Warning: Spoilers from SheRa Season 5 Episode 6
Remy pov
Patton rushed out of the house, and we rushed after him. Seeing how he had already made it a block down the road I began to run after him, but a hand wrapped around my arm, stopping me. Emile gently moved his hands into mine. "I think he needs to be alone for a bit."
"But he could be going home to those monsters!" I stomped my foot, as to show my point. It may have just made me look more childish, but I'm a freakin senior and can do what I want.
"Even then, you are running off of 50 cups of coffee and 5 minutes of sleep. If anything, you will cause more harm then good to him in his panicked state. It's like that episode of She-Ra, season 5 episode 6. When Catra gets out, but is left damaged with a Hord chip still imbedded in her neck. The chip has left permanent damage. They give her a few days to let her process and deal with all this new information before helping her. Though, her healing process was less ideal with Adora forcing her to accept help, it was what was needed. I think we should wait until Monday so he has the weekend. We need to process this new information too and after? We will help him. Just wait until Monday." He said in a gentle tone, as if he were talking to a two year old. He rubbed circles on the back of my hands as I thought over his words.
"Okay, first off, you are a really big geek. Second, I said like 50. I didn't say exactly 50, thank you very much. And lastly... I guess that makes sense. I don't like that it makes sense... but it does. I guess I'll wait until Monday." He nodded, satisfied with my answer.
"Now, how about we go inside and watch owl house to cool off, okay?" I nodded as he led me inside and turned off the lights. He gathered pillows and blankets and wrapped them around us as he reached for the remote. The show started as I felt my eyelids droop and my head fall on my boyfriend's shoulder. I felt my sunglasses being lifted from my face and a gentle kiss was pressed to my temple. Finally, with the opening music playing, I allowed myself to drift off to sleep, dreaming of beautiful things like how to kill Patton's parents in the most painful way possible.
...
I swear, if people don't start rioting that school should start later, I'm going to need to own my own starbies. Why the fricky frack, patty wack, snicky snack, dilly dack, meatball sack, coderact, popcorn pack, kitty cat, slam attack, coffee shack would they start so early?! It's like they feed off the students' pain and suffering. Like... why?!
Okay, now that that's out of the way, lunch is thankfully almost here. All I have to do is wait five minutes... are we sure they are five minutes?... That clock looks like it just slowed down. Hmm... that's it. The school is rigged. Ah yes. Okay. Now four minutes. Mhm... I swear, I can run a mile in the time in my killer stilettos. Why is it taking so freaking loooong? Come on! I believe in you! Okay! Good job! Now... three more minutes.
I looked down at my science notebook and sighed. You know, the smart people are doing homework for the three minutes left in class. Scanning the heads of my fellow prisoners, I freeze when I see a familiar boy with black hair and glasses. Is that... Logan? What's he doing in a senior science class? Didn't he have that first period? He was bent over his work, trying to finish it before the class ended. Babe, it's the last week of school. Why do the teachers even care at this point?
Looking up at the clock, I see that there is two minutes left. What the heck, I have two centuries to kill. Imma go say hi. I slid over to the space next to him and looked at his work. Dang, this kid doesn't do anything halfway. "Hey babes."
Logan glanced up, startled by my sudden appearance. He adjusted his glasses. "Salutations Remy. Do you require assistance with the homework?"
"No, just bored. I didn't realize you took this class. Don't you have science first period?" He looked at me incredulously.
"I've had this class with you all year. You just usually fall asleep during it. We have also sat next to each other with our seating chart arrangements. How have you not noticed?" I shrugged as I took a sip of my pumpkin frap. Rolling his eyes, he continued, "I do have science first period, however that class is Geo Physical Science and is quite easy for me. I only took it because Virgil and Roman shared a class with me in that period and we used to talk... well, use morse code with each other all the way through it. When Roman was awake, that is." I nodded. It makes sense. Dang this kid is smart.
"So you take two science classes?" He nodded, "Babes, I hate to break it to you, but you're a nerd." He smirked at me.
"I prefer the term, 'smarter than you'." I coughed as I inhaled my drink. Once I finished dying, I broke out into a smile.
"Touche. Your wits almost make me regret falling asleep in this class." He rolled his eyes, a playful smirk on his lips.
"Believe me, I tried everything to keep you awake. I doubt even the end of the world could wake you. If the world were to end, which is debatable." I opened my mouth to send back a sassy retort, when the bell finally rang. I reached for my bag that I had placed on the table.
"And that's my cue to leave. See ya later, Logan." I waved to him as I skipped out the door. A smile found its way onto my face as I thought about seeing my boyfriend. Yes it's only been a day since I've seen him. No, I don't care if I seem clingy. His face makes my day. Cause like... I mean, have you seen it? His face is adorable! He has a little glow to his dark cheeks and a twinkle is his warm chocolate eyes. He warms my soul more than any starbies drink ever could. If you know me, you know how much that really means.
I caught Emile standing in the hallway, just outside of the theater room and rushed over. I jumped, taking him by surprise as I hugged him. Regaining his balance, he laughed. "It's been less that a day!" He expressed, wrapping his arms around me.
"Doesn't matter." He laughed again as I finally let go of him. His face grew into a more serious tone and I tilted my head, asking a silent question.
"So are we going to talk to Patton today?" I felt all the joy that I had in the moments before retreat faster than my want to do homework as my smile faded. I nodded and reached into my pocket for his phone. Patton had left too fast for me to give it back from when I used it to call his parents. So far, he has missed a bunch of texts from his friends and two missed calls. "Where would he be?"
"He could be in one of two places. He has a normal spot, but also eats in E wing sometimes. Do you wanna divide and conquer? I'll check their spot outside and you get the hall?" A concerned expression rested on his smooth brow. I guess I do kinda sound a little bit stalkerish. But they sit in the same spots they did last year as freshman and I ate lunch with them for half the year before getting together with Emile. It's not that I didn't have any friends, but they were just better company than the others my age.
We split up and I began walking towards the door. I covered my eyes as I entered the out. Everything is too bright, I can't see! I stumble around for a bit, then decide to walk in one direction and go for it. I concluded that it was the wrong decision in the end. I came to this resolution when my head came in contact with a very large oak. Ouch. If I didn't know any better, I'd say I was drunk. I might be. Who knows at this point?
When my eyes finally adjusted to the light, I easily spotted the group. I doubt his friends know anything about this. It'll be best to get him alone. Walking over there, I realized my head still had a distant ringing in it. I don't know why it's ringing because I ran into wood... maybe it was a metal pole? No, no. It was wood. Right? Ugg! I'm too tired for this.
"You have no idea how much pain I go through on a daily basis!" Roman dramatically shouted out. Um.. probably the wrong thing to say to Patton, but okay. I walked up to their table, strutting in my heels.
"Hey babes! Can I steal Patton for a second?" I saw Patton's eyes grow wide as his body went rigid. He slowly nodded as he stood up and waved to the boys at the table. They waved back as I led him back to the theater room, where Emile and I eat lunch. Emile was already there waiting for us.
"Oh good! You found him!" Emile patted the ground next to him and Patton cautiously sat down, eyeing the two of us wearily. I grab out his phone, and hand it back to him.
"You left this at Emile's house." He nodded then took it and placed it in his own pocket.
"Um.. so... what's up?" He flashed his signature smile, but his voice sounded... different.
"Is your voice okay? You sound different." I asked, concerned.
"Oh, I just have a scratchy voice, that's all." But... his voice doesn't sound scratchy. If anything, it sounded smoother. More melodic and higher pitched. I decide to drop it when his smile twitches.
"It doesn't matter," Emile said, waving it off. "We actually want to talk to you about what happened this weekend when you came to my house." Patton's smile dropped as he pales. He appeared to be forcing himself to breath normally.
"What about it?" I shared a glance with my boyfriend.
"Patton, someone is hurting you. Beating you!" I interjected. Patton rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"I'm feeling tired, can we maybe not talk about this now? Please?"
"If we don't talk about it now, it will never be talked about! Talking about it will actually really help you in the long run. Like in She-Ra where it's hard for Catra to open up and accept help, but once she does it's so much better for both her and everyone around her." Patton narrowed his eyes, as if he was trying to make sense of what Emile had said. His mouth twitched into a frown.
"Forcing someone to talk can do more harm than good. You're sourcing it off of one silly show, when I've met people who were forced to share things and have been permanently damaged because of it. Sometimes that's the best option, but not in all cases. And this certainly isn't one of them. I'm going now, thank you for the chat." He stood up to leave. I grabbed his arm before he could go anywhere and he didn't even flinch. What's going on?
"Patton, I understand that. But in this circumstance, not telling us will cause you more damage." He turned and glared at Emile. "How are you even walking? You had a hole in your leg!" Patton glanced at his leg, then back up. Suddenly, my hand was empty as it closed. He began walking away. Emile made one last attempt, "Please! Tell us so we can help you! We don't want you to hurt anymore!"
At that Patton paused. He turned back and barely whispered out, "It's not my secret to share..."
I took a step forward, "What do you mean? It's about you! You're the one getting hurt!" A eerie smile grew on his lips.
"I'm not Patton."
...
Where did he go?
