Ch. 3

Harry's POV:

I wore my clothes as quick as I can. Taking a deep breath. Throwing myself after on the bed, with my face between my hands.

Why was I running that night? And from whom? It seemed like I was getting away from something scary, before I ran into that Malik who's treating me like dirt, or Louis who just thinks I am taking advantage of the whole situation.

I looked into the mirror beside the door, and I was about to laugh at my look.

My shirt was oversized, my pants were wrinkly and showed my pale ankles, my hair was cut in a weird, unorganized way. It was exactly like I just got from a battle; obviously I was the loser.

Would I ever remember my previous life? My head was clouded with thick dark fog; that it would be an absolute miracle if I remembered anything at all.

I didn't want the master of this house to get angry with me, so I wiped my tears quickly and walked out of the door and downstairs.

Louis was waiting for me and he got me inside the living room where I saw who I presumed was the doctor sitting there.

I imagined him to be an old man, with thick classes over his nose. But no, he was a young brunette with warm brown eyes, and glasses. But still older than me in at least ten years.

"Hello, I'm doctor Payne." He offered me his hand and I shook it.

"Harry." I replied, smiling lightly at him and he nodded.

While Mr. Malik stood there, not showing any sign that he'd leave me alone with the doc, sitting opposite of me.

The doctor checked my temperature and my blood pressure before he started to ask me questions. I answered all of them honestly. And he wrote my answers in his note.

Then he cleared his throat, "Ok, Mr.." he stopped clearly remembering that I don't know my own surname.

"A boy without a name." Mr. Malik stated and I couldn't help my eyes from getting watery.

"It's alright, boy. Don't be scared." The doctor said to me kindly.

I felt a bit calmer at the doctor's words, and looked up at him with hopeless yet worried eyes.

"Amnesia is a very common condition. And don't worry; it's temporary, so bit by bit you'll start to see visions from your past until you remember everything." His words made me see a light at the end of my dark tunnel.

"So, you don't consider me a liar?" I whispered, looking down at my hands in my lap.

"No, why would I? As I said it's quite common."

Here when the devil spoke,

"How could he remember a single thing when he has nothing but the clothes he's wearing?"

The doctor looked at him in admonition,

"Well, you could let him stay here for a few days. And I think he won't mind helping around the house when he's feeling better." Doctor Liam said and Mr. Malik stood up fast like a snake had just bitten him.

"No way this human being will stay in here!" He cried.

"If you let this poor boy go, you'll be responsible of whatever happens to him." The doctor paused for a second, "And I promise you I'll ask around if anyone informed about a missing person. And if they were looking for a boy named Harry I'd call you immediately,"

"But until then, you do precisely what I said."

The doctor noticed Mr. Malik hesitation so he spoke again,

"What changes could this pretty boy do to your miserable home, Zayn? This house needs a human, and so does Breton, I can't count how many times I've told you this."

And I wouldn't be lying, I wish I could fly to run away from that man who was staring hard at me. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

But I was feeling a bit braver with the understanding doctor in here.

And although I hated this; feeling like a burden, hated and unwanted. In reality I had no place to go, so I decided to stay. And I waited for Mr. Malik words to decide my fate.

"It's seems like I have no choice. He can stay here, but look," he turned to me, "Don't expect any special treatments, you'll be just like any servant in this house. And you'd do what I say. I hope you can get that into your empty brain!"

...

Mr. Malik left to walk the doctor out of the house, while I stood up and start looking at my surroundings.

There were pictures of ships on the walls, a wooden boat on the table, along with a golden anchor.

"Sit down, boy." I heard Mr. Malik's voice from behind me. I hadn't heard him return.

I did as he said.

"Since we'll be living together, I have to know your name," he asked, here we go again.

"I'm sure my name is Harry!" He didn't look at me or reply. He just walked over to his desk at the corner.

He started to get some papers. His back was towards me. His board shoulders were captivating me to stare at them. His power is alluring but scary at the same time.

"The doctor thinks you were into a difficult situation, a big shock for you. And losing your memory was a reaction from your mind, it refused to believe what happened. But the doctor said everything will be back to you. You'll see picture after picture until you can see your whole past." His voice was so strict, talking like a robot.

He handed me a paper, "Why don't you keep this with you and write everything your remember?"

He put the paper and a pen in my hand, and walked back to his desk.

And although I tried so hard not to, I started crying.

"You don't believe me, why do you think I'm a liar? At least give me a chance." I gathered my courage to say.

He pushed the chair that was in front of him, and now he was in front of me, looking into my eyes with those big golden eyes of his.

"All human beings are liars. They try to hide the cruelty of their hearts under layers of fake love and tears. But in this house no one would treat you different. No one would give any attention to your charm or beauty. You'll have to work your ass off to have the privilege of staying here."

I tried to hide my unstopping tears, so I put my head down in shame. As I nodded slowly.
