Chapter 13
Ever since building the new laser gun, Thailog had been testing it for quite some time on objects with Demona and Ravage both watching him in awe. Especially Ravage, who never saw a gun quite like that before.
Thailog smirked when firing three more objects, knocking them down then blowing the smoke from the tip of the gun, turning back to them, Demona nodding in approval. "You have quite the gun skills, love." She said in her usual cold way, but somewhat warmer since Brooklyn was near her.
The dark clone chuckled softly, going over, petting Ravage's white hair, who smiled into it, shrugging casually. "Takes all kinds of exercise to do something like this before me and my sweet son take on Xanatos."
Ravage swished his tail in excitement. "I can't wait to do it, Father. To get back at him for nearly killing me that night, I wish to do the same thing to him!" He growled, punching his fist.
Thailog scratched under Ravage's beak mouth gently, making the red male moan in relaxation, loving these affections from his 'father'. "Patience, sweet cherry. Your time will come. But we need to make sure we're both better equipped for such a task besides a gun. I'll make you armor."
The red gargoyle's eyes brightened from those words. "Really?" He asked, liking the idea of having his own armor to match his father's, hoping it would protect him better.
Thailog nodded, a wing around Brooklyn. "You've more than earned it. Why don't you give my gun a try though. See how your skills with one are?"
Thailog handed Ravage the gun, Demona not so sure how she feels seeing her least favorite gargoyle with one, having stepped back a little while Thailog stood behind Brooklyn, holding up his arms and adjusting the gun position. "Steady aiming, we don't want to hurt anybody, do we?"
Ravage shakes his head, arms rather shaky, but he took a small breath to steady himself, looking through the aiming lens of the ray gun, seeing a target not hit yet, firing but missing it, making him hiss in frustration.
Thailog chuckled softly. "It is always hard for young first timers. But you'll get it, I know you will." Ravage tried twice but missed again, so did on the third shot.
The dark clone chuckles when Ravage lets loose a snarl of frustration. "I'll never do it!" He snapped, throwing the gun to the ground. It made Thailog pick it up, handing it back to Ravage. "Just take a few breaths, then aim." He said as calm as possible, Ravage trembling then aiming again, taking a shaky breath.
To his surprise, the laser actually hit the bullseye, pretty much destroying it completely. A little smile appeared on his beak, feeling rather proud of himself.
Thailog put a hand around Ravage's shoulders. "Well done, my cherry. But I hope you will never have to use it when we invade Xanatos' castle. Only I'm going to use it when we get there. Hope you are ready for this challenge..."
Ravage's body melted at Thailog's smooth voice and his trigger word, nodding in eagerness, ready to dish out his revenge on the billionaire for nearly stopping him from taking the diamond.
Demona lifted Ravage's beak in her hands lovingly, making Ravage smile in his ditzy way. "I will let you both deal with this one, while Sevarius and I get the place ready for your return home." She said in her smooth tone, but deep down wanting to have Brooklyn being killed by Xanatos would make Demona be all the happier.
The red gargoyle nodded eagerly, feeling Thailog pull him towards the window as the two males glided out into the night sky towards the castle.
....
Back in the clock tower, Goliath had been pacing in the library for a long while now, feeling rather angry at his so-called son Thailog for harming Brooklyn this extremely, wondering where they could even be and what they were going to do to make the young male remember his old memories.
There was a sudden thought that came to him though. Since the castle now had cameras, maybe somehow... They had captured footage of Brooklyn as his old self for when they lived there. But then... that had to involve contacting Owen and Xanatos. The lavender behemoth gave a low frustrated growl, clenching his fists, not liking this at all whatsoever. But he knew it had to be done.
Making up his mind, Goliath went up the ladder from the library back into the main clock tower room where he saw Hudson, as usual sitting in his tv chair but looking rather sullen and upset, probably over Brooklyn, along with Broadway stress cooking and Lexington petting Bronx.
He cleared his throat to make himself known, the others turning to him, Lexington's eyes looking worried. "Well, do you have a plan? I just wanna sock Thailog right in the b*lls!" Snarled the green gargoyle, punching his hand into his fist.
Broadway tensed up. "I don't think so. That guy would maul you in a few seconds."
Lexington glared. "I don't care! I just want our bro back!" He spat, some tears falling down his face when remembering seeing Thailog's shadow grabbing Brooklyn and taking off with him.
Hudson had a sympathetic look on his features when going to comfort the smaller gargoyle. "It'll be alright, lad. I'm sure Goliath has a plan, right?"
Goliath swished his tail before nodding. "Yes, but that acquires teaming up with the person we would never usually pair with: Xanatos. We need to find footage of Brooklyn in the castle when he was his old self."
The rest of the Trio both looked at one another in shock and fear, unsure if this would work but knew they had no other alternative that involved hitting his head and hurting their bro to get him back.
....
Meanwhile, Thailog and Ravage had flown to Castle Wyvern, Ravage feeling rather giddy with excitement, wanting to hurt Xanatos now. Thailog put a 'comforting' hand on his little puppet's shoulder as they snuck through a window, hoping to catch Xanatos off guard. Won't that man be surprised to see that he, Thailog was back from the dead!
Xanatos had finished work in his study and was going to return to his room for the evening when he heard noises, which were footsteps. Narrowing his eyes, he took out his gun. "Owen?" He asked, glaring. That was when he heard a voice he didn't think he would hear in a long time. "Oh, it isn't Owen, David. But someone you created..." The voice purred.
The black gargoyle made himself known, Ravage standing next to him. Xanatos' eyes widened at the sight of Thailog back, and to see Brooklyn standing willingly near him. He quickly pulled out his phone. "Owen, call Detective Maza. I found him." Xanatos said before putting the phone away, pointing his gun at Xanatos more who chuckled.
"Don't expect someone like my 'father' to save his enemy like yourself. You are all mine!" Thailog sneered, shooting the laser, making Xanatos quickly jumping out of the way, wondering if Goliath really would come.
....
Back at the clock tower, Elisa had arrived to check on Goliath but also said she had no clue where Thailog had been taking Brooklyn. That was when her phone rang, her eyes widening and seeing it was Owen, answering it.
The other gargoyles watched intently as Elisa held the phone against her ear. "Hello?" She asked in suspicion.
Owen's voice came from the other end. "Elisa, Xanatos has a lead on your red gargoyle, for he and Thailog are both here in the castle. But they're about to rip him to pieces."
Goliath gasped in shock when hearing that since Elisa had the phone on speaker too, knowing they had to get to Brooklyn. Despite his hatred towards Xanatos, he couldn't let Brooklyn kill another human in his state. "Come on, this could be our chance to let Lexington and you Elisa, hack into his cameras and get the footage." He rushed to the window after Elisa hung up, telling Goliath to be careful as she would follow in her car.
The other members of the Trio and Hudson also followed out, Lexington praying somehow the real Brooklyn was still fighting against Thailog, not looking forward to it if they had to fight again.
....
Xanatos had kept on dodging the laser while firing some of his own shots of his gun, Ravage quickly ducking when it nearly hit him, his eyes glowing in anger, feeling the need to attack him.
Thailog stopped, smirking down at his creator before soon saying something to Brooklyn. "Attack, my little cherry." He purred, stroking the red gargoyle's shoulder.
Ravage's eyes glowed whiter when his mind went numb again, feeling the hand on his shoulder, snarling in his feral manner from before when attacking the humans earlier.
David stepped back, not sure what to do now without hurting Brooklyn until he suddenly leapt into the air, roaring in his shrieking way, kicking Xanatos in the stomach and sending him flying against the wall. The gargoyle who lost all of his morals by now lashed out with his talons, scratching Xanatos on the arm next while Goliath and the rest glided as fast as possible, hoping to get there on time.
Once eventually reaching the castle ledge, Goliath instantly ordered Lex to meet with Elisa, who had also just about arrived to meet her in the computer room, seeing Owen there, his usual blank face somewhat worried now.
"Come, they're this way!" Owen said, pointing down one hall where Goliath could actually hear the screeches of his second in command, wasting no time in following with the clan beside him.
Elisa had pushed the door to the castle open, desperate to get to the camera room quickly where she wound up also meeting with Owen. "How do you propose we stop your red gargoyle from killing my boss?" Owen asked, his usual flat voice now a little bit worried. Elisa had a knowing look on her features. "The cameras. We figured if we could find old footage of his life here then Brooklyn would somehow come back to us."
Owen wasn't so sure, but eventually he agreed. "Alright, if you say so, but one of your friends will have to lead Brooklyn there." He then said, Elisa nodding while the two rushed into the computer room, finding Lex inside already trying to hack into older video footage while Goliath, Broadway, and Hudson and went to confront Thailog.
Brooklyn had wound up scratching Xanatos pretty badly, having thrown him against the wall twice and lost in his full hypnotized rage from Thailog he didn't even hear the clan arrive. Goliath had ordered Lex to get to the computer room first to meet Elisa before soon calling out to Brooklyn. "STOP!" He screamed, right before the red gargoyle was going to rip out Xanatos' throat.
Thailog heard that voice, looking up with a glare in his eyes at the sight of his 'father' then gave a little smile. "Welcome, Goliath. You've come to see your former second kill Xanatos, hmm?"
Broadway's hands clenched, his eyes glowing in anger. "Let my brother go!" He shouted, Thailog going up to Brooklyn, rubbing his hands along his shoulders. "Don't listen to them, cherry. They're your enemy." He purred.
Hudson, seeing the young lad's eyes growing blank a little, a low snarl coming out of his throat. Just seeing that made Hudson have a surge of protection for Brooklyn, not wanting to let Thailog get to him anymore. "The lad isn't your puppet. We won't let you control him any longer!"
It made the dark clone laugh, a hand under Brooklyn's beak, stroking him lovingly. "You see, I discovered him all knocked out in the city, and decided to use his amnesia for my gain. But he doesn't even know it." He purred, leaning down now towards Brooklyn. "Ravage, destroy them all."
Ravage's hunches tensed up, baring his fangs, eyes glowing while Xanatos looked around with a black eye, hoping despite himself that the clan would save the beaked male, Brooklyn rushing at Goliath, but Broadway took this chance, stepping in front of Goliath, waving his arms. "Hey, get me!" Turning his head, Brooklyn raced after Broadway, the two gargoyles running down the hallways, Broadway intentionally leading Brooklyn to the camera room.
Goliath glared down at Thailog, the two circling each other while Hudson shielded Xanatos. "So, it is down to you and me. You'll pay most dearly for this..." Goliath spat, angry at his son for having mind wiped and manipulated his Second, Thailog only grinning snarkily, the two behemoths roaring, crashing into one another and clawing viciously.
....
Elisa had managed to grab some footage of Brooklyn hanging out with his brothers, even one of him playing cards with Lexington. Lex meanwhile ran out of the room to find Broadway only to encounter his blue brother letting Brooklyn chase him. Lex waved to Broadway who quickly turned a corner, flinching when nearly getting scratched by Brooklyn and finally guiding him in there.
The detective heard them, quickly setting the cameras on loop and staying out of the way. Brooklyn ran in and halted, his eyes widening when seeing what room this was until to his surprise, Broadway managed to grab Brooklyn roughly and hold him tight so he couldn't get away.
Broadway panted heavily while trying to speak and hold a writhing Brooklyn at the same time. "Look! Just look over there! It's proof we are a family! We would never hurt you, bro! We love you!" Broadway exclaimed out of both desperation and tears.
Brooklyn hissed, but then his eyes trailed to the camera glow in his eyes died down while watching, seeing what looked like him playing with the green and blue gargoyle, fighting side by side, etc. It caused Ravage's eyes to round too, feeling his body stilling from this fact. Brooklyn though shook his head, looking up at the blue gargoyle. "I-I... m-my father... told me he... he..." He croaked, body slumping now.
Lexington trembled, not seeing that Brooklyn's memories were really returning yet, slowly approaching while asking Elisa to find the camera of where Thailog and Goliath were fighting. "We're a clan, we would never ever lie to each other, Brooklyn. And that's your true name. Always will be." He said gently, a little smile on his face.
Ravage kept trembling, suddenly seeing his father taking on the one that supposedly never kidnapped him in the first place, even hearing the audio. "I'll never let you take any of us away anymore! Brooklyn isn't your puppet!" Goliath shouted.
Thailog simply laughed, unaware of the situation happening in the camera room. "My little pet doesn't know I'm simply using his amnesia. And I intend to keep it that way, Goliath. He is mine!" The dark gargoyle spat, swatting his claws on Goliath's shoulder, making the other howl.
Hearing his own 'father' call him a pet, made Ravage feel torn inside, his belly nauseous, just staring at nothing. Did he really lose his mind? That was when Lexington hugged Brooklyn at that moment, as well as Broadway. "We got you. It's gonna be okay."
The red gargoyle felt that name Brooklyn from before ring in his head. If Goliath named him to be feminine, then... why did the name Brooklyn feel tougher and more heroic than Ravage did? He hardly felt Broadway guide him out of the camera room to meet and get away with the others, Elisa following behind.
They soon got to the hallway where they were last, seeing Goliath holding his arm, backing away, Thailog chucking sinisterly before soon spotting his little puppet. "Why, Ravage, I'm glad to see you safe and sound. Come over here now, little cherry." He purred.
Brooklyn winced, feeling the memories of his old life slowly flickering on and trying to resist the hypnotic words and voice, Broadway holding him steady. "Easy, fight it, bro. You aren't his anymore."
Thailog stepped closer, towering over Brooklyn. "I said come, Ravage." He snapped, sounding firmer.
At that moment though, Brooklyn felt something inside him snap. He glared defiantly. "No! I won't! You are the one who decided to mess with me and call me Ravage! My name is Brooklyn!" He shrieked, a small tear falling down.
Raising his brow, the dark clone folded his arms. "And why the sudden change, hmm? You were so loyal. What happened?" He said, about to pet Brooklyn on his hair but he resisted, smacking it away. "Don't touch me!" Brooklyn shrieked, taking a tight hold of Broadway's arm, legs trembling.
It made Thailog slash his tail in fury, knowing somehow the clan had turned his beautiful Ravage against him. Growling, Thailog tried grabbing Brooklyn by his arm, yanking him. "You're nothing more than my little pawn, my plaything, Ravage. You will come with me and I shall give you more hypnosis to calm you down!" He hissed, dragging Brooklyn closer, who panicked big time, reaching out to Goliath. "I-I'm not your plaything! Help!" The red male screamed further, Thailog's grip feeling vice-like.
Hudson and Broadway both took action since Goliath was injured, charging Thailog, knocking him away from Brooklyn, Hudson catching the young one gently, who was whimpering, leaning a little into the elder's hold, Broadway kicking Thailog hard against the wall.
Thailog's eyes glowed a dangerous red, but knew he was outmatched this time. He glared at Brooklyn, turning to run away, breaking a window and gliding off.
The whole clan stood there in stunned silence, finding it hard to believe they actually got Brooklyn back. But what about his memories? Did they really return?
