eggs and toast could be seen. Elisa figured it would be the easiest food for Brooklyn to start with. He nodded cautiously, staring down at the food in dread, wondering if it would be safe to eat.

He picked up his fork after Elisa sat him down at the table, poking at it gingerly. His stomach growled, but his still damaged brain from Thailog kept being in fear of being poisoned.

Elisa took his other hand. "Trust me Brooklyn. I don't ever want to poison you. Just try a couple small bites, you'll see."

Gulping, Brooklyn eventually gave in to the offer since the food was smelling so good, taking up some of the egg and then swallowing it down, giving a little sigh from the feeling of it hitting his stomach, a tiny smile of gratitude appearing on his beak. It made Elisa wonder how long it would be before soon the memories would be back.

After eating the breakfast, Brooklyn eventually had his wings folded around him again, still ashamed of his branding now and wishing he could remember liking Elisa, glancing at her. "It feels weird to be called Brooklyn again. T-Thailog... h-he told me that the name was too feminine for me." The red gargoyle said in a small whisper, making Elisa look rather angry at that horrid clone for even making Brooklyn believe such a lie.

She stroked his shoulder gently like a mother. "Don't believe that one's lies, sweetie. Your name really is Brooklyn, I promise, and Brooklyn can be a tough name for someone as strong as you. Besides, you were the one who gave yourself the name in the first place." She said with a smile of ease on her face.

Brooklyn's ears perked from that, somewhat liking the idea of having a name like Brooklyn now anyway, but from the memory Elisa mentioned, he still couldn't recall what happened, making tears fall down his face. "I-I just want my old memories again!" He whimpered, wiping his eyes.

Elisa took him up to his feet, trying to calm him down. "Hey, easy, it'll all be figured out soon. But maybe for now we can watch a movie for a while until the doctor comes and removes your branding." She said, looking down at Thailog's devil symbol on Brooklyn's chest that she hated deeply.

It made the red gargoyle soon nod, wanting to know what a movie is like after all those clips of humans being monsters Thailog had shown him, going with Elisa to sit down on the couch this time in front of her tv. She pulled out quite a few choices of movies she had ready just in case such as: The Jungle Book, Oliver and Company, The Lion King, etc. Holding up a few of the movies to Brooklyn, the two eventually decided on the Jungle Book, hence it being Elisa's childhood movie.

The detective put the VHS into the player, even giving Brooklyn a pillow to hold onto for comfort in case of the scary moments that happen. Brooklyn shivered lightly from the opening music but soon settled down at the sight of the tiny human Mowgli and the wolf pups that made him smile slightly on his beak. The movie really was an amazing visual to him since it was animated.

But then, mid-way through the earlier parts, Elisa got a bit worried when it came to the Kaa scene in their first encounter, hoping Brooklyn wouldn't be too spooked from it. But she was wrong, right as Kaa's eyes began to swirl, making Brooklyn let out a little squeak of fear, thinking Thailog was hypnotizing him again, holding the pillow over his eyes, gripping it a little too hard.

It made Elisa hold his hand until the snake scene was gone, encouraging him that it was safe to look. Brooklyn did, calming down from seeing the baby elephant on screen now, never wanting to see that snake again.

However, it got even worse during the second Kaa encounter, making Brooklyn grip his pillow so much that some holes got poked into it. While Kaa was singing his song, Brooklyn even chewed his pillow out of fear before soon shielding his eyes again.

"Easy Brooklyn, it won't hurt you. It is only a movie." Elisa attempted; stroking Brooklyn's back despite it not doing any good. Eventually, she turned it off for him since the second encounter with the snake often went on too long in Elisa's opinion and even though she enjoyed the movie a lot still, the detective eventually figured Brooklyn would do better with a movie that had no snakes or scary tigers.

Soon, she found one for Winnie the Pooh, which Brooklyn took to right away, his smile back but then looked embarrassed from the sight of his messed-up pillow, looking to Elisa in an apologetic manner. "I-I'm sorry..." Brook said timidly, giving it to her as Elisa shrugged, handing him another new pillow. "It really is alright. I got that pillow from a dollar store anyway."

It made the two laugh lightly until the sound of wings were heard, making Brooklyn jump, Elisa pausing the movie and seeing Goliath with Hudson, who had come to check on Brooklyn. They were pleased to see that he was doing a little better than before. "And how is the lad doing?" Hudson questioned, smiling gently at Brooklyn, who hid behind Elisa.

She looked to Brooklyn before replying; "Fairing well enough. But sooner or later the doctor will have to come over and do some more operating on him." Elisa stated, mentioning the brand that Goliath growled lightly at. "I wish we were able to catch that slime who dared to do this," He spat, his angry voice making Brooklyn flinch, backing away when suddenly Goliath's form began twisting into Thailog's, the clone's red eyes baring right into him as if hypnotizing.

"Lad, are you alright?" Hudson murmured, trying to step forward and hold him but Brooklyn shook his head, feeling dizzy, hearing Goliath speaking as Goliath noticed too. "Easy Brooklyn, you're in no danger..." Goliath's voice said in an echoey manner until Brooklyn couldn't take it anymore, tears in his eyes as he ran for it to the guest room.

He quickly slammed the door shut, shaking all over while hearing the voices from outside. "Brooklyn, please come out, Thailog isn't here, I promise." Elisa begged, knocking on the door carefully but that didn't help as Brooklyn whimpered, hiding himself under his bed, not wanting Thailog to mind control him, still feeling the clone haunting every part of him and wishing his old memories were back.

Elisa gave a sigh, knowing that the very least they could do was give Brooklyn a little space for a bit until Sato came, hoping having the rest of the clan with Goliath not around would help snap Brooklyn out of it.
