Chapter 45: Interesting Development

Stoick's POV

It remains silent for the next few minutes, everybody watching the boat—the one symbolising my son— sailing into the horizon until its just a small, orange speck. Doubt forms in my head.
What if he got off the island through the fog, and is finding his way back to us as we all sit here, giving up on him already?
What if he's still there? hurt? Wondering where we went? Dying?
What if...oh, who am I kidding. I almost feel like gripping my head. Berk knows he's not coming back, I know he's not coming back, so I need to let go of that false hope. He's dead. GONE! And he's never gonna come back. There is nothing I can do about it.

I'm sorry, son. It's my fault.

I'm about to tell everyone to head to the Great Hall so we can all get drunk in honour of Hiccup's memory, when...

"Well, this is certainly an interesting development since the last time I was here! Hoho, Who died this time?"

We all spin, hearing a voice. A voice I've grown to hate. "Oh, I sure hope 't was Mildew...Well, then again, the smelly old man isn't worth a funeral." He hasn't changed one bit.

"Alvin." I glare at him, swiftly grabbing my war axe from my side and walking towards him, seething. I'm going to rip him to shreds.

"Stoick." He grins maliciously, and three dozen men appear from hiding places, all kinds of weapons trained at us. He laughs that annoying laugh, and I narrow my eyes at him.
A chief protects his own.

"I'm not going down easily!" I shout and hear screams of agreement and aggression coming from my people. My people. The people that fight fire breathing reptiles on a weekly to daily basis. The people who put up with crappy land and weather until they die. The people willing to fight for what's right. For what they believe in. The people who stand by me.

"AUUGH!" I yell with my axe up high and charge forward. Everyone follows suit, the sound almost deafening, and I start fighting. Within seconds I've taken down at least five people, and I'm not sure if they're dead or not. I don't stop to check, either. If they work with Alvin, they're dead to me either way.

Everything shifts into a blur. A blur of weapons, Outcasts, and Berkains. Somewhere along the line, I lose sight of Alvin, but I try not to let it worry me. Instead focusing on the four people in currently taking on at once.

*thud* A massive blur lands in front of me, and rolls to his feet.
Ah, THERE he is.
I am now face to face with Alvin himself. I charge at him, screaming a mighty battle cry.

"HOW DARE YOU?!" I roar and we start clashing weapons, you can tell we're both putting in our all. "HOW DARE YOU COME BACK HERE?! TO MY ISLAND, THREATEN MY PEOPLE, AND EXPECT TO WIN?!" At the end, I turn and kick him in the stomach, before spinning and slamming my axe into his swinging sword, pushing him back.

After several minutes of fighting, It ends up with Alvin bellow me. It wasn't as easy as it sounds, however. He had, somehow, managed to kick away my axe, so I was weapon less and he was not. I didn't let it stop me, charging forward with a sword one of my men didn't hesitate to toss me, and it wasn't long until I had the upper hand—which brings me to the current situation. "You were vanished for a reason." I hiss at him now, about to strike down on him. But, Alvin glances behind me, and grins.

"Ya might wanna see this, Stoick!" He says with his annoying voice, and I turn to watch as half my people are being overpowered by the Outcasts. I growl, angry.
THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!
Also, just to make it worse, a young man, his name is Savage, walks forward with someone struggling fruitlessly in his arms, his axe to their throat. My gaze hardens when I realise who it is.

"Astrid." I breath out, and her parents shove there way to the front of the crowd to watch as their eldest daughter is held captive with her own axe to her neck. Everything around us stops. Everyone just freezes, and stares. Berkaims hot sure what to think. Outcasts reslosing they've almost won.

"Now, if you don't want a hair on this one's 'ead to be 'urt, you'll meet me demands!" Alvin grins evilly. "Startin' by lettin' me up!" Savage chuckles and grips Astrid harder, moving the axe closer to her neck. Reluctantly, I move back, but have the sword trained on Alvin still. I'm not going to risk an innocent life.

"Stoick..no." Astid mutters, struggling in Savage's arms, but alas I am not prepared to let one of my people die. She understand this, too, when we make eye contact. She sighs, but doesn't stop struggling.

"Now, originally, I wan'ed 'iccup, figured he'd be great leverage, but this one will do jus' fine!" Alvin admits, chuckling evilly but pauses, and looks around. "Actually, where is 'ey?"
My eyes widen the slightest bit in anger and grief, and I see Alvin glance at the boat in the distance, and put the pieces together.

"Ah. I see. Though, didn't think Stoick's little runt was worth the funeral!" He chuckles and I growl at him. He's worth more to me than you'll ever be.

Alvin nods and Savage pulls the axe closer to Astrid's neck. She does just struggle harder, even nails him in the place where the sun don't shine, but he unfortunately somehow manages to contain her. Heh. That one's gonna be an amazing warrior when she's older..she already is. That IS why I picked her as heir. Better than Snotlout, that's for sure!

"Surrender..or, ya know the rest." Alvin grins. I glare hatefully at him.
"You won't get away with this!" I warn him, but he shakes his head.
I seriously regret not killing him when I had the chance. His people would of retreated once they saw there so called "leader" dead.

"I quite like it 'ere at Berk. Better than Outcast Island, that's for sure!" Alvin exclaims, walking closer to me. I don't back down. "I think all of your people will make fine slaves! If not, well, I'll have somethin' to feed me Whisperin' Deaths that I've plan'ed under 'ere!" At this news, I growl angrily at him.
Nobody will be dying, but you! I should of disposed of you a long time ago.

"Don't worry, as long as they do what they're told, then they'll live..for now."
I can't say the same for you.

Thanks for reading! I know, it's short, but it's dramatic..ish, so..heh. You'll have to put up with it? Yep, I know I sucked at Alvin's accent, but that's the best I can do!

First quote for the year:

My sister and I: (*ps I'll call her Kira cause that's close enough and technically I didn't get her permission to use her real name so yeah)

'Kira' and I:
Kira: 🎶Jingle bells, Sophie smells.🎶
Me: 🎶Kira passed away.. 🎶
Also me: 🎶When she died, no one cried🎶
Kira: 🎶Celebrations all the way! 🎶
Both of us: 🎶Hey!🎶

Aka, WELCOME TO 2020🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊  *whoops*
(yeah yeah it's late don't kill me haha.)

Hopefully this year will be pretty good, aye? Who knows, maybe I'll actually be able to finish some books heh. I'd like to finish this one by maybe mid year, and possibly introduce a new fanfic or two... Maybe a texting one? And one I've been writing already haha. We'll see, I guess.

I don't know when the truth or dare one will end, though. Probably when I can't post any more chapters haha...Or when no one gives dares any more...

Although, since I'll be starting college, I may not have as much writing time cause I'll be studying etc...  I'll probably find some time..there's ALWAYS time for writing...unless I'm reading too much fanfic instead of writing my own...

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry this was long heh.
Ilikehorsesandcake out!
