24- "More Than Okay."

(I love this chapter!)

Are there any characters in PJO or HOO that you want me to bring in?

Breakfast was served in our rooms as the dining hall was currently full of decorations they were using to decorate the ballroom for the Summer Ball.

The girls let me have a long bath and I stayed in there until the water started to go cold. They put me one of the palace's fluffy white robes and set to dusting the perfectly clean room.

"Oh, come on," I groaned. "Are you seriously going to clean this room?"

Hazel shrugged and just as I was about to tell them to stop and come sit with me, someone knocked on the door.

I jumped up from the bed and bolted to the bathroom, holding the robe that was already tied around my body tighter. I stuck my head out of the bathroom to watch Alicia open the door.

"Oh, Lady Piper."

A grin spread across my face as I stepped back into the bathroom and Piper walked in.

"Alicia, right?" She asked.

Alicia nodded.

"Hey, Annabeth." Piper walked over and sat on the edge of my bed. Her hair was done up in an intricate way and strands framed her face. She had light makeup on and was wearing the same robe I was.

"What's up, Piper?" I sat down next to her.

She flopped down on my bed and looked at me sideways. "I was bored. I still am. So I decided that you could be my cure for that boredom."

I crossed my arms. "How very nice of you."

She slapped me on the arm lightly. "Oh pish posh! I still haven't heard every detail about that city date with princely poo."

"Well," I sighed and flopped down next to her. "What do you want to know?"

"Tell her about the part where he told you he loves your eyes." Hazel piped up from the balcony doors.

"Oh, yeah," Justine added. "Also tell her the part when he bought you four books."

Alicia put her hand up. "Don't forget the part where he kissed you."

Piper sat upright. "She gets all the kisses doesn't she?"

I scrunched my eyebrows together. "Has he not kissed you yet?"

Pipers eyes widened and she turned her face away from me. "No, we haven't. I've been a bit- I've been a bit busy lately."

"Busy?" I raised my eyebrows moving closer to her. "And what have you been doing?"

She crossed her arms over her chest and faced me again. "Just you know- it's none of your business!"

I smirked. "I think I know what's going on here."

She visually gulped.

"You're exploring the palace!"

She sighed a breath of relief.

"With Jason!"

She jumped off the bed and landed with a painful oof on the ground.

She quickly got up and rubbed her elbow. "What? No! No, no, no. I've been doing it on my own!" She looked around at all of our faces. "Who the hell is Jason anyway?"

I bit my lip whilst I 'thought', "I've introduced you to him on multiple occasions and haven't you been dancing with him for our dance lessons?"

Piper shook her head. "No-no. That guy's name was-was Bill."

I looked over at Justine. "Is there a guard called Bill?"

Justine smirked and shook her head. "There is one called Phill but that's the closest to a Bill I know."

"Ah!" Piper pointed at Justine, "His name was Phill. Yes, yes Phill. Sorry, got a bit confused there."

"Can you describe Phill for me, Piper?" I cocked my head to the side.

"Really smooth blonde hair and he has this cute little scar on his lip," She got all dreamy eyed. "Oh, his eyes, oh his eyes are electrifying."

Hazel sat down next to me. "Oh, I know that guy. His name is Jason."

Piper was snapped out of her dreamy state, sighed and lied down on the bed. "Fine. I've been hanging out with Jason. Nothing's happened, that would be treason," I froze. "And I still like Percy. He's just been a friend, an attractive friend, helping me around the palace."

I laughed trying to cover up my nerves. "Yes, well, Jason wouldn't pull anything anyways. He and Percy have a strict bro code." Yeah, and I thought that Percy and I had a strict best friend code, called the law, and I broke it.

Piper rolled her eyes. "Tell me about it. One time last week he took me to his favourite window and we were looking at the stars. I said it was beautiful and then he asked me, 'Do you know who else is beautiful?' And I blushed cause I thought he was going to say me. And guess what he said."

"Percy."

"Percy."

"He's a common factor isn't he?"

"Yeah, he is."

Around lunchtime, Piper decided that she should get back to her room so she could get ready for the ball.

I ate whilst the girls brushed my hair. They made a simple plait at the front which they pinned back, my curls falling down my back. Simple yet pretty.

They applied makeup next, adding eyeliner to the normal mix. Once they were done I looked in the mirror.

The small black line around my eyes made the grey pop, light pink lipstick was on my lips and the bags that were under my eyes from lack of sleep were gone.

"Wonderful!"

They then took me back into the bedroom and brought out a stunning dress.

It was light grey, with transparent sleeves that went to my elbow. My chest was covered with beads and those beads went further down the dress. We decided to go with grey high heels to match.

I spun around, the dress fanning out around me, in front of the mirror.

"Where do you even get these dresses?"

"We make them," Justine responded.

I stopped short of a full circle and turned around to face them, my jaw completely dropped.

"What? You make these?"

Hazel nodded. "Yeah. We worked on that one while you were in the city. It's quite fun."

I rushed over to them and scooped them all into a big hug. "You always outdo yourselves girls. I love you."

"Aw, we love you too." They chorused back.

I stepped back and looked at myself in the mirror. "It's just, everyone else will be wearing summer colours."

Hazel grinned at me wickedly. "That's what we thought. So we decided to go grey because that's your best colour."

"But," Alicia walked out of the wardrobe holding a small box. "We did think of that. So that's why we decided on this."

She opened the box and inside was a flower crown. It consisted of purple and blue flowers, green leaves and white flowers. It was beautiful.

Justine brought over a seat for me to sit on, which I did, and they circled around me pinning the flower crown in my hair.

When I looked back into the mirror I loved the outfit even more. The flowers they used went with the grey of the dress. It really did look a crown made of flowers.

Hazel rested her chin on my shoulder. "What we really wanted to do was give you an actual crown or even a tiara but that would mean you're royalty. Not yet anyway, so we settled on the simple yet elegant flower crown."

I squeezed her hand. "I love it."

We played a couple of rounds of cards before there was another knock on the door.

I opened it this time and Sarah stood there. She was wearing a beautiful blue dress that hugged her curves. Her hair was done in a braid and she smiled brightly when she saw me.

"Ready?" She asked.

I nodded, turned around and gave one last smile at the girls who all gave me a thumbs up, and walked out with Sarah.

She had already collected around ten girls who were all waiting with Sarah. We stopped at each door and at each door, a girl came out in a beautiful dress.

Rachel was wearing an emerald green dress that had one strap going over one shoulder. It hugged her upper body then slowly puffed out and had a small train behind her. Her frizzy red hair was pinned back into a tight bun, but she didn't seem fazed by it. Thalia wore a blue dress that matched her eyes and went straight down her body. Reyna had a purple dress on with a halter top and a gold belt around her waist. Calypso was wearing a white Greek style dress. Piper was wearing a pale pink dress that went up to her neck with a small collar and had a sequin design on her sleeves and chest. She looked amazing, as did all the girls.

Then there was Drew.

She had a red dress on, which seemed to be her favourite colour. It had a sweetheart neckline making her breaths seem bigger than they actually were. It more than hugged her curves and made her legs tanner and longer. Her hair was down and she had matching red lipstick on her lips.

I sighed once I saw her, realising that it would indeed be a long night.

We arrived at the large heavy doors to the ballroom and waited patiently. We could hear music and people laughing and talking from the other side. The ball was in full swing.

"And now," A booming voice from the other side of the door got everyone's attention. "The ladies of the Selection!"

The doors swung open to the ballroom and we all stepped out.

Polite applause irrupted as we made our way down the short flight of stairs lined with red carpet. I looked out over the crowd which was full of mayors and their family's, government officials and high members of the guard. They all wore expensive looking suits or elegant dresses.

The pillars of the great room were wrapped in vines, flowers running up and down them. Pieces of fabric, all the same, cyan blue, were tied in each corner and then tied together in the middle at the top of the sparkling chandelier as a representation of the summer sky. A small orchestra was set up at the far end of the room, playing melodic music, and butlers and maids walked around the room with silver trays topped with food. White tables were set up along the walls, piles of food and glasses on drinks spread out neatly. The doors of the balcony's that lined the walls were open, letting the warm summers air in.

The applause stopped as we all made it to the ground, and in our groups of friends spread out across the room.

A butler passed Piper, Reyna, Thalia and I and we all quickly grabbed some mini quiche's to fill our grumbling stomachs.

"Holy Zeus," Thalia said with her mouth full. "This is good."

We all laughed but nodded as they were pretty good.

"Ladies and Gentlemen," Said the same booming voice that introduced us, "Please all welcome King Paul, Queen Sally, Prince Perseus, Prince Tyson and Princess Zoe."

The doors swung open and the royal family looked amazing as they always did. Paul was wearing his uniform, red jacket, black pants, crown on his head and a sword strapped to his waist. On his arm was Sally looking radiant as ever in a cream colour dress and a sparkling crown on her head.

Next to them was Tyson. He was wearing a black suit, a pale blue shirt underneath and black bow tie. He had a small crown on top of his neatly styled hair. He was holding hands with Zoe who looked absolutely adorable. She was wearing a dress the same blue as Tyson shirt. Her hair was done in pigtails and she had her favourite tiara on.

And Percy. Percy was smiling broadly, his crown resting on his wild black hair. He was wearing his uniform, the same as Paul's but with some medals that he had earned and were his fathers.

We all bowed as they slowly walked down the stairs and once getting to the bottom Paul spoke.

"I would like to thank you all for being here for our annual Summer Ball. Please help yourselves to food and drinks and don't forget to have a dance! Enjoy!" He smiled.

The music started up again, a few couples made their way out to the clear space called the dance floor and started to sway to the music. We watched as Percy made his way over with his parents to a few members of the council, shaking hands and smiling.

"Do you think he'll dance with everyone?" Reyna asked.

"Oh, gods." Thalia groaned and looked over at us. "I hope not. I hate dancing."

I rolled my eyes, "Percy's a great dancer. You'll be fine."

"You've danced with him before?"

"Piper, your forgetting I grew up with the guy. I learnt to dance with him."

"And that's why she's so good," Percy stepped in front of us. "Because I taught her." He winked.

I rolled my eyes but smiled anyway.

"So Thalia," He turned to Thalia and held out his arm. "I figured you'd want the mandatory dancing out of the way."

Thalia looped her arm through his and fanned her self. "Oh Percy, you know me so well."

He smiled at her and walked her off towards the dance floor.

"Well," Piper grabbed Reyna's hand. "I don't know about you but I want food."

Piper dragged Reyna off towards the other side of the room to get food.

I looked around awkwardly suddenly by myself. I quickly found my dad, Helen and the boys talking to someone.

I made a beeline for them, wanting to talk to my younger brothers who I hadn't seen in what felt like forever.

"Annabeth!" Bobby rushed over on his crutches and gave me a hug.

Matthew followed suit and the three of us had a cute sibling hug.

"Hello, little monkeys." I ruffled their hair. "How are ya?"

"Good good," Matthew bounced up and down. "Have you had some of the punch yet? It's really good."

I raised my eyebrows. "How much sugar have you had today?"

He shrugged. "Not much."

I nodded but the energetic movements and his eyes told me otherwise.

"Oh, hello kiddo." Dad wrapped an arm around and kissed me on the head.

"Hey, Dad." Whoever he had been talking to had gone.

"How are you?" He asked.

"Excited for tonight," I shrugged.

He nodded. "Good. Me too."

I made polite but awkward conversation with Helen until there was a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around expecting Percy wanting to dance but was greeted with Jason instead.

He was wearing a black suit and a gold tie. His hair was gelled back and he smiled at me.

"Mind if I steal her for a dance Mrs Chase?" He asked Helen.

Helen nodded and Jason took my hand pulling me onto the dance floor.

We got on the dance floor, just an area where no one was standing, and I put one hand on his shoulder, he put one on my waist and we intertwined out other hands and started to step to the beat.

"Hello, Sparky."

"Hello, Brainy."

"Why would you ask me to dance?" I asked.

We turned around and I saw Percy dancing with Riley. I quickly looked away.

"Well," He shrugged. "One, I'm bored already. Two, you looked bored. Three, I wanted to dance."

"Missing Perce?" I raised an eyebrow.

He sighed. "You have no idea. Normally right about now we would be pranking someone or not even here. But now he has to dance with all the girls, talk to important people and just be a prince." He pouted. "He's so boring."

I squeezed his shoulder. "Well once this is over you can prank someone. I'll even help."

He smiled. "We could use your brains. We always get caught or one of us gets hurt. Remember when we accidentally died half my hair green for a couple of weeks?"

I laughed and nodded. "That was hilarious. Weren't you trying to dye Leo's hair but you put it in your guard helmet instead of his?"

He shook his head. "It was Percy that put it in my helmet. I was on the lookout. Now that I think about it, he most likely did it on purpose."

I accidentally stepped on Jason's toe. "You're so slow!"

He gasped at me. "You're the one that has been learning how to dance since she could remember!"

I poked my tongue out at him. "Just keep up, Blonde Superman."

Jason and I danced to another song and then he claimed that he was pooped. He went off to the drinks table and I sat down at an empty table.

Sally quickly sat down next to me and grabbed my hand smiling. "Pretend we're having an extremely important conversation."

I immediately smiled. "Yes, that's a very good point, Your Majesty but what if they don't like that? You could always-"

Sally sighed and hugged me. "Thanks, Annabeth. Hera was walking over and I can not deal with her tonight."

I smiled at her. "I totally understand. How are you?"

She slumped back in her chair. "My feet hurt, I'm hungry and thirsty and I'm getting a headache from this stupid crown." She pointed to her crown.

"Hard job being the queen?"

She gave me a dry look. "Just you wait."

"Mummy!" Zoe called as she ran over.

She was about to jump onto Sally's lap but saw me and decided that I would be a better victim. "Bethy!"

"Hey, Zo-Zo!" I adjusted my setting position as she settled herself.

"Do you like my pretty tiara?" She asked.

"Oh, yes," I nodded. "It's my favourite one. Do you like mine?" I moved my head down so she could look at my flower crown.

"Oooh," She poked one of the flowers. "Flowers."

I nodded and tickled her on the sides. She started to giggle and squirm in my grip but I wouldn't let her go.

"How are you Annabeth?" Sally asked.

I shrugged as I held hands with Zoe. "Best I can be I guess."

Sally smiled sadly at me. She looked out past me and whispered. "Dam it."

She stood up. "Well, hopefully, we can chat again before the night is over. Paul's waving me over."

She bent down and gave both Zoe and me kiss on the head.

"What have you been doing lately, Zoe?" I spun her around so she was facing me.

"I've been colouring in." She put her hands around my neck.

"Oh yeah? What have you been colouring in?"

"Tyson got me this big piece of paper with drawings on it. I've been using the pencils you got me last Christmas to do it."

I smiled. "I'll have to stop by soon and have a look."

"And guess what?" She asked.

"What?"

"I've been staying in the lines!"

I rubbed her back. "Well done, Zo-Zo. You're probably better at colouring in than I am."

I watched as Percy walked up to Drew and asked for a dance. She said yes and they both walked out to the join others dancing holding hands.

"What's wrong, Bethy?" Zoe asked with her big eyes.

"Nothing, Zo-Zo." I smiled down at her. "Everything's good."

Zoe left soon and went dancing by herself on the dance floor. I offered to dance with her but she claimed that my beauty would take away her spotlight, so I let her go.

I sat alone for a few minutes watching as Percy asked girl after girl after girl to dance. He didn't even look for me or look at me.

"Lady Annabeth?"

I turned around to face a beautiful lady. She was wearing a white dress that went to her knees, her brown hair in a ponytail. She was holding a phone and a pencil was stuck behind her ear. She had red glasses on and smiled at me, her teeth looked like fangs.

"That's me. How can I help?"

The girls sat down in a chair next to me. "I'm from Illèa Weekly. I'm Kelli the Empousa." She held out her hand for me to shake.

I hesitated, not sure where this was going but shook it anyway.

"I was hoping that I could ask you a few questions for our next Selection article?"

I bit my lip but nodded anyways not wanting her to write about how I denied an interview.

"What were you and Percy doing out in the city alone?" She pressed record on her phone recording our voices.

Great. Straight to the Percy questions and nothing about me.

"Percy suggested the idea actually. We both thought it would be good to get out of the palace and walk around the city alone."

"What were you trying to escape here at the palace?"

I gritted my teeth and thought, you. "We weren't really escaping. We just decided it would be good for him to have a break from meetings and pressures and I wanted to spend some time with him without the other Selected in the same place."

"And how do you feel about the other Selected?"

I bit my lip trying to think of the best response. "I've made some really good friends and we've all been really supportive of each other. We've learnt a lot about each other and we laugh all the time."

She smiled a fake smile at me. "Last question. What do you think about the rumours being spread about you?"

I thought for a moment. "I know that there not true. Percy knows that there not true. I believe and have confidence in myself, and so does Percy. People can say whatever they want about me, they're entitled to their opinion but as long as I know who I am, that's all that matters."

She seemed disappointed in my answer, I was pretty sure she was hoping for me to say some nasty things, but she thanked me anyway and moved onto her next victim.

I sat again watching and eating mini foods as Percy danced with everyone else. Rachel, Piper and Calypso all got dances and I stayed at the table seeming completely invisible to my best friend.

"Please," Said the same deep voice as before. "Welcome the Royal family onto the dance floor to dance the traditional Illèan Dance."

I promptly stood up and shoved my way, politely, to the front watching as Tyson grabbed Zoe's hand and lead her to the dance floor. Paul and Sally were ready but Percy was standing there, his eyes scanning the crowd.

They landed on me and he gave me a half smile as he walked over.

"Lady Annabeth," He bowed.

I smiled brightly. "Your Highness." I curtsied.

He straightened back up and held out his hand. His crown was crooked on his head. "May I have this dance?"

"You may," I placed my hand on his and he took me to the dance floor.

The fast music of the national dance started and Percy and I got into position. We started to move in a circle with the rest of the family, Percy and I dancing together like a well-oiled machine. Years and years of practice together, and simply being best friends, let us move as one and stay to the beat.

"And why did you chose me to dance?" I was suddenly aware that everyone was looking at us. I saw the other Selected jealous looks and I watched as Kelli smirked at me.

"I heard that you're the best." He winked.

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help my smile grow even more as I forgot about the rest of the world and Percy got my full attention.

"You know, I was momentarily speechless when I saw you at the start of the ball."

I raised my eyebrows and looked into his sea-green eyes. "Oh, really? And why is that?"

"You look absolutely stunning, gorgeous and beautiful tonight, Wise Girl."

"You don't look bad yourself, Seaweed Brain." I blushed.

He spun me out, Paul spinning Sally and Tyson spinning Zoe.

"How did you go with Luke's files?" He asked as he spun me back in.

I placed my hand on his shoulder. "I didn't find anything I wanted, it just created more questions," I shrugged. "Thank you, by the way."

"About the article-"

"No," I interrupted him. "I don't want to even think about that tonight."

His eyes scanned my face looking for emotion and even as I tried to hide I knew he saw how hurt and upset I was about it. He didn't say anything though, but I knew this wouldn't be the end of it.

"I'll see you soon," He smirked as he spun me out.

I flung my hand out towards Tyson who caught it as he let go of Zoe, and he pulled me in. He placed a hand on my waist and I placed a hand on his shoulder. Paul started to dance with Zoe and Sally and Percy were smiling at each other.

"Hey, Big Guy." I smiled down at him.

"Glad to see you're dancing with us again."

I nodded. "I am too. I thought he would choose someone else but," I smirked. "I am the most suitable for the job."

Tyson nodded. "Indeed. You're better than me."

I wiggled my eyebrows at him. "You bet I am."

Tyson spun me out and I saw Drew's face in front of mine, I smirked at her as Tyson pulled me back in and we started to step to the beat again in perfect timing with the rest of the family.

"How's Ella? That's her name, right?"

He grinned broadly at me. "Ella's great. We've been sending letters to each other. I wanted her to come tonight but mum said it would freak her out a bit."

I shrugged. "Yes, well, I am freaked out by the number of people staring at me so I understand that."

"It's because you look great tonight."

I gasped. "You Jackson boys and your flirting!"

"We speak the truth." Tyson spun me out again and he caught his mother's hand and Paul grabbed my hand.

Paul smiled at me as we got back into the dance. "I'm sorry about all the things being said about you."

"It was going to come sooner or later," I shrugged.

I heard Zoe giggle so I looked over Paul's shoulder. Zoe was standing on Percy's feet as he dance and he was tightly gripping her hands so she wouldn't fall. I smiled loving the expression that came over Percy's face. It was absolute adoration.

"It already feels like your officially part of the family."

I raised my eyebrows in shock. "How so?"

"Well, you are dancing with the family in a very important dance." Paul smiled. "I can just imagine you and Percy married dancing as king and queen with old Sally and me, Tyson and his wife and Zoe and her boyfriend."

Paul spun me out, which I was thankful for. Happy tears had started to form in my eyes threatening to spill out. I closed my eyes imagining that perfect picture.

"Thanks, Paul," I said as I came back to him.

He smiled back. "How have you been going with your father?"

I looked up at the ceiling avoiding eye contact. "You think after nearly dying he would want to spend more time with his precious daughter."

Paul and I had an odd relationship. He came into the family late and even though I wasn't a Jackson, I was treated like one by almost everyone who knew me. He soon learned that if he wanted Sally he would get three kids, Percy, Tyson and I. He then discovered that I had a rocky relationship with my dad so it became his mission to try and get dad to change his ways.

Paul scrunched up his face. "I did drop hints that you two should plan a battle or something together, seeing as that's something you both enjoy, but I guess he didn't take my advice."

"And that's why you're more of a father than he is." I gave him a sad smile.

Quickly before he spun me back to Percy he gave me a kiss on the forehead. Percy smoothly took my hand and pulled me into him for the last leg of the dance.

"Can't get enough of me can you?" He smirked.

I rolled my eyes, "Oh, you wish, Seaweed Brain."

His smile at me lit up his face making his eyes shine brightly.

The last part of the song started up and for the big finished, the boys dipped the girls.

Applause irrupted as Percy gently brought me back up.

I was so close to him I could give you detail how the colour changes in his eyes as they get closer to his pupil, I could feel his breath fanning my face and I could practically taste his soft lips on mine.

Percy sighed and took a step back bowing, "Lady Wise Girl."

I smiled sadly at the opportunity lost and curtsied. "Prince Seaweed Brain."

We stood back up and he gave me a crooked smile.

I sighed and took a step closer fixing his crown on his head that was about to fall off. "Honestly Percy, don't you take classes on how-"

I was interrupted by Percy suddenly pulling me in. He wrapped one arm around my shoulders and the other rested on my lower back. He forced my head into his chest and immediately crouched down.

"What the hade-" But I was interrupted again by the sounds of alarms bearing.

Rebels.

Percy stayed with his body protecting mine as I heard chaos unfold. Screams and shouts bounced off the walls and I could hear guards rushing for the open balcony doors and the metal shutters coming down over them.

"Honey!" Sally called.

Percy moved his head to look over and I caught sight of the rest of the family crowded together, a ring of guards around them.

Percy moved over to them guiding me over too.

"No, Percy." I tried to move his gripping hand off my shoulder. "I'm not meant to-"

"I don't care what anyone says tomorrow. You coming into that protective circle whether anyone says so or not."

The guards moved aside and Percy and I were engulfed by the family.

I looked over one guard's shoulder and watched the scene happening around me.

Guards were near the Selected, other important people and by the doors swords and guns out at the ready.

The doors had been bolted locked with metal shutters pulled down. No one was getting in or out.

I heard the shouts from outside the room, the distant sound of gunshots and the thud of bricks being hurled at the metal things protecting the doors.

Sudden panic washed over me and I looked for my family. It took a few moments for me to find them in the corner, huddled together and my dad shouting orders and guards to locate the secret door to get us out of here.

It was only twenty minutes later that the guards cleared us to leave.

I overheard a conversation one of the guards had with Paul and Sally:

"They didn't even enter the building, Your Majesty."

"What do you mean?" Sally asked.

The guard shrugged. "They didn't enter the building. They stood around the palace shooting and throwing bricks. They didn't step out of line, they were in some sort of ring around the palace. Your Majesty, any ideas?"

Paul and Sally just looked as confused as he was.

Percy was separated from me, but he gave me a quick kiss on the hand and double checked I wasn't hurt.

I rushed over to Piper, Thalia and Reyna frantically making sure they were okay. They were all shaken but physically good.

Bobby and Matthew were alright too and when I looked over at them they were already back to laughing and hitting each other.

It was quickly decided that a guard was to walk all the Selected back to their room for a safety precaution.

I was walked back to my room with Luke.

The silence was awkward as we walked down the hallway to the staircase.

"I'm sorry," Luke sped up in front of me and walked backwards. "I'm so sorry, Annie. I should not have done it-"

"No, you shouldn't have," I mumbled.

"-and I'm sorry if it's made you uncomfortable or something. You're with Percy, I get that and I got carried away. I was so happy that we were bonding and we had such a great time training together. I miss that. Can we go back to the way things were?"

I bit my lip and stared at Luke. Everything about him did radiate that he was sorry and I did kind of miss him...

"Yes," I sighed. "Okay. You're forgiven just- just don't tell anyone about it alright? Please?"

He stepped back into line with me and smiled at me. "Was it that bad?"

"No," I bumped our shoulders together. "It's illegal."

Luke laughed and slung an arm around my shoulder, and I joined in the laughter.

It seemed that things were back to normal.

The girls were extremely worried about me but after telling them I was okay they started to ask questions.

I retold the story of the night. How I was nervous and then hurt that Percy seemed that he didn't want to dance with me. I then replayed the conversation I had with him, Tyson and Paul. They gushed at how protective he was of me and I smiled a goofy smile when I realised he didn't take his hand away from my lower back until he had to walk back to his room with his sibling.

I sent them back to their bedrooms claiming that they needed sleep and I wanted to be alone.

I was about to turn off the lights and jump into a deep slumber when there was a knock at the door.

Curious, I opened the door.

Percy's lips were on mine before I could say anything. The shock wore off as I melted into the kiss, his arms snaking around my waist and mine around his neck. He pressed hard as his hands brushed my hair. I gripped the little curls of hair at the nape of his neck, twirling them around my fingers. My mind floated to that picture Paul put in my head, of us married being the couple I always wanted and ruling together. It sent shivers down my arms and goosebumps appeared on my skin.

Breathing heavily we pulled about, still wrapped around each other.

"What was that for?" I asked.

He shrugged smiling. "I didn't get to kiss you before. Is that okay?"

I pulled him down for another one. My hands cupped his cheeks, my thumb running along his cheekbone.

"More than okay."
