Derek brought Emily to his place. He put her onto the bed ever softly. Derek felt that his house was a home now. He never felt like this. He always thought that something was missing in this house since he shifted here.

Ever since the day, Emily came over to his house for dinner the first time, he was trying to figure out things. And now he had it all figured out, he wasn't letting Emily go away.

He brought a tray with some soup for her while she changed into one of his shirts and sweatpants.

She was feeling better than she was when Derek brought her here. To be honest, she couldn't live another moment there amongst that mess.

She felt strange when she was eating her dinner and Derek sat in one corner of the room as he kept looking at her without even blinking for a second, lost in thought. She was feeling as if he was trying to look into her. As if he was trying to read her mind. And she felt weird by his unbreakable stares.

"Hey Derek? " she said as she snapped her fingers to bring him out of his thoughts. 

"Yeah?" He replied as he straightened himself.

"Derek, are you okay? You seem lost." She said.

"Mmmm...yeah I'm fine. I was just thinking about something." He said with a slight smile.

"Care to tell me?" Emily asked. She was now curious to know what was going on in his head.
"Nothing that concerns you." He said sensing her peaked interest. 

"Getting curious, aren't you?" Derek said as he raised an eyebrow.

"Will you tell me, if I said yes?" Emily replied.

"No, I still won't. "He said getting up from his chair. He strode across the room to sit by her side on the bed.

"Listen to me, Emily. Listen carefully. You are not going anywhere from my house. You are staying here. We will talk about whatever happened at your house later. But first, you need to rest." He said as he lied her back on the pillows.

"Derek, where will you sleep? I don't want to rob you of your comfort." She said

"Don't worry I'm not sleeping right now. I have some work to do and when I'll sleep I'll find myself a comfortable place. Good night." He said as he switched off the light and closed the door gently as he left the room.

"Good night Derek." She whispered as she closed her eyes.
Instead of feeling uncomfortable in Derek's house, wearing his clothes and sleeping in his bed, Emily was feeling more comfortable than she ever felt at her own place.

Derek was working in the living room on his laptop when his mobile phone rang. He was watching the CCTV video footage hoping to find a glimpse of the car's license plate that he saw in front of Emily's house before the accident. He was positive that whoever was in that car was the reason for all that. He wanted to make that person pay for all the pain Emily had to go through. 

"Stevenson here," he said as he answered his phone his eyes still glued to the footage.

"Hello brother. Good evening to you too. I think you have a sister too." Alice said sarcastically.

"Alice, I'm sorry I'm busy right now. Is there anything important? If not I'll call you later." He said as he was about to hang up.

"No, wait!! Don't disconnect the call! If you disconnect my call, I'll tell mother on you." She said nearly blowing his ears off.

"Okay. Say whatever you want." He said defeatedly.

"So Mother is inviting you over to lunch tomorrow as you're free because we've checked your schedules with Rosie." She said excitedly.

"Okay, I'll be there. But someone's coming with me so tell mother to be prepared for another guest." He told her plainly.

"Ooooh, is it someone special?"She asked with excitement lacing her voice.

"Yes....a friend." He replied.

"Okay. Brother, now I'm curious to meet this friend of yours. You've never had a friend so who is this someone special who has managed to capture your heart so quickly." She said.

"Sorry... I'm hanging up. Bye." He said as he disconnected the call.

He looked at the paused video on his laptop. He could see the license plate but the number was blurred. He could get an expert to work on it. He made a few calls and then he went to check in Emily.  He had to inform her that he was taking her to meet his mother and sister.
