We drove for days until we stopped. Then, the man who had driven grabbed my crate and handed me off to a new stranger. I whined worriedly
"Shut up, Dog" the new man yelled and smacked my crate. I whimpered quietly and decided not to say another word. Suddenly, I was dropped into the ground not placed, dropped. I fought the urge to whine in surprise. The man started to open my crate. I stayed near the back, avoiding his touch.
"God Damn, Dog I thought you were big." He groped around for me more. I still avoided. The minute he took his hand out I dashed forward into the light.
"What the.." The man asked confused. I ran into the area where I had heard the other dogs. They barked and jumped on their cages the minute I passed them. I kept running.
"Get Back here Dog!" The man yelled. 'No' I thought. Never. I ran looking for an exit. Wait. I thought suddenly. 'What if there is no exit. What if I'm trapped?!' I whined. The man drew closer. I ran forward...into a corner. 'No' I thought 'I'm doomed!' The man advanced. I could do nothing. His fingers grasped my body. I whimpered. "You're so tiny and cute" The man said unexpectedly. I looked up at him.
"Awwwww! How did you end up in there? You aren't meant for the Iditarod" He picked me up in a cradle. "I'll keep you here anyway. Maybe someone just wants a companion." He set me down in a cage next to a tan husky and a brown newfoundland
"Let's see... Answers to the name of Tucker. Hmmm. Oh you're the one from the mayor aren't you. He must have gotten you confused with you're companion. You're Ace aren't you?" He reached down and pet my head.
"Welcome home for now Ace" then the man walked away.
