Chapter 40: A New Beggining, A New Life

A/N:
HEY! SO, THIS CHAPTER IS GONNA BE A BIT OVER THE PLACE. anyway, I'll stop shouting. OR WILL I?!

Lol, I'm sorry, read on.

Toothless' POV
I open my eyes with a start, looking around myself in a panic.
Where's Hiccup?!

"Hiccup? Hiccup?! Where are you?!" I call frantically, getting worked up when I realise he's not with me since that's where I last remember him, when we fell into the fire.
Does Stoick have him? Did I not get to him in time?! Did someone take him?!
"Shh, calm down! It's alright, Toothless. He's safe. He's okay. For now.." Wildfire soothes, coming into view and dropping some fish onto the stone ground.

I take some deep breaths and I look around me to see that I'm in a cave, its definitely not small. It can fit Wildfire, RedViper, The Nightmare and I, and then on top of that, I think it could probably fit a Timberjack and a Scauldron, so it's pretty big.

I finally see an unconscious Hiccup laying on top of some leaves and half a blanket (the other half has apparently been burnt off)--it seems Wildfire, RedViper and the Nightmare made a makeshift bed. He also has another blanket onto of him. In front of me is a fire, its dying out.

I move slightly and groan quietly out of pain. My wings ache, my back aches, my head hurts, and basically everywhere hurts. But I should heal relatively quickly, as I'm a dragon and we have faster healing rates than humans. Also I'm a Night Fury, so even better. After all, the fire dint really hurt me, it was more the impact that did.

Wildfire walks over to the fire and fires at it,which reignites the fire, lighting the room up even though I see daylight seeping in from the entrance, where I also see the Nightmare guarding it.
Suddenly, realisation hits me.
"..Wait, what do you mean by 'for now' Wildfire?" I ask her, tired.
She gulps and the Nightmare comes in to join us, with RedViper crawling over from the corner.

"Toothless....." Wildfire hesitates. I give her a stern look, one she can't resist cause I'm a Night Fury and am a higher ranking in the dragon hierarchy than her. Also cause I'm just totally scary and awesome. She gulps.

"Well...he's.... He's loosing grip. His-his leg it's....we need to get him to a human nest soon. Not Berk, obviously, but somewhere..somewhere else, Toothless. Where he can be cared for!" Wildfire confesses, worried for Hiccup.

"Uh...Y..Yeah. Whatever gets him better..." I croon, worried.

WILDFIRE'S POV.
TIME SKIP- THREE DAYS.
THEY'VE BEEN IN THE CAVE FOR ROUGHLY FOUR DAYS.

Ever since he has woken up, Toothless hasn't left the unconscious Hiccup's side, not once. He cares so much about Hiccup and is growing more agitated by the hour that his buddy hasn't woken up, but who can really blame him?

Luckily RedViper managed to save Toothleas' spare prosthetic tailfin, but not much apart from the blanket Hiccups laying on, Hiccup's journal, some odd looking sticks (tools) and a pouch of coins could be saved.

Toothless' wounds are almost all healed, since he's a Night Fury his wounds heal quicker then other dragons...and his saliva has amazing healing properties.

We were so lucky to find this cave.....

*flashback*
"We need to find a cave! Or even just a tree!" I hear RedViper screech over the wind. It has started to rain and a storm is approaching us fast. Really fast. It's practically on us. We're getting desperate. We've been flying for HOURS. We could t say at the nest, so we just flew as far as we can. This REALLY isn't good....

"But it's just open water!" I exclaim in panic, looking back at RedViper with concern, who looks down at Hiccup in worry. I adjust my grip on the limp Toothless, hoping that his weight won't drag me down.

"Well, we can't just give up, guys! We have to just keep going!" I encourage desperately, heaving my wings. "We owe this much to them!"

Suddenly a deafening roar sounds, and bellow us three dark blue Thunderdrums pop out of the water. I clutch Toothless protectively and RedViper moves to the back, protecting Hiccup. The Nightmare flies to the front, growling but not on fire because... well, that wouldn't work in the current situation...

"There's no need to panic!" The Thunderdrum in the middle roars, rain pouring down harshly on our scales. I pant in exhaustion, dropping down slightly in the sky. "We were sent by his holiness!" At his words, we blink in surprise, and back down.

"We know a safe place to rest Raven and the rest of you. Follow us!" The one on the left explains. I look at RedViper and the Nightmare in shock, almost dropping Toothless in surprise.
"Raven?!" I echo.
"Seriously? How did we not see this?!" The Nightmare complains.

How...he can't be THE Raven. Or....could he? It makes more sense now! How else could he pick up Dragonese so quickly? Or figure out how to bring down the queen? Or gain our trust? Hiccup...Hiccup is Raven.
"Come on, follow us!" The one on the right roars.
"O-Okay." I answer, in shock. Toothless has GOT to hear this!

The Thunderdrums, followed by two more, flank us and more importantly Hiccup... I mean Raven... as they take us along.

The weather gets heavier and I can barely see four wing beats in front of me as I struggle to stay up in the air. Suddenly the Thunderdrums all dive down so we follow, to weakened to question it.

I squint through the storm, seeing a small island appear bellow the clouds. We fly down to it, swooping under tree tops where it's dry for a few seconds, before coming to a mountain, and making it into a dark, but thankfully dry and unoccupied, cave.

I lay Toothless down gently and not a second later do I flop down in exhaustion.
Oh EVERYTHING aches!

The Thunderdrums leave and return in under a minute. One has dry sticks, which I light and snuggle closer to the warmth. Another Thunderdrum drops leaves and a human blanket, which RedViper lays Hiccup on. I have no idea where they got the blanket from. We use the other blanket, which we managed to save, to place on top of Hiccup. Then another Thunderdrum flies in, dropping a pile of fish in front of all of us.

I inch forward and we all eat up (except for Toothless, since he's, ya know, unconscious), eager for the energy and to sooth our hungry stomachs.

The Thunderdrums all bow. "We wish you all, and Raven, the best of luck."
Then, they're gone, just like that.
Hiccup is Raven.

*Flashback ends*

So, now we've been in this cave for four days, and we always have one of us guarding the cave in case of threats, and yet we haven't seen the Thunderdrum's since. Oh, and I told Toothless about Hiccup being Raven yesterday. It was definitely an interesting moment.

*Flashback*

"Toothless. I have something to tell you!" I admit, coming over to him since I know he won't leave Hiccup's side. He lifts up his head to look at me curiously.
Alright, here goes...
"Toothless...it's about Hiccup."
"What is it?! Tell me, Wildifre!" Toothless croons urgently.
"He's...He's um..well, the thing is, we..we found out that–that he's Raven!" I finally get out.

Toothless' green eyes widen in shock and he almost falls over.
"You can't be—You can't be serious?! Hiccup, Raven?! I mean, like, this is the Raven, as in, the Prophecy, the savior! I just...i mean, it sort of makes sense..its just.. A lot to take in...How's hiccup gonna take it?!"
I let out a dragon-y laugh. "Yep. It shocked me too!" I reply, using my tail to throw a fish at Toothless. He catches it effortlessly in his mouth and eats in.

He licks his teeth in satisfaction then lies back down, eyes back on Hiccup with newfound curiosity and hope. I sit down next to him and explain how we got here, and how we heard of him being in the prophecy.

*Flashback End*

It's been very...interesting, these last few days. That I can tell you. I hope Hiccup will wake up soon, I really do. We all do, especially Toothless. Just wait till Hiccup hears about this!

Oh my gods. I just realised this book has been going since like this time last year! Whoa. That went quickly. There was a few gaps of me not being able to update, but still! Thanks for sticking with me this long :)

Has the year gone quickly for anyone else? Idk maybe it's cause I'm leaving high school.

Hiccup: What-what's gotten into you? What is all this...slobbering and panting?
Astrid: Isn't it obvious? He's in love!
Hiccup: Trust me, relationships are nothing but pain and misery.
(He directed it to Toothless, but Astrid hears it and punches Hiccup.)
Astrid: Ugh.
