Getting Out (Rewritten)

Everything around me is blank and white. It's been this way for weeks.. no, months.. maybe years? I don't know anymore. I've lost track of time, I'm just sitting here alone, well.. not completely alone. I'm with my 'other half', also known as Chara. Neither of us feel amused no matter what fun games we try to do. Rock paper scissors is boring, it's impossible to play tic-tac-toe when there's nothing else around, a blank white space doesn't have much room for anything else other than simply running around. What's the point anymore? I feel so lost and dead inside. Chara of course wants to escape as well, and wants his own body, but I'm not sure if I can let him have one after what's happened in the past. I turn and look towards his ghostly figure, as he's been waving his hand in front of my face for what I assume is a while now. I honestly didn't notice until he booped my nose-hole. "What?" I said with a croaky voice. "I think there's someone watching us." Chara seemed to be telling the truth, but he always was good at mind games and with trying to distract me. If he can get my mind off of something, or if I end up falling asleep then he can be the body's host until I realize what's going on. It's not like he can really do anymore damage in this white blank void of an 'au' that we're in, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I don't completely trust him, and I doubt that I should. "Are you sure someone else is there? I don't see anyone, quit playing around Chara. It's not funny." I crossed my arms and stared at Chara, waiting for a response. He just seemed to be looking around in a sort-of 'paranoid' manner. He rarely is afraid of anything, so he's either playing more mind games again, or there's someone/something here when there shouldn't be. There's a reason why this au is so blank, after all. Everything is gone, along with everyone.

I finally sat up, deciding to play along. It wouldn't hurt to look, after all.

R i g h t ?

Wrong...

This..

weird.. creature.. with what seemed to be black 'goo' rose up out of the ground.

Had it been watching us from under the floor? And if so, how the hell?!

I was freaked out, and so was Chara. All three of us stayed silent, but I was staring right into that creature's singular cyan eye. I just noticed now that its other eye was missing. It stepped towards us, making me flinch. "You seem to have figured me out, so there's no need in hiding anymore." It spoke with a deep voice. The voice itself wasn't terrifying, but the fact that voice came out of such a.. creature.. ran shivers down my spine. "W-Who the h-h-hell are you?!" I shouted in a defensive way, backing up a bit. I was too shaky to stand up, so I was just scooting backwards while still on the floor. I knew it could sense my fear, because it smiled widely before responding. "My name is Nightmare. I've come here to 'help' you. You're lonely, correct?" I nodded in response, but was still terrified out of my own mind nonetheless. "Well, I've come here to 'help' you in exchange for your services." It stepped closer to me, leaning down to cup my chin, making me flinch backwards as I continued to stare at the thing. It chuckled in response to my reaction. "Don't think of me as a pervert. What I mean is that, if you work for me, I'll free you from this lonely void-like place. There's others, too, so you won't be completely alone. You'll get to fight alongside your 'companions'. So, is it a deal?"

The creature outstretched its hand towards me, waiting for me to shake it in agreement. I thought about it for a moment. This thing named 'Nightmare' was so frightening, yet its words fought a hard bargain. I sighed, and grabbed its hand to shake it. I just hoped I wouldn't regret it. It helped me up, pulling me with ease, and continued smiling widely. "I'll take that as a yes. Come along, now, tomorrow's going to be a big day for you, but I'll let you get settled in first for today. I'll let my most trusted serven-- er, worker show you around. His name is Killer, treat him with respect."

Nightmare dragged us through a portal into a completely new place. Was this.. a castle? It was huge! Both Chara and I were in awe as we looked around. I really hoped I could roam around to explore further, but I knew I had to do whatever Nightmare wanted us to do first. At least today would be a 'getting settled in' day, but it was still a lot to take in nonetheless. I just hoped that tomorrow wouldn't be /too/ hard. The octopus looking 'skeleton' thing snapped its fingers, and another skeleton that looked like me came into view almost immediately. Only differences were that he was wearing completely different clothes, had no eye-lights and his eye-sockets were dripping with some sort of weird.. goo. And there was a glowing red target hovering slightly in front of him at all times.

"Killer, show Cross to his room. I told you about thinking about getting a new 'visitor' yesterday, so you should know where it is." Who I assumed was 'Killer' just nodded in response and grabbed me by my arm, dragging me without a second thought up the stairs. But, instead of walking up them all, he simply teleported us up there and walked down the hall to one of the doors. Pointed towards it, and said  "This is your room. Don't be too loud or annoying in general, and do NOT wake up Nightmare without reason. He needs his beauty sleep after all, he is king." And then Killer poofed just like that. No other explanation or instruction, just  p o o f . I figured he didn't want to have much to do with me, as I was new and nobody really knew my history or anything about me yet. But, hopefully I will be able to fit in. Chara doesn't seem too sure about our new life, and neither am I. But I guess this is our life now?I walked into our room, and flopped onto the bed.

Nightmare said that it would be a long day for us tomorrow, so maybe it's better if I get some rest.. I looked in Chara's direction, giving him a pleading look to not take over. He can read my thoughts, since this is our body, so he knows that I really want our body to get rest for the big day tomorrow. He sighed, and seemed to nod in agreement. I just hoped he wasn't lying. It's important for us to get rest. Who knows what'll happen tomorrow? I let out a yawn, Chara doing the same, and we eventually both dozed off into a peaceful sleep.
