Quick question: Wattpad tells me that the prologue was updated 12 hours ago. Did you get any notifications? I haven't changed anything in it and it's the same from when it was first published so I don't know anymore

The girls let me sleep in, seeing as I didn't have to go to breakfast that morning

The curtains were open, warm Angeles sun shining through making the room bright to my sleepy eyes

"Good Morning sleepy bum"

"Morning Alicia" I mumbled

"Time to get up?" She asked

I nodded into my pillow but didn't move for another five minutes

"Anna-"

"I'm up! I'm up!"

I sleepily made my way to the bathroom, Alicia hot on my heels

Hazel was sitting next to the bath, one hand under the tap checking the temperature

"Good morning Annie"

I glared at her for the use of my nickname and the use of her loud voice

"You know I hate that nickname"

"Hmm, keep telling yourself that"

I rolled my eyes and she turned off the tap. I gently took off my pj's(never gets old 😂) and slipped into the warm bath

"So, what are you going to do until four?" Alicia asked

"Four?"

"Four!" Hazel squealed "Percy's taking you on a date remember!"

I smiled and slipped lower into the bath "oh yeah, four"

Alicia rolled her eyes "As if you could forget"

After getting wrapped in a fluffy white robe I stumbled my way out to my bedroom

Justine had arrived and she had a tray full of food for breakfast sitting at my desk

"Yum"

I promptly sat down and started to eat my pancakes after a quick thank you to Justine

Alicia strode over and swiftly ate one of my strawberries

"Alicia!" Both Justine and I exclaimed

"What? It's looked so red and juicy"

I glared at her retreating figure

"What dress shall she wear today" She hummed to herself as she looked at all the clothes she had made for me

"What about a grey one? Bring out her eyes!" Hazel called from the bathroom (I've had a request for a grey dress. If your not happy with this one, I have another that will come up soon)

"Yes! But elegant" Justine put in too

I couldn't see Alicia but I'm pretty sure she rolled her eyes at Justine

"What about this one?"

She walked out holding a gorgeous dress. The dress was a high low dress and It had a halter neckline. It was grey and had a sort of lacy pattern on it

"Wow" I breathed with half a pancake in my mouth

Alicia laughed and placed the dress on the bed. She went back to the closet to pick out some shoes. She returned with grey heels with a buckle around the ankle

I quickly finished my breakfast and Justine and Alicia helped me get dressed

I looked in the floor length mirror and blushed looking at my self. The dress brought out my shoulders and it was fitted around my waist. You could see my tanned legs and it made me look taller

"Percy won't be able to breathe, come on. Let's do your hair!" Alicia squealed

Hazel had finished cleaning up the bath when we entered and she stared at me

She wiggles her eyebrows suggestively to which I rolled my eyes

Hazel worked with my face, dusting on a light layer of makeup. She added some black eyeliner to bring out my eyes more

Meanwhile, Justine and Alicia worked on my hair. They ended up, after much debate, doing some sort of plait thing and then putting it up in a ponytail. Either way, it looked great.

"What's the time Justine?"

"Nearly 12"

I nodded my thanks and decided I would read outside for a little bit. I grabbed my book and headed out to my balcony, leaving the door open sending the cool breeze into the bedroom

I plopped myself done on a chair outside and breathed in the fresh air

The sun was warm on my skin and the air smelled like flowers from the garden below

After reading for an hour I started to get restless

"Hey Hazelnut?" I asked

"Yes, Annie?" She poked her head outside and smiled politely

"Could you please run up to my other room and grab my blueprint stuff. It should all be in an owl pencil case and the papers on top of my desk"

She nodded and was about to leave but I caught her wrist "Please be careful with it"

She rolled her eyes but promised to be careful with my precious stationary

I moved back inside to find my desk clear and Justine and Alicia in the middle of intense game of Go Fish

"Do you have any 8's?" Alicia asked

Justine smirked "No, go fish"

Alicia groaned and pick up a card

I watched with amusement as they continued to play until Hazel turned back up, carefully caring my things

"I didn't drop anything"

I smiled at her "Thank you" I picked up all the stuff from her arms and placed them on my desk

I decided that I would re-draw my dream house that was ripped by the Rebels in a recent attack

I figured that I could add some things and draw it out with my improved talents until Percy showed up

After many facepalms and erasing later there was a knock at the door

Alicia was about to get up and answer it but I stopped her "It's alright, I'll get it. Go back to your game"

She smiled her thanks. I opened the door and was greeted by a handsome Seaweed Brain

I smiled at him as we both got a good look at each other

He was in his usual black suit and a white collar shirt, but this time he had a black bow tie. His hair was messy jet black and his eyes shone with excitement and something else I couldn't describe

I blushed at how he looked and he scratched the back of his neck

"You look stunning Wise Girl"

"You didn't scrub up too bad yourself Seaweed Brain"

He smiled at me and held out his arm, to which I looped my through

"To the rooftop?" I asked

"To the rooftop"

We walked down the many hallways of the palace to the staircase to head up to the rooftop

"You really do look amazing Annabeth"

I tried to stay calm on the outside as I shrugged "I try" but really, butterflies were already flapping around in my stomach making my legs all wobbly and light headed

"And what do you have planned this evening Romeo?" I asked

He pouted "Let's not kill ourselves for our young love"

My heart started to beat really fast and loud in my chest. I was sure that Percy could hear it standing right next to me.

Love?

My legs became all wobbly again and my palms started to get sweaty. How was he being so cool about this? He was either not nervous, which I doubt, or he was hiding it really really well. As a best friend you should be able to tell these things about them but, even with my 17 years of training, I couldn't pick up anything

"Don't worry" I tried to keep my voice even "I don't plan on that anytime soon"

He smiled and glanced at me "Good"

We soon reached the doors to the rooftop after 2 flights of stairs. My legs were burning and my heart was beating so fast I think it completely stop

The rooftop consisted of a small open area. There was a stone barricade around the perimeter so no one would fall off and just near the door was an undercover part, in case of rain

Percy had set up a small round table, with two chairs. Another table had been set up and the food was spread out across it. Fairy lights were strung up above us and in the corner were cushions and blankets

Even though I've been up here more times then I could count, the view still took my breath away

The sun was lower than midday, and the palace gardens stretched out below. To our left, I could see the woods and to our right the city of Angeles. The rooftops of all the buildings sparkled with light of the sun and little tiny ant people walked the streets

"Do you like it?" Percy walked up behind me and placed an arm around my waist

"Of course I do Seaweed Brain" I smiled up at him "And what's for dinner?"

He scratched the back of his neck, embarrassed "Burgers?"

My eyes widened "Burgers! I haven't had a burger in months!"

Percy grabbed my hand and took me over to the table that had food spread out across it

On one plate were toasted buns and on the other plates were ingredients to make our burgers. I dived for the non-burnt-ness (< wth?) one before Percy could grab it

"Whoah, slow down there Wise Girl"

I bumped him lightly on the shoulder and continued making my burger

I was almost done and was squeezing the tomato sauce (ketchup for all you other people) when it squirted out in the wrong direction, hitting Percy on the cheek

My jaw dropped and I covered my mouth with surprise. Percy slowly turned around to face, red sauce dripping from his cheek. His face was eerily calm, but I saw the twitch in his arm as he grabbed pieces of cucumber and threw them at me

I stood in shock silence as each piece of cucumber landed on my shoulders, face and head

"You've got somethi-" Percy was about to make a sarcastic comment but I stopped him by throwing a piece of bacon at him, hitting him right on the nose

"You're on Wise Girl!" He dived for the food, grabbing as much as he could before I could get there

"Not the dress! Not the dress Seaweed Brain!" I yelled

He rolled his eyes, threw a piece of lettuce at me and laughed

I glared at him to which he stopped laughing at

I smiled victoriously as I smashed a piece of Swiss cheese on his forehead

We continued laughing and throwing food at each other for another 20 minutes, him making sure not to get my dress and me making sure not to get his suit. Both of our maids would kill us if something happened to their clothes

We ended up in a very close position, my back against a wall and Percy blocking me in with his arms

He smirked at me as he wiped the sauce off of his cheek and smeared it on my forehead

It dripped down the side of my face, slowly making it's way down my cheek and rested on my top lip

Percy's eyes followed the sauce as it travelled down my face, landing on my lip. His eyes stayed locked on my lips

My breathing started to pick up as I glanced up at him, my own eyes resting on his lips too

They were just so soft and looked so kissable?

Did I want to kiss him?

Maybe. Okay yes. I did

I looked back at those adorable sea green eyes and time slowed down. I stepped up on my tippy toes, closed my eyes and smashed my lips to his

He was shocked at first but smiled into the kiss

When he kissed me back, I had the feeling my brain was melting right through my body.

His hair was soft in my hands and the feeling of his arms around me, resting on the small of my back, made me feel so protected and safe

Unfortunately, we couldn't make an air bubble around us and we had to come up for air

(^^^^ aye mate! That was bl**dy fantastic! *pats myself on the back*)

We rested our heads together and I closed my eyes again

I felt as if my whole body was floating off the ground and my nerves were tingling like crazy. I've never felt like this before and I wanted more

I opened my eyes to find Percy staring at me, a small smile playing on his red lips

"Wise Girl?" He asked

"Yeah?" I whispered

"There is nothing in this world that makes me feel the way I do when you kiss me"

I looked up into his eyes "Stop that"

"Stop what?" He asked

"Stop saying things that make me want to kiss you"

He smirked at me and leaned in again, gently placing his lips back on mine. My fingers instantly gripped his hair and I leaned back into the wall.

We pulled apart, breathing heavily. "Do you want food now?" Percy asked

I nodded weakly, feeling like I was falling back down to earth

He grabbed my hand and lead me to the table, pulling out my chair like a true gentleman for me to sit in. He walked over and looked at the mess we had made without food fight, laughed, shrugged, the tried to piece together two hamburgers

"Enjoy!" He placed the squashed burger in front of me

I grimaced at how bad it looked but took a bite anyway

It tasted pretty good

I moaned as I took my second bite, loving the taste of the bread, sauce and meat

"Like it?" Percy laughed

I nodded my head. So far it was a pretty good date. Amazing view, food fight, kiss and burgers. What more could I want?

By the time we finished our burgers the sun was about to disappear, oranges, pinks and purples exploding across the sky

I quickly wiped my mouth with a napkin and rushed over to see the first star of the night dance across the sky

I heard Percy get out of his chair and walk in the opposite direction. I turned around to see what he was doing when the fairy lights turned on blanketing us in a warm light

He smiled sheepishly as he walked over and held out his hand "Will you dance with my Wise Girl?"

I raised my eyebrows "No music?"

"No music"

I took his hand and he guided me to a clean spot, without food, of the rooftop

He placed both of his hands on my waist and I hooked mine around his neck. We swayed to the sound of the breeze and the song of our matching heartbeats

I stared into those breathtaking eyes, the light of the fairy lights shining in them

"Thank you"

"For?" He asked

I rested my head on his chest "Tonight"

"It's not over" He whispered as he rested his chin on the top of my head

"And what else do you have planned Seaweed Brain?"

"Some stargazing"

My heart swelled at the thought of him planning tonight so much. He must have been thinking about this for a couple of days, making it perfect

And it was

We swayed to the silent music around us for a little while longer. Percy then took my hand and brought me over to the pile of pillows and blankets in the corner

"Help me make a makeshift bed will you?"

I nodded and grabbed some pillows and blankets, spreading them out to make a comfortable and warm bed on the floor

I laid down and rested my head on a pillow as Percy walked over and turned off the fairy lights. He slid down next to me, wrapped an arm around my neck to my shoulders. I placed a hand on his chest and rested my head on his shoulder

"You see there?" I asked pointing to a constellation in the sky "That's the constellation of Pisces"

I felt Percy nod "And isn't that one Leo?" He pointed to another constellation

I smiled "Yeah. And that one" I pointed too another "is the-"

"Huntress" Percy breathed

I nodded. I don't know why, but the Huntress had always been our favourite constellation. Maybe because of the legend that a brave hunter by the name of Zoe Nightshade, who Zoe Jackson was named after, who was turned into a constellation after dying in battle. It just sat with us in a personal way that was hard to explain

We sat in mostly silence, every now and then pointing out different constellations and laughing when we got them mixed up

It was peaceful and beautiful at the same time

Percy abruptly poked me on the head and spun around to face me

"I need another kiss"

I smiled "Me too"

So we kissed again, on top of some pillows and blankets, surrounded by a beautiful view and food, underneath the stars

And we soon drifted off to sleep

I awoke to the feeling of strong arms wrapped around me. With my eyes closed, I wondered how I got here. All the memories from last night came back to me. I was in the middle of dreaming about Percy and I's kiss when I heard a giggle and a shhh

There was another giggle and a male's voice in a whisper "Shhhh, you'll wake them up"

What the hades? Was what first went through my head. My second thought was that someone had found us snuggling outside. Who? When? How?

Just when I was about to move I heard the click of a camera go off. Now really wondering why someone was taking a photo of us I turned around in Percy's arms, which automatically tightened on me making it harder to move, and opened my eyes

What greeted me made my face flame up like a tomato.

Above me was Queen Sally's and King Paul's face with large grins spread across. Paul had a camera up to his eye, taking a picture of us and Sally's hand was covering her mouth, trying to muffle her giggled

"Morning honey" Sally wished me

I made a serious of incoherent sounds as I tried to pry off Percy's hand that was gripping my waist

"No" He mumbled "Don't go"

Sally started to giggle again as she and Paul stepped back to the door

"Percy, we fell asleep"

"Let's go back asleep" He tightened his grip on me making me press my body up against his

"Let go of me, Seaweed Brain"

"Kiss"

I stared at him in confusion and looked over at his parents. Paul had the camera up to catch this moment and Sally was trying very hard not to giggle and faint, I guess from her chest rising and falling really fast. Maybe she was hyperventilating? (Me too Annabeth, me too)

"You'll have morning breath"

"Sleeping Beauty needs his kiss to wake him up" He mumbled against my hair

Rolling my eyes at his morning playfulness I moved my head to kiss him

The lucky Seaweed Brain did not have morning breath

The kiss was short and sweet, mainly because I probably had morning breath and that I could hear the clicks of the camera behind us

I pulled back and he opened his eyes. I'll never get used to the feeling of looking into those memorising sea green eyes

"What's the clicking sound?"

I moved my head so he could see his parents standing in the doorway

As soon as he realised that they had seen this whole show he turned bright red and moved one of his hands to scratch the back of his neck

"Mum? Paul? What are you doing?" He whined like a little kid

"Morning sweetheart. We couldn't find you this morning and last we heard you were up here with Annabeth last night. We came up to check and we found you guys all cute and snugly" Sally gushed

"What did you do?" Paul asked

"Just ate, danced and looked at the stars. We accidentally fell asleep"

Percy shrugged behind me "And some kissing"

I turned around to look him in the eye "Not helping"

"Aww, it's ok. We were just worried, that's all" Sally reassured us. Something flickered across her face when she learnt that we had kissed but it was gone so quickly I imagined it (is Sally fangirling? Me to Sally, me too)

"Can you leave?" Percy asked

Paul held up one finger "One more photo"

He held up the camera to his eye and clicked one last photo "Well send breakfast up to you"

We nodded our thanks and laid back down together. With Percy's arm around me and my head on his chest

"That was embarrassing" Percy mumbled

"I love your parents"

He scrunched up his face "And they love you back"

I smiled into his chest and bathed in his warmth "How is it that you didn't have morning breath?"

He wiggles his eyebrows "I'm multi-talented like that"

I rolled my eyes and tried not to laugh at him

This was nice. Just Percy and I, lying here in full sun and-

"Food" Percy perked up at the smell of something coming from outside the door. Moments later the door opened and in walked a maid, a tray full of breakfast food

"Morning, your highness" She curtsied and placed the tray on the roundtable from last night

Her eyes caught all the food and dried sauce left over from last nights food fight

Percy was already at the table stuffing his mouth with food "Sorry" I mumbled to the maid as she passed, embarrassed at how competitive I had gotten last night

"It's alright miss. As long as you had fun"

I smiled at her "We did"

After eating the breakfast we had been given, Percy and I made our way downstairs very slowly. Holding hands and walking in comforting silence, remembering last night and not wanting the date to end

All too soon we arrived at my door and I reached out for the doorknob but Percy stopped me

"Wait"

I turned around "Huh?"

He scratched the back of his neck "Uh, thanks. Thanks for last night"

I stepped up on my toes and hooked my arms around his neck, resting our foreheads together

"No thank you. You planned very thing to perfection"

He raised an eyebrow "And the kiss?"

I giggled, hesitated, then gave him a short sweet peck on the lips "The kisses were great"

Quickly, I opened my door and slipped back into my room

I rested my head on the door and sighed. The room was silent for a moment then absolute chaos irrupted

"Annabeth!" Alicia rushed over

"Where were you?" Hazel asked

"You didn't come back last night!" Justine fretted

"We were worried sick!" Hazel checked for any bruising on my arms

Alicia wiggles her eyebrows "Did you do the deed?"

The last yell caught me by surprise. The room quieted down for me to talk "No! Alicia, we did not do the deed. We only kissed-"

And chaos irrupted again

"What?" Hazel shrieked

"Holy Hera" Justine breathed

"Yes yes yes yes yes!" Alicia did a little happy dance

All three girls swarmed at me and practically dragged me to the bathroom where they started a bath and wiped off my make up

"Give us very little detail and don't you dare leave anything out" Hazel pointed at me

After lots of squeals and smiles, I left my room, in a new outfit, with my hair out and light make up

The dress was so sparkly that I felt like a disco ball (I wanna be a sparkly disco ball)

I decided that I could do with some socialising so I walked over to the Women's room

I was about to open the door when it was opened for me, by a very distraught looking Peyton Navarro, 6 from Hansport. She was had tears falling down her cheeks and was visually shaking

"Peyton?" I asked as she pushed me out of the way "Are you okay?"

"No!" She yelled back at me "Of course I'm not number 7!" And she stormed off in the direction of the bathrooms

My jaw slightly dropped and my eyebrows scrunched together in confusion

Why was she upset? Did someone make her cry? Who? Why did she refer to me as number 7? My caste number is 2, 5 off from 2.

The door opened again and this time Piper's head popped out. She clearly looked worried and somewhat exhausted

"Annabeth!" She whispered yelled then quickly grabbed me by the arm and jerked me into the Women's room

I was being constantly surprised today, wasn't I?

Inside the Women's room, the girls were in groups. One group was practically yelling at each other. Another was a bunch of about 4 girls that were crying and comforting each other

A small group by the window looked somewhat normal, that group included Silena, Thalia and Reyna

But what caught my eye was the group sitting on the couch

In Drew's hand was a magazine, and the remainder of the girls were crowded around her. I could hear Drew boasting from the opposite side of the room

"Annabeth!" Katie quickly dashed over to me and pulled me over to the couch, Piper hot on my heels

"What is wrong with everyone today?" I asked

Drew smirked and handed over the magazine she was holding. It was opened to a page, pictures of some of the Selection scattered across the page. Drew was there, so was Piper, Silena, Rachel and I

"What?" I looked up over at Piper

She pointed at the article "Just read it"

I gave her a questioning look but read it anyways

After the Report last night, more question have arisen about the Selection

Who has Prince Percy been on a date with? What happened on the date/s? Where did they occur? When did they happen? How?

I froze at my name. Did I really want to know what this journalist thought about me?

We all saw that look that Percy had on his face when he read out Lady Annabeth's name. Was it shock or uneasiness? Just from seeing her last name, you come to the conclusion that Annabeth Chase is the daughter of General Fredrick Chase, trusted advisor to the King and Queen themselves. It was only confirmed last night after hearing of the family's accident. Intel tells me that Prince Percy has taken Lady Annabeth out on one date, but was it smooth? We don't know. From looking at her past we've gathered that Annabeth Chase has a close relationship to Percy over the years. But is she in it for the love? Or the power? She won't jump much if she is The One, only moving up a caste, but it's said that she loves taking charge and being a leader. Is it just that or does she won't to rule this nation, even if she has to marry someone to get it? I, for one, believe that Annabeth Chase is not in the Selection for love or for Prince Percy, but for fame, money and power

Anger boiled inside me. Not in it for love? For Percy? Only for the fame, money and power!? What did this girl know about me? How can she judge me if she hasn't even had one conversation with me?

I looked up at Piper, practically feeling the steam coming from my ears

"I know it's bad just keep reading"

I glared at her and continued reading, but my anger was still bubbling just below the surface

I so badly just wanted to rip the magazine in half

I looked up at Drew and saw her smirking at me

"Something wrong Annabeth? Your secret finally out?"

I would have jumped on her and hurt her very badly if Piper didn't pull me away

"I want to stab Drew and that stupid Kelli with a celestial bronze knife-"

"Hey hey!" Piper gripped my shoulders "No stabbing anyone, please. No matter how annoying and rude they are. Promise?"

I sighed "On the River Styx"

Piper nodded "Good and another thing? Don't listen to that Kelli women. Your not power hungry, you're here because you want love, not fame, not money nor power. For Percy"

I bit my lip to stop me from crying "Thanks, Piper" I mumbled and pulled her into a hug

Moments after we pulled out of our hug Sarah burst through the doors "Is everyone here?" She did a quick head count and counted all 30

"Good, the Queen has given permission for Prince Percy to enter the Women's room to make an announcement"

Shock silence went around the room as Percy entered

He had changed his suit from this morning (and yesterday's one) to a white blazer, light blue collar shirt and navy pants. He had no ties on and he seemed all business-like, not the guy who was this morning half asleep next to me

"Evening Ladies. Could you all please gather around"

We did so, Piper and I sharing a seat near the front. Percy locked eyes with mine and a silent feeling passed between us. The feel of each other's lips

"Thank you. Now if you could all please remain calm, that would be great. I'm about to send fives girls home"

Silence. Absolute silence. The silence was filled with tension

I looked around at all the girls in the room. Each and every single one of them, even Drew, had white knuckles from gripping something too hard or were breathing fast or-

"I'm truly sorry if you feel that you shouldn't have been sent home, but I can't change the way I feel. Once you name is said if you could please go back to your room and pack your things. Your head maid will see you out of the palace" He took a deep breath then listed five names "Avery Hughes, Imogen McMiller, Mackenzie Hunter, Maria Larsen and Grace Hawkins"

It was only silence before Mackenzie stood up "Fine, I didn't even like this hellhole anyways" She pushed past Percy then slammed the door shut

Grace followed after Mackenzie, giving Percy an awkward hug then leaving. Imogen and Avery left in silent tears and Maria seemed to understand

Percy grimaced as Maria closed the door behind her

"I know it may seem that I've been eliminating rather quickly, but I need to act on my feelings. Congratulations girls, you're in the top 25!" Percy smiled

I let out a breath that I didn't even realise I was holding. Top 25? I never thought that I could make it this far

Girls broke into cheers and hugs as celebration. Percy caught my eye and nodded his head in the direction of the corner

I left Piper with Katie and walked over to Percy

"What's-"

I didn't get to finish my sentence because Percy embraced me in a bone-crushing hug

"Don't listen to that Kelli girl Wise Girl. Your not power hungry. You just a born leader and your confidence. People just see that as a threat okay? Know that I don't believe a word she says okay?"

I nodded weakly "Okay"

He pulled back and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear "And trust me on something? Avoid my mum. She's been giggling, squealing and basically fangirling all day, non-stop. Even when we were discussing depressing topics in our meetings today she was smiling too big"

I laughed "You should have seen the reaction I got from my maids when I turned up this morning in the same clothes"

Percy winked "Don't worry, I heard it"

*does a happy dance* Percabeth Percabeth Percabeth
