Chapter 9: Stark Tower

At 9'oclock Jane and Loki left for New York with the womans car. The Prince had been asking what some buttons on the dash did and there was now rapp music loudly playing on the radio. The scientist personally didn't like rapp that much and neither did the Asgardian. "And people actually like this?", he said in disbelief and utter repulse to which Jane nodded agreeingly. The prince pushed another button and the songs were much softer now. After a few minutes of silence they discussed what they were going to do and say to the Avengers to inform them with the death of their colleague and friend. Even if it went wrong, they were wearing all black for the occasion. The Trickster was wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, mostly for safety so he wouldn't be recognised by civilians that remembered him from the New York fiasco. The woman was wearing a black T-shirt and navy jeans. It weren't the most appropriate clothes for telling people their friend was murdered, but they didn't have much of a choice.

After an hour the illusionist had turned quite bored, "Are we there yet?", he asked over and over again. Jane laughed before explaining that they were only at about a third of the ride. Loki's mouth hung open and he wimpered: "We've been driving for an hour Lokes it's not that bad. It's still two or three more hours to go!", she chuckled. His jaw dropped. Like literrally, he had to get surgery to put it back! "That's so long! Okay sweetie, you are going to have to tell me how big this realm is if driving to one place is atleast three hours away!".

Jane blushed, 'Did he just call me sweetie? Oh my god, I have to tell Darcy later!', she thought, anxious to know what it meant. The Prince was blushing too, he had realized his mistake to late, or was it not a mistake? 'Nope, definitely a mistake!', he thought, 'Just play it cool and you'll be just fine Loki! It's too late to say sorry now! I blew it, didn't I?'

They talked a little more, mainly over work and how Loki tricked Asgard. "So, let me get this straight, everyone thought you were Odin? Like literally everyone? Well that sounds dumb! Oh and by the way remind me to check your hands later on to change the bandages.", she maintained. No answer. "Lokes?", she looked to her right. The Tricksters head was resting against the window and his green eyes were closed. His pitch black and fluffy hair rested on his shoulders and fell over his eyes. 'Wow. I never thought I would find the God of Mishief cute, but here I am staring at him like a creep and fangirling over him. He wouldn't mind if I-', she thought.

TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!!!

Jane's car almost bumped into another car, but she avoided it just before they would've crashed. Although the turn she took with her car was quite sharp and her companion shot awake. "Woah, what happened?", Loki mumbled dazingly. "Nothing, go back to sleep!", she insisted loudly. 'Eyes on the road Jane not on the hot and cute orphan god with a history of crime!'.

About half an hour later they decided to take a short break from riding to eat something. In one hour they'd be at Stark Tower talking to real life superheroes! The main reason they took a break was because a certain someone found 'Midgard' to large. They were eating their sandwiches (with chicken, mayo, tomatoes and letuce) when the scientist remembered to text Darcy.

Jane -  Hey!

Darcy -  You never text me, spill the tea!

J -  Well Loki...might've called me sweetie...

D -  OH MY GOD!! SHIP!

J -  Sure, but what does it mean?

D -  Well, I can't say anything without further information.

D -  Tell me if something similar happens again!

J -  Okay, bye! Thanks!

She put her phone down and looked at her companion who was peacefully eating his food. Why did he make her feel this way? "One hour left before we're in New York! Are you excited?", Jane asked the God. He nodded and smiled. "Oh and you told me to remind you to look at my hands?", he babled, stuffing the last piece of bread in his mouth. "Oh right!", she said, "Give me your hands!". The Trickster put his bandaged up hands into hers and she slowly untied the knot she made. Her eyes widened in disbelief at the sight of many scars, but no more blood or definite wounds. His hands were rough and cold compared to the womans soft and warm skin. "How come you heal so fast?", she asked and he chuckled. "You seem to have forgotten I'm from another realm.", she got very red in the face at the embarassing moment. How could she have forgotten?

A few moments later they got back in the car and started driving again. Loki felt more relaxed knowing there was only an hour left, but at the same time he was nervous. What if they thought he killed Thor, like Sif did? He shared his fear with the scientist who reassured him she'd convince them if they didn't.

"Tell me if you see a parking spot!", Jane said loudly. Loki, who barely understood her because of all the traffic, pointed at a free parking lot with two spaces left. The woman honked at the grandpa infront of her that was crossing the road and sped to the parking lot. One place had already been taken, but they sped infront of another car that was about to take the spot. The angry stranger rudely gestured at them, but they took no notice. The Asgardian put the hood over his head, the last thing he wanted was to be recognised.

'I always knew I'd return here, but not under these circumstances. It's weird to think I once wanted to rule this place, god was I foolish back then. I know realize how selfish I've been, but I never learned to be nice or how to love. How was I supposed to know what I was doing wrong?', he thought embarassed. They walked between loads of people, "We're almost there, the plan is to see if they're all coincidentally all at Stark Tower; which is right here, so let's hope they've gathered.", Jane yelled over the chatter of citizens and loud traffic noises. The prince didn't feel like screaming so he just nodded in response. He was getting enough of all the people around him and he was starting to become claustrophobic. The illusionsit took the scientists' hand and lead them out of the crowd. The Gods cold and scarred skind rested upon the humans soft and perfect one. It created the perfect temperature and most amazing feeling they both felt within. "Thanks.", she whispered shyly, avoiding his gaze. Right before they entered Stark tower she stopped him.

"Lokes, I want you to know that they might not believe you. They know you as a bad guy, but I know you are not. I know you made mistakes, but deep down you're not that bad! I belive you and I'll make sure they to do! Because you deserve to know justice and so does Thor. Whatever happens you might seem alone, but we're in this together! I also wanted to ask you if you could let go of my hand now?", she told him fiercly, cheekisly smiling, but also red in the face. At this point she looked like a cute confident tomato. And who doesn't like a cute confident tomato? Certainly not Loki, who quickly let go of her hand and got even redder in the face; mumbling an apology.

They opened the grant doors of Stark Tower and entered a sort off hall, similar to a lobby in a Hotel. There were multiple receptionists helping people and firmly assaulting their keyboards. There were some chairs you could sit on to wait for an available receptionist.

The two individuals didn't have to wait very long since there were not a lot of people present. "Good day to you sir! Hello, how may I help you?", the male receptionist said, looking at loki. "We'd like to see the Avengers, it's urgent!", the scientist abruptly interrupted. "Oh so you'd like to make an apointement? Let me see.", he assaulted his keyboard before looking up again, "Is Tuesday the second of next month good for you? At 4pm?", the man asked, verifying on his computer. "I don't think you understood me correctly, we need to see them now!", she insisted. "I'm afraid that won't be-", "Please, we're old friends!", Jane interrupted. The receptionist sighed. "I'm sorry ma'am, but that's what they all say.". "What's your name?", it was the first time the Ice Giant had spoken since they entered. The young adult stood nervously at his desk, but confidentally answered: "Daniel Wattson sir.". "Well, son of Watt, why don't you call them?", the Prince tried. Daniel hesitated at first, but eventually agreed and asked for a name. Jane showed him her ID and the man called the floor the Avenger were currently at.

"Hello Mr.Stark. A certain Jane Foster claims to know you and is here for you and your colleagues.Should I let her up? Of course sir, yes sir! Right away sir!", he said to the phone, "Here take this key and put it in the elevator. It'll take you to the floor they're on. Make sure to return it to me once you're done.", he gave them a key and they entered the elevator. When the put the key into the keyhole, the elevator immediately shot in motion.

Up to the 34th floor-------->

Once arrived at the 34th floor, the elevator doors doors slid open and a female voice said: "You have arrived at the 34th floor.". Infront of the elevator stood:

A man with brown hair and a goatee; Tony Stark or Iron Man. Next to him stood:

A tall and muscled man with Blonde hair and blue eyes; Steve Rogers or Captain America. One of his hands rested on:

Natasha Romanoff's shoulder also known as Black Widow. She had red hair and she was wearing her familiar black suit. She had a fierce look in her dark green eyes. She was holding the hand of the person next to her:

A short man with glasses and Brown hair. Most people knew him as The Hulk and others as Doctor Bruce Banner. Behind him stood:

A man with short brown hair and amazing reflexes: Clint Barton or Hawkeye, a name he deserved.

"Jane! Always a pleasure to see you! Who's this guys behind you? A new boyfriend perhaps? He's quite the mysterious type, but sure. Whatever you like!", Tony greeted her, letting her end the large room. The scientists face flushed red and she shook her head. Captain America gestured for them to sit down which they did. "It's a pleasure to make your acquintances. I'm pretty sure you already know who we are.", Bruce said nervously. And Jane gave him a nervous smile.

"Why'd you come all of a sudden without telling us, is something wrong?", Natasha asked curiously, but also becauseit was her job. Jane nervously shuffled on her chair. "I accompanied him.", she explained, pointing at her companion who had all eyes on him now, "He's an old friend of yours and has something to tell you.". The Prince stood up and put his hood down, revealing his familiar face and pitch-black hair. Bartons first reflex was to immediately point a bow and arrow into the visitors face. "What are YOU doing here?! YOU are not an old friend!", he snapped. Clint hated the God and with reason. The Trickster had once posessed him with an infinity stone. Loki's face was neutral and he stood up. "I know that what I did to you was not good and that I'm not an old friend, but we need to talk. All of you.", he told them. They were quite surprised so they sat down on the remaining seats. Clint didn't move a muscle. "Loki. You have five minutes to explain why you're here without it going to be a plan to rule Earth.", Natasha said. She too disliked the God for multiple reasons. "Does this have anything to do with Thor?", Steve then asked. Loki nodded, already feeling uncomfortable, but Jane took his hand and squeezed it just like she had done before when Darcy was there. The gesture was not unseen by the Avengers who were curious for what was wrong with Thor. "About a week ago my brother discovered I was pretending to be Odin to rule Asgard, so I got put in a cell-", "Cut to the point Loki.", Stark interrupted anxiously, fearing for the worst. "The point is we were attacked and my Brother was... murdered and... I couldn't save him even though he stood next to me.", a small tear left his eye, rolled down his cheek and sunk into the carpet, but it was unseen by everyone.

The group of heroes fell silent and the words Loki had just pronounced rang in their heads. "point Break is...dead? I find it hard to belive that Thor was murdered. He's a god, a prince and a superhero. It's harder than that you know to kill him and make us believe he was killed by enemies of whatever it is where you live. He might not even be dead at all, but that seems to risky for you.", Tony said, annoyed. Bruce lifted his eyes to Loki and said: "Monster", the illusionist had heard better insults, but the circumstances..."I mean you are the God of Mishief after all, you shouldn't be to bad of a liar.", Black Widow said, standing up to face him. The Ice Giant backed of angrily, clenching his fists. "I told you, they wouldn't believe me!", he hissed, walking towards the door, Jane following him closely. "Where do you think you're going?!", Banner sneered, the tips of his fingers aswell as a spot on his neck were turning Hulk green. He was trying his best not to get too angry. The Trickster kept walking towards the door not answering. And suddenly everything went black.

The next thing he knew was that he was tied to a chair and he could barely breath. The Avengers were standing infront of him, interrogating Jane. She was confidentally looking straight forward, ignoring them. "Hey leave her out of this!", Loki yelled at them to which Tony immediately turned around aswell as Jane's gaze. Stark glared angrily at the prince and stretched out his arm. He was currently in his Iron Man suit pointing his blaster at the Gods face. He then turned back to the scientist. "Jane listen, he evil! He killed his own brother and is clearly manipulating you!", Clint blurted. He had been manipulated by the Trickster once before and therefore didn't trust him one bit. Surprsingly the woman answered him:

"He's not evil nor did he kill his brother. He's the mostgentle and funniest man I've ever met. He wouldn't even be able to manipulate me because I'm naturally on his side and he's my friend. He doesn't even have his scepter! Now untie us and let us go!", she screamed angrily at the group, tears filling her hazel eyes. Natasha stepped forward, mumbling an apology before hitting her hard. "Jane!", Loki yelled, but the woman was already unconscious. Now it was teh Ice Giants turn to be questioned.

"When we tied you up, we saw deep scars on your hands. How did they get there?", Steve asked curiously. The Asgardian looked away, he couldn't bear answering all their questions, but unfortunately they forced him. "I got them trying to escape my cell, the bars of the prison cells are made of lasers. My hands are severely damaged.", he said sadly. "Is that why you're not doing any magic to escape? Or is this all just a big illusion?", Natasha asked on her turn. "I'm not doing any magic. If this were all an illusion, you wouldn't be able to touch me.", he sighed. He looked at Jane.

'I'm sorry I can't protect you. I'm a failure, but I'm doing my best and I promise I'll get us out of here one way or the other, or...atleast get you out of here!', he thought. His mind was telling him he wouldn't even make it out of the room alive, but his heart...his heart was telling him he could do it! Save Jane and convince the Avengers he was not a bad guy! He was the victim. "Next question.", the illusionist said, this time smiling his mishievious smile which kind off creeped out Banner and Barton. "Why did you come and tell us your brother was dead?", Steve asked, crossing his arms. "Well you deserve to know, you were his friends after all.", while answering those questions, he had been smiling mysteriously to cover up how nervous he was. What the heroes could not see was that Loki was trying to perform magic. And coincidentally it was also the moment the scientist woke up. Natasha had already untied her ropes and brought her to safety on a couch if a fight would occur. The very first thing Jane saw were green sparkles behind Loki's chair, she had quite a sharp eye. The prince hadn't noticed his companion was awake, but the superherogroup did and stopped questioning her friend. "How are you Jane? Confused, I bet? It's all going to be alright, don't worry.", Natasha said, rubbing her back. "Please release Loki.", she demanded. Then she looked at the God and gave him the cheekiest smile she had. It was enough to brighten his days for a week. He felt a hundred percent more onfident now and it finally worked.

He created the illusion of being untied and whilst the superheros were worrying about Jane, the Asgardians' clone untied the real Loki's hands. He then silently stood up and gestured for the woman to come, unfortunately as soon as Jane's eyes fixed on something behind the Tricksters chair, the Black Widow saw the Prince in the reflection of Jane's eyes and turned around. The scientist free herself from the group around her and before the spy could stop her, she jumped into Loki's arms and hugged him which he did back. On the exact moment the Avengers were headed towards them, there was a loud knock on the door that made them all turn around.

Can you guess who it was?

Queen Sif of Asgard and her personal guard, Nathan Venrirson couldn't have come on a worse moment. The Avengers pointed their guns at them immediately while Nathan held the door open and Lady Sif was escorted inside, followed by a small Asgardian army of about twenty man, not counting the queen and Nathan."This man is highly dangerous. Please step away from the suspect.", she said, but nobody moved. "Who are you Lady and what do you want from our prisonner?", Stark said. He was completely suited up now. "Our prisonner you mean. My name is Queen Sif and I was Thor Odinsons fiancé, he was killed by an army hired by the criminal behind you. I suggest you give him to us now, we will punish him in our realm where he will pay for the many deaths that have fallen in our realm.", she answered unpatiently. She couldn't wait to kill Loki with her own sword. "Well, your fiancé happens to be our friend and colleague; Thor? The whole army thing you claim he did to your planet, he did that to us too a year ago and I'm pretty sure there was a whole lot more damage here than on your planet.", Iron Man argued. While the two teams were arguing about who had the right to kill the 'evildoer', Loki came up with a plan.

"Stop all of you!", the God yelled and everyone turned to him gasping at what they saw. Loki was holding a knife against a crying Jane's throat. The Real Jane was hiding behind a couch. "If anyone tries to hurt me in any way, I won't hesitate to slit her throat. He held the knife harder against her neck and a thin line of blood leaped out. The audience gasped, but Sif stayed ruthless. "Then kill her if you must.", she said, showing no mercy. But Steve Rogers quickly yelled: "No! We don't trade lives here! May I remind you that you are not home ma'am, you follow our rules here!".

Only a matter of a few seconds later someone knocked on the door, was there a third person hunting down the God of Mishief?
