Bingley stood with his shoulders squared, head raised high, and feet together. He glanced around the room; eyes narrowed as he did his magic trick where he checked students' attendance.

"Either the man has a photographic memory, or he's an android."

Rory giggled, "I vote for android, no human being is that stuck up."

"Or he might just have a really large stick up his ass with no way of getting it out," Roy said with a snarky chuckle.

My friends all nodded in agreement. "That would definitely explain why he walks like he's holding a hot egg between his ass cheeks." Bradley joined in.

We all started giggling, earning a stern look from one of the hall monitors. I still didn't understand why we needed them. They never did their jobs properly, and clearly had their favourite students who they let get away with breaking all the rules. Like Alpha Huntley, for one.

"As most of you are aware, there have been a few tragic murders in the news lately. In the last five months, six teenage girls from Hillside High have tragically lost their life. This has been very devastating for the families, the school and the community as a whole."

As principal Bingley spoke, the auditorium was silent. It was the first time that Bingley had managed to command the attention of the entire room. Everyone had been aware of the murders, but it never felt like part of our lives, because all of the victims were girls from Hillside High. However, what Bingley said next caused an uproar from all the students.

"We are sending our condolence and our prayers to the families involved. And after this assembly, the hall monitors will be going around to every class collecting signatures that will be added to a condolence book which will then be given to the girls' families. However, that is not the only reason I called this assembly. We have been asked by the board of education to merge the senior classes of Hillside High and Hallway High."

"No way, you can't do that!" Someone yelled.

"You are bringing the murderer here! Shouted another person.

The hall monitors tried to calm the crowd, but no one listened. Some students even got out their phoned and started calling their parents. The more dramatic one started crying, loudly proclaiming that we were all going to die. My friends and I just stared at each other. Rory cuddled up closer to Roy and Bradley's arm tightened around me. Everyone was angry and scared.

I scanned the face of the student, looking to see if I would see Alpha and what his reaction would be. Bingley was still talking, trying his best to get the students to calm down, but nothing worked. Some had even started walking out of the auditorium.

After scanning the room for a few minutes, I found Alpha. He was sitting in an empty row of seats, alone. He had drifted down in his seat. His hands were folded with his head resting on the backrest and his eyes closed.

To the untrained eyes and those who didn't know Alpha Huntley, seeing him like that would make you think that he was asleep. But I was an expert in all things Alpha, and I knew that he was not sleeping. He was fully aware of his surroundings and the commotion going on.

However, Alpha doesn't panic, or feel sad, or worry. He had only three emotions, anger, irritation, and frustration.

"This doesn't feel right, babe. I've got a bad feeling about this. I feel like darkness is hanging over one of us, but I don't know who."

I turned back to my friends. Rory had a very scared look on her face, the way she does whenever she was having one of her feelings. When I first met Rory, she told me that she had a feeling that we were going to be very good friends, but not best friends. She told me that my ora didn't connect with hers that way, it connected with Marley's.

At first, I thought she was just one of the strange free-spirited hippies, but as I got to know her, I realised that most of the time her feelings were always right. Like this one time when she came into school wearing all black because she felt like a spirit was leaving the world. I had rolled my eyes and laughed, telling her that spirits leave the world every day. However, just before lunch that day her mother called her to tell her that her older brother was in a boating accident that killed him. From that moment onwards, I never doubted her feelings.

"Oh my god, Rory, please don't say that." Marley started panicking.

We all looked at each other. The noise in the background faded, and an almost dark silence settled over us. It was like we were the only student there. We just stared. No one daring to talk, but all wondering which one of us her feelings were related to.

"You guys need to vacate the auditorium. Principle Bingley said everyone should return to their classes."

Tiffany, one of the nicer hall monitors smiled down at us. We still didn't say anything. Instead, we gathered our things and made our way out of the auditorium and back to our classes.

I looked back to see if I saw Alpha, but he was already gone. Bradley wrapped his arm around me, and I leaned into him.

"Don't worry baby, we'll all be okay." He reassured me.

I nodded, wanting to believe him, but knowing differently. Because, although I believed in Rory's feelings, I knew that the killers hunting ground had just been expanded to include Hallway High.

"I don't like this, Allen. There must be something that we can do about it?"

The school had called our parents to let them know of the changes that will be happening in the coming week. Mum wasn't too happy, but Allen was a little more accepting.

"It will be fine, Marisa, the school had assured us that all safety precautions will be taken. The authorities will be always stationed at the school. Our kids will be safe."

Allen flipped the page of the book that he was reading. He didn't even look up as he talked to my mum. It was something that he and Alpha had in common. Apart from being devastatingly handsome, both men had mastered the art of ignoring. Although Allen was a little more subtle in his approach. Whereas Alpha would make you feel like if the room had frostbites.

"I don't like this. I don't like this one bit. I will not have my daughter being the next victim of that crazed murderer."

My mother had gone into panic mode. It was usual for her whenever she was worried. She can be a little excessive, but on this occasion, I agreed with her. Being in school will no longer feel safe, not with a killer picking young girls off.

Allen closed his book with a sigh. "You are being overly dramatic Marisa. Getting yourself worked up about this will not solve anything. We have to trust that the school and the police will keep our kids safe."

He got up from the chair and walked over to my mum, pulling her into his arms. I watched from my seat on the steps that I was spying from. Allen wasn't a bad guy, and I never blamed him for my parents' marriage breaking up. That was all my mum's fault. She had a chance to end their relationship, but she didn't.

"I know, but I'm just scared. She's my only daughter. I can't lose her."

My mum rested her head on his chest, sobbing softly. Allen soothed her, telling her that it was all going to be okay. A door closing drew my attention to the direction of Alpha's room. I sighed. He still refused to acknowledge my existence, after all that we did together. I should have been happy that it was over, instead, I was confused and heartbroken.

I got up from the steps and made my way back to my room. It was already past ten pm and I still had homework to complete for my art class the next day. I contemplated leaving it, but I knew that Mr Hendrick would be disappointed in me. It was one of the pieces that he wanted me to use for my college entrance. I just had to finish it.

I got my overalls from the closet and when to get a few snacks. It was going to be a long night and I was bound to get hungry. Using the stool that was placed by the foot of the cupboard that I stored my snacks, I climbed up to make my selections. I put them out of reach because when they were where my hands could get them, I would not stop until they were all gone. I was my own worst nightmare.

When I had what I needed, I got down from the stool. I was about to close the cupboard door, but something slid out, falling on the ground. Placing my snacks on the side, I bend to pick it up. The white glitter and lace book stared up at me, mocking me. It was my wedding scrapbook. I had started it when Bradley and I had decided to get married. It was normally on my nightstand by my bed, and I would look at it every night before I slept. However, since that night of my mother's wedding, whenever I looked at it, I would feel guilty. So, I stashed it in my snack cupboard.

Tears sprung to my eyes because I knew that once Bradley found out what I did, my world will crumble in front of my eyes. I wasn't stupid to think that my sins were going to remain hidden. I was no longer a virgin, there was no way that I could hide that from Bradley, he was bound to find out sooner or later.

However, I didn't dwell on it. I tucked the book back into the cupboard and returned my focus on finishing my painting. If I threw myself into my work, maybe it would give me some form of relief. I hoped it would, but I knew that it wouldn't, and my sins would soon catch up with me.
