Hiccup's POV.

As Toothless and I soar by the humongous, mountain like dragon, I look down onto the Red Death's back to see that it has massive wings folded in. They look like they haven't been used in years.

"That thing has wings! Whoa. I gotta admit, I didn't see that coming! I mean, why use your wings if you could have others do the work for you?" I mutter as we fly around. I direct Toothless to face her back. "Okay, then, let's see if she can use them!" I exclaim loudly, and Wildfire flings some spines right onto the wings, which wedge themselves between scales, before she swoops down and let's out a blast of hot fire, while RedViper manages to fly up long enough to launch two blasts of lava onto the wings. The other Nadder throws a blast at the wings on a pass. I smile at the chaos our friends are creating, and Toothless finishes it off with a plasma blast, for good measure.
Four shots left.

"Do you think that did it?" I ask in Dragonese.
I look back over my shoulder and watch the giant dragons reaction. "Yep, it did it alright!" I utter nervously as the dragon roars and stretches its giant wings, boulders and small rocks rolling out of the crevices, before, with a big swoop, it takes off into the air and after us.

"Well, she can fly!" I exclaim anxiously as we fly away from the dragon at top speed, feeling her gaining on us with every beat of my heart as we lead her as far away as possible. We weave in and out of sea stacks viciously, but the Red Death just smashes through them with deafening, cracking, booms, like they were harmless twigs, still gaining on us with every wing beat. It's sheer size and force, versus the fastest dragon on earth. Anxiety pulls at me. We gotta get away from her.

"Come on bud! Faster!" I urge him as we race to dodge the sea stacks flawlessly. At least we can say that we've had practice doing this, but I can't say the same for the giant dragon.
We gotta get out of this situation. Or we won't stand a chance and all of this would of been for nothing. We can do this. We can do this.

I glance up to see the dark clouds covering pretty much the whole sky. It really sets the scene of the battle. The battle that will go down in history. Who will win? A monstrously large dragon with teeth bigger than a person, or a tiny fast dragon with half a tail fin and his not-so-viking rider?

"Okay, Toothless, time to disappear!" I shout loudly, eyes on the clouds. He follows my gaze and begins the climb hastily.
We can do this. I hope.
"Come on, bud!" I urge Toothless loudly as he pumps his wings, the dragon following pretty closely as Toothless heaves us through the foggy air with a determined roar booming out of his throat.

Astrid's POV.

"Go." I breath out quietly as I watch Hiccup on the Night Fury disappear up into the dark clouds with the huge dragon following closely.
Maybe he can figure out a way to take it down.

For a few moments it's quiet. Really quiet, and I grow more nervous.
What on Midgard is going on?!

"Well, now we know what Hiccup meant them months ago about the whole 'You can't win this one!' thing." Ruffnut mutters dryly.
"Yeah, We honestly should of listened to him." Tuffnut adds.
"Oops." Ruffnut finishes with a nod. I roll my eyes.

"Why are we trusting useless to end this?!" Snotlout exlcaims, arms crossed. "He deserted us. He betrayed us. He fooled us all!" He grumbles, admittedly making a good point. "He had us believing for so long that he was actually getting decent at dragon slaying. But NO, instead, he'd gotten all cozy with a Thor-forsaken NIGHT FURY!" He yells the last words. I shake my head and look away. Yes, but Hiccup is trying to save us, and that's what counts.

Suddenly a blast sounds, gaining our attention immediately. with a flash of purple showing through the clouds.
Plasma blast...
Then a few seconds later another one comes, lighting up then clouds.
I hope that's good. It better be. Because as much as we don't particularly like it, that useless boy and the devil dragon he rides are our only hope of survival. Our only hope.

One more blast sounds before the clouds light up in an orange-y glow. I could of sworn I just heard Snotlout mutter c'mon cuz.
Seconds past. Every present eye is on the sky as we all search for them.
What's going on?

Hiccup's POV, going into the clouds.

We break off from the Red Death and she pauses, looking for us as we soar around the sky silently, hidden by the dark clouds.  
"SHOW YOURSELVES TERMITES!"
Toothless sends me a smirk and I nod. In a flash, we zoom in and blast at her, hitting between her wings. We fly back into cover before she can react.
YEAH! TAKE THAT YOU UGLY TOAD!

We circle silently. I pat Toothless' head as a signal and he zooms in, firing again at the dragon and disappearing into the cloud cover not a second later. All these shots are weakening her, one. by. one.

Two shots left.
Toothless spins and fires a blast just at the back of the queens head.
"THAT'S FOR MY MOTHER!" I hear Toothless roar at her.
I cheer, we've hit exactly where Toothless intended too every single time! He doesn't have Deadly accuracy for nothing!
Okay, one shot left.

The big dragon roars in anger, letting out a hot inferno anywhere and everywhere in a blind fury which lights up the clouds with a fiery glow.
Haha! That's why you need good eyesight!

Toothless dodges one big burst of fire, with me screaming "HERE IT COMES!!!" desperately as we try to avoid the scorching hot heat. Not a second later do we have to forge another particularly large burst of flame.

"Watch out!" I cry out.

I turn around to see that the prosthetic tail fin is on fire. My eyes widen.
Oh, Thor. That is not good. Not good at all...

"Okay, time's up! We need a new plan, bud. Let's see if this works!" I exclaim as we now can't hide from the queen. The fire marks us like a beacon. So even the queen with her bad eyesight should be able to see us.
This NEEDS to work. It has to. I don't know what to do otherwise. This is our last shot, literally.

"COME ON! IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?!" I shout at the queen, taunting her, as we fly past her face momentarily.

"YA UGLY BEAST!" Toothless teases as she fails to bite us, happy that he finally gets to get back at the beast that enslaved him and all the other dragons for too may years.

Stupid pig-headed evil dragon. It deserved to die for what it's done to Toothless and all the other poor dragons.

The queen roars loudly as she is very, very, VERY angry. "HOW DARE YOU! PUNY DRAGON!"
Yes, she took the bait! All that's left is to reel her in...

We pull down into a steep dive, the Red Death uncomfortably close behind us as the wind whips at our faces.
Focus, Hiccup. You can do this. You and Toothless are taking this thing down. Together, as one.

Toothless panics as he loose more and more control. I pat him reassuringly, trying to provide some comfort in the midst of battle.

"Stay with me, buddy! We've got this! We're good, just a little bit longer!" I exclaim nervously between checking on the tail and where we're headed on our decent.
Just a little bit longer.....
I can here a hissing sound, and so does Toothless. I narrow my eyes.
Just a little longer.

We dive quicker and quicker, aiming straight down as the hissing gets louder.
Just a little longer. Wait for it.

"Hold, Toothless..." I murmur and Toothless starts to build up a plasma blast in his throat, waiting for the perfect moment.

"Not so fireproof on the inside, are you?!" Echo's in my mind. A distant memory. Yet, it means so much now. I wait until the hissing sound is really loud, before I desperately shout "NOW!" We spin over as one and Toothless fires his biggest blast right into the Red Death's open mouth.

We watch as her eyes widen as she is lit on fire on the inside because of the highly flammable gas. She chokes on the flame. I grin.

"LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!" Toothless roars loudly as we appear down from the clouds —and it's only now that she see's the ground coming—so she spreads out her wings in an attempt to try and stop herself. But the beasts damaged wings can't take it and they rip, the small holes in the membrane becoming humongous in a cobwebs like pattern.

Ha! That's what you get for enslaving thousands of dragons and forcing them to do your bidding over hundreds of years! THIS IS FOR EVERY SOUL YOU TOOK! ONE WAY, OR ANOTHER!

Toothless snaps opens his wings and we fly back through a large hole in her wing, out of the way safely. The Red Death slams head first into the ground, creating big fireballs and definitely some explosive activity, that blinds us momentarily and I notice that it has suddenly got a lot hotter around us. We manage to dodge her back spikes and her tail spikes successfully, racing up the tip as quickly as we can, hope and fear in both of us.

Due to the force of the impact when the Red Death hits the ground, the tail swings up suddenly, and that's when we see the tails end. And potentially our end.
So much for steering clear.

I turn the petal desperately but nothing happens and I turn to see that now the prosthetic tail is all burnt off! My eyes widen in far and terror as I realise what's happening. We have no control left!
WE HAVE NO CONTROL! NO!

"No! NO!" I shout, before something big clips me from the right and I'm thrown from the saddle, extreme pain flowing though me as I slowly start to fade. I feel...weightless. I catch a glimpse of a terrified looking Toothless.

"HICCUP!" I hear just before my whole world goes black.

------- Toothless POV. -------

No! I have no control! What the heck?! This is not good! How can I get us out of thi--
I move my body to the side to try and protect Hiccup from the doom, before we are clipped and Hiccup is thrown from the saddle and into the blazing fury. I struggle through the searing pain in my body to spin around to dive after him.
No no no!
I manage to turn down and get a good angle, though I have no control what so ever. All I'm doing is propellimg myself through my falling to try and catch my best friend.
Hiccup! I'm coming! I'm coming!
"HICCUP!" I shrike desperately, throwing my wings forward as he gets closer and closer to the inferno and the ground.
No no no no, NO! This can't be happening, dragon gods, help!
I have to get to him, I NEED to get to him.

I use my wings, the Gods know I am terrified, to propel myself down to him as I screech for him. For my best friend.
Hiccup!

I manage to grab him just as fire jumps out at us, and hug him tightly to me with my legs and wings, before we're engulfed in flame, my only thought is to protect him as much as I can. Everything goes black as I slam into something rough, my wings and legs wrapped around Hiccup in a vice like grip. Come on, Hiccup. You have to stay with me. Stay with me. We're best friends. Brothers. I'm not letting you go.

They are my thoughts as I focus all my energy into saving the scarcely breathing being, my best friend. 
I'm not letting you go. You're gonna be okay. You have to! I can't live without you. I refuse to. If you die, then as do I....

I fade out to unconscious.
He is more then my Best Friend. He's my brother, my pack brother. In other words, he's my family.

Just before I fully drift off into the sweet, alluring darkness, I hear a distant voice and some wing beats, as well as an urgent squawk as smoke and flames surround us.
Be okay. Please.

Toothless: sorcery! You can't end it there!
Me: Oh yes I can! I love cliffhangers! And this one isn't even much of one!

Me: Exactly! It could mean ANYTHING!
Toothless: well just hurry up and get the next chapter out!

Me: The feelings not mutual. Now out Ya get! *shoves him out and locks the door* I have no idea how he keeps getting in here. Then again, I haven't seen him since like chapter 21..
