☂️ I DIDN'T HAVE IT IN MYSELF TO GO WITH GRACE

I think that the most tragic events in life are the ones that make the darkest people shine the most.

Take Patricia Hoyt-Elwood, for instance.

Patricia was your typically untypical sixteen-year-old who had been able to carefully craft a persona that allowed her to be by herself (essentially meaning that people were too scared of her to be around her). She didn't mind having the reputation of being the outcasted Southside Serpent with a drunk of a mother and a father who had left her years ago. She didn't mind being seen as the artistic loner, who was vaguely seen with one of the most popular kids in Riverdale High. She didn't mind being known as the girl who was abandoned by her friends after they discovered her gang affiliations. Having these assumptions float in the air allowed her to keep her nose in her sketchbook, and granted her the luxury of not having to worry about friendships.

But, past the nonchalant, viscous exterior, Tricia was a girl who was alone. Shattered by her past, and soon-to-be broken by her future, she was someone who genuinely was alone. Tricia had left the Serpents after warnings from her red-haired friend, Jason Blossom. And while she did have the company of Jason, it was slightly nonexistent, due to the social pyramid of high school. Tricia was tired of being alone, tired of her mother, tired of life.

There was an old saying about how mining for diamonds took time and pressure. There was a saying that reminds us that the worst experiences in our lives bring out the best in us. And July 4 was the turning point in Tricia's life that would allow her to truly shine through.

On July 4, Riverdale High's residential golden boy, Jason Blossom, supposedly drowned in Sweetwater River. On July 4, a mystery emerged into the small town of Riverdale. Upon hearing the news of her friend's tragic death, the last thing Patricia Hoy-Elwood wanted to do was get herself tangled in the mystery of his death.

Stubbornness is how to crack a stubborn person. This was something that Jughead Jones surely knew for a fact.

No one had known exactly why Jughead Jones enlisted the help of Patricia Hoyt-Elwood. He could have asked the charming girl-next-door, who's sister had affiliations with the drowned Blossom. Or the fiery, red-haired twin sister who would have known everything about Jason. But he asked the irritated, ex-Southside Serpent, who didn't want anything to do with her friend's death.

Among the story of death, scandal, loss, and mystery lies a story of how a broken girl was changed because she was broken again. However, the difference this time around, was that she wasn't picking up the pieces alone.

EDIT: also i forgot to add in the changes i made/am making

1. AJ Lodge's character was removed. As much as i love him, he didn't really do much to the plot and he wasn't used as well as i wanted to use him. though idk i might make a betty fic with him who knows.

2. the first three to four chapters are being completely revamped bc they were cringey asf and i hated them

3. this book is only going to cover season one of riverdale. the ending might seemed rushed. i tried to edit this fic as much as possible to make it not seemed rushed, but it was rlly hard so be aware.

4. some minor character details will be changed. idk what they were bc i forgot. but if something seems weird abt a characters personality, fear not, it's prob js a random character edit i made.

other updates:

1. i will spam update the chapters that were already up but were taken down because this was unpublished. most of the chapters they were already up, however, still need to be edited. so it will take quite a bit for the big update. however, after everything is updated and ready to go, i will try my best to have a consistent update schedule.

2. this authors note will be taken down when this book is finished bc yeah :P

SO YEAH THATS PRETTY MUCH IT!! i might update this authors note in case anything else pops up. BUT OTHER THEN THAT, WELCOME TO THE TRASH!!!
