Chapter 35: An annoyed Randi and an unwanted yak.

I'm so sorry about the spelling/gramma mistakes and the typos from last chapter. I really should of read over it better!
I'm hoping this one will have less errors haha

Previously:
She stops, just in front of the bush I'm in, and I cringe back.
Just my luck.
"Oh, Gods. I know you're there. So, come out!"

You guys better be ready! This one is dramatic!
Now back to the story, With Hiccup!
Hiccup's POV.

Oh, no. Crap.
Eh- how can I explain this?
"Sorry! Just had to steal from my old village, build my friend two new tails, head back to the dragons nest and--oh? You don't like that? well, I wonder why?!"
Obviously, I'm dead. That's just PERFECT! Oh, good going, Hiccup! You've really done it this time!

This is just some big joke to you Loki, isn't it. "Lets torment the boy!" I bet ya got Thor and Odin in on it, too! that would explain my misfortune for, oh I don't know, MY WHOLE LIFE!

Well, what are ya waiting for?! Are ya gonna strike me with lightning? Have a giant bolder fall from the sky? Throw fish at me, or some other Loki gimmick? Do your worst.

I bet your laughing up there, aren't you! Well, why don't you go...torment a Yak, or something.

Third POV.

Randi Odindon watches expectingly as a loud rustle is heard from the bush. She cocks her hip with her arms crossed as she waits.
I can't believe I've gotta do this. She groans inwardly. She doesn't want to deal with people like this. After all, nobody likes to deal with this kind of stuff.

Finally, a boy emerges sheepishly, rubbing his arm and avoiding eye contact. "Eh...Hi?" He offers nervously, shrugging.

Then, out comes his sister.
(I GOTCHA DIDN'T I HAHAHAHAHAHA😂😂😂😈)
"Aww, no fair!" she exclaims, rolling her eyes as she and her twin brother scratch themselves to try and get rid of the pain they feel.

"Yeah, How did you know it was us?" Tuffnut exclaims, annoyed.
"I thought hiding in Plegma's thorn-only bush would be a good idea!" Ruff exclaims, pouting in the background.

"Who else would it be? Muttonheads. Anyway, you two can come with me to the meeting about the mass search. You KNOW we're supposed to be there!" Randi exclaims, pulling Tuffnut by his ear which effectively cuts off his sentence about him not realising that it was thorny until he found one in his arm.

"Ow, Ow Ow! Oh, I'm hurt!" He whines as his sister walks next to them calmly, with not a care in the world for her twin. Randi let's go after a few steps and with a pointed look sent to the twins, they follow Randi reluctantly as she grumbles on about how the search is basically over now and was a waste of time in the first place.

Hiccup uses this opportunity to:
1) breath again.
2) mentally apologise and say his thanks to the gods.
and,
3) run off towards the forest, trying to be quiet.

Tuffnut and Ruffnut drop back a few paces. Tuff checks that Randi isn't watching or listening and he turns to his sister.
"So, do you think we should tell anyone about who we just saw sneaking around and hiding in the other bush?" He asks, gesturing to the bush that Hiccup was previously hiding in.

Ruff shrugs in response so Tuff answers his own question.
"Nah, I'm sure it's fiine!" And they both smirk deviously, nodding in their silent agreement to keep the secret. They are the twins, after all, they do love mischief and deception.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Back to Hiccup's POV, first person.

I check over my shoulder about five times every ten seconds as I run out of the village and into the comfort of the dark forest.

Oh, man, that was SO close! Oh gods.
I let out a huge breath of relief as I clutch a tree, knuckles going white with wide eyes.
Oh gods. I gotta get outa here..

I move on and soon come to the spot where I left Toothless, panting.
"T-Toothless? Toothless!" I hiss, looking for my trusted friend as I spin around in a panic.
What if they found him?! What if he's hurt?!
"you .. know, there's no .. trying to look for a .. Night Fury!" I hear.
I turn to see Toothless drop down from a tree with a thud.
"Oh, thank Thor, Bud! Y-ya gave me a fright!" I exclaim shakily as I pat his head, catching my breath.

I smile slightly and bring out the tail and basket of fish from under my arm. (The satchel over my shoulder and neck).
"What'dya think, Bud?" I ask him. He sniffs the tail, nods in approval—since it is of better quality than the one I chucked together with the minimal tools I had (though that one is pretty good if I do say so myself), and so it should hold out better. He then digs into the fish.

A minute later he's done, so I climb on with the now empty basket, the basket full of the food, and the (now spare) tail fin. I click open the (lesser quality) tail. Toothless spreads his wings and launches up into the sky, blending in well with the night sky. I cheer loudly as we spiral up high in celebration, before we zip towards The Cove to clean up after ourselves.

We touch down by the now dead fire place, and I hop off. I grab the empty baskets and my spear. I put the spare tail fin, the satchel full of stuff, the food I swiped, and my spear in one of the baskets. I spend a minute to get rid of any signs of the fire, and then I use my knife to cut down all the vines, discarding them in the water so no one will ever know that we've been here.

I mount Toothless again and we fly carefully over the village- they would be all either asleep or drinking in the hall after that random mass hunting trip or whatever. Or maybe they're asleep after drinking?

We swoop down, drop the empty baskets in front of the fishing sheds and fly off towards the farms. We land outside with a thud.

"Go on! Get out then, you stupid, useless Yak!" Toothless jumps back as a not fully grown yak comes running out of the barn.

I gesture towards it and he jumps it. We fly off with the Yak, heading further and further away from the Island Of Hatred, and towards the Nest of Dread.

Finally! Freedom. Oh, thank Thor! I just hope the dragon queen won't fry us, or more importantly other dragons, for being 'late'. On that note, I hope we can defeat her and save the dragons soon.

-----(((((()))))))--------((()))------(((((())))))-------
(At the time when Hiccup and Toothless grab the Yak.)

Gobber's POV
Quickly, I duck into my shop in search for a spare prosthetic arm, having lost my favourite just then in a freak tree accident. I blame Stoick for deciding to have the search in the first place.

As I shove my way into my shop, I realise that something feels off. I look down at my feet, and I realise a set of footprints lay there.
"Hello?" I call cautiously. "Anyone here?!" I subtly reach for something I can use as a weapon laying on the bench beside me.
"I-I have a.. scrap of leather?" The last bit I say to myself, confused. "Tha' wasn't there las' time!" I mutter.

After close inspection, I realise that whoever was in my shop, is gone. I search the entire shop, even Hiccup's backroom, for clues. All I find is a few missing supplies (though I don't know about the backroom, Hiccup has way too many things in their to keep track of) and the fire coals are still warm. I eye the bench carefully. Things have been et aside neatly, and their isn't a single speck of dust.

Only one person would be that careful to clean up after using the forge. Everyone knows I'm a messy person.

I try to deny it, I really do, but no matter what I tell myself, I come to the same conclusion.

Hiccup.

Astrid's POV. (Same time)

"I have called everyone here today for an announcement!" Stoick exclaims from on top of a table, getting our attention. Pretty much the whole hooligan tribe is here, in the Great Hall. Us teens came early so we got seating, and so we are seated at one table close to the fire, Stoick stands at the fire-pit while everyone else is either sitting or standing around the hall.

"I have found a way to get to the nest! Something no one would ever imagine to be possible!" He announces and my eyes widen in shock. Cheers erupt around us, and I notice Gobber entering and awkwardly joining in with the cheers, despite not knowing what's got us so excited.
Oh my gods! OH MY GODS!

"What?!"
"Cool!"
"YEEEAH!"
"C'mon then, do tell!"
"How?!"
"Not a shocker. We're not big thinkers..."
"Tell us!"
(There were many calls from the crowd)

*flashback, Stoick's POV.*
AN HOUR AND A HALF EARLIER.
As I sit in front of the fire, my mind wonders back a month or so ago.

--
We all rush into the cove on my mark and seize my son and the dragon.

"NOO!" Hiccup shouts, "PLEASE DON'T HURT HIM! JUST DON'T HURT TOOTHLESS! " Hiccup cries out, struggling to get to his beast.

I watch as the beast struggles but is muzzled and bound successfully.

"STOP! PLEASE!" Hiccup shouts desperately.

"Shut him up!" I mutter through clenched teeth and one of my men hit Hiccup over the head with his axe handle.
It's his own fault for being a traitor! He finally had everything he wished for, but then he does THIS?! he brought it on himself!

His eyes roll back and he drops to the ground motionless. The Night Fury struggles Increasingly more and so more people move to hold the beast down.

He deserved it. He betrayed us. He betrayed me! He betrayed every human on the planet.

(Heh, I just realised this is a flashback in a flashback. Sort of.)

"To the ring!" I growl, glaring at the dragon

+++

"HICCUP HORRENDOUS HADDOCK!" my voice booms, void of any detectable emotion. Stoic, as I like it. As it has to be.
Showing emotion is showing weakness.

I glare hatefully at the boy, MY boy.

"YOU ARE ON TRIAL TO DECIDE YOUR PUNISHMENT. YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BEFRIENDING THE ENEMY. A PESKY DRAGON. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?"

"Guilty..."

+++

"YOU HAVE BEEN ACCUSED Of TREACHERY. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?"

"NOT GUILTY!" I hear him say, being very loud and clear. It shocks me and I grow more angrier.

"SPECIFY..." my cold tone is unwavering.

"There is nothing in Berks law books that specify that feeding, healing, befriending, and riding, a Dragon is treachery. How do I know this? Well I was forced to memorize the law books by heart with my life and well-being threatened. " He defends. Just because it's not written down doesn't make it okay! A dragon killed his mother. He KNOWS that! I can't believe he would do this!

++++

"They've killed HUNDREDS OF US!" I snap angrily, my anger now evident.

"AND WE'VE KILLED THOUSANDS OF THEM! They defend themselves, that's all!" He shouts back, challenging me.

"They raid us because they HAVE to! If they don't bring enough food back, they'll be eaten THEMSELVES! There's something else on their island, Dad... it's a dragon like--" he says but I cut him off.

"Their island? So you've been to the nest?! How did you find it?!" I demand, enraged. Enraged that this little traitor could find the nest and I cant.

How the heck did a boy like him manage to find the thing vikings have been after for centuries?! That's just ANOTHER thing he's kept from me!

"I Didn't find it! You should know that no one here could find it! No viking can. You don't know what you're up against! It's like nothing you've ever seen! I promise you that you can't win this one! No, you can't! FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU PLEASE JUST LISTEN TO ME!" Hiccup shouts.

"You've thrown your lot in with them. You're not a Viking. You're not my son!" I tell him coldly and quietly.

"You are hereby banished from Berk for 5 years. You have an hour to get a boat and be gone!" I add. "You will return after this time, a letter sent two weeks before you arrive. "

The whole of Berk gasps. The last time anyone was banished, it was Alvin the treacherous. And I was the one to banish him.

I watch him as he sees a sword that is laying in the ground, leftover from Dragon Training, and he glares up at me and he uses the sword to swiftly break his bounds.

"No. I hereby step down from the role of heir to Berk and I hereby banish myself from Berk. Permanently. Same with you, Stoick. I am no longer a Haddock. Oh, and two more things. I'm not a viking, apparently! So of course I'm not going to use a boat. I will use my dragon! " I watch him walk over to the dragon and cut its ropes. He pulls off its muzzle and the dragon barges into him. He pats its head, staring up at me.

"And secondly, just so you know, I was planning on leaving anyway! You all treated me like, well, a Hiccup! You all pushed me around, called me names, offended me, beat me, looked down on me! So, I'm glad to resign myself from the Hooligan tribe. Just don't come along looking for me when Berk is still sinking in sorrow, under attack by the Dragons." He exclaims, anger evident.

He climbs up onto the dragons neck, where a saddle sits, and looks at me once more.

Before I can properly react he has his Night Fury blow a hole in the chain over the ring, everyone ducking. He speeds out.

"So long, Berk!" He calls from above, before speeding off towards ravens point. He re appears with a basket a short time later.

"See? Told you I wanted to leave!" He says, gesturing to the basket. And then he's gone.

--
"See? Told you I wanted to leave!....wanted to leave.....wanted to leave!" His voice echoes.

But what he said about no Viking could find the nest...that he didn't. So maybe....you know, it makes sense, that.....the dragon was the one to find it!

*Flashback ends.*
Astrid's POV.

"Let me explain." Stoick says and the doors are pushed open as if that's the que. Knowing Stoick, it probably is. So the doors open wide and a group of Vikings wheeling a chained Nadder enter. The Nadder pulls against the restraints in a panic but they're too tight for it.

"So, I was thinking... And what if Vikings can't find the nest, literally that is....but dragons can! I mean, they live there! So surely they can lead us there!" Stoick exclaims. "We use the beast against themselves!"

"So, who's with me?!" He adds.

The whole room cheers and drinks are raised. I grin.
Finally.

"Ready the ships! We leave for the nest at sunrise in three days time!" Stoick shouts once the room quietens again. The whole room cheers once again and about ten or fifteen men leave out of the door, getting started on the preparations.

"Does this mean no more ridiculous work?! Cause—" a voice calls from the crowd. One look by Stoick shuts him up pretty quick.
----------------
Mystery POV

Carefully, I make my way back to the same place I saw the target last. I've decided that if the beast gets in the way, then so be it.

So, soon enough I get there, and drop down to land on a ledge almost completely silently. My gaze turns to the small cove.
My eyes widen in panic at the sight of it being completely empty.
No, no, no. I can't be too late! I CAN'T!

My eyes take in the whole thing. All evidence of them being here is gone. Like they were never here. I scold myself.
Ugh I should of been earlier! The only reason I couldn't go was because of the bloody Berkians. One caught a sight of me as I broke into a hut to gather supplies. So they searched the whole bloody island. Well, except for the tallest mountain. Otherwise they would of found me. So, If I tried to obtain the target, I would of been spotted. I had to wait until nightfall, and now I'm too late. I'm too late!

I curse under my breath as I move back through the forest.
It was hard enough tracking the target here, and now it's slipped though my fingers again. Who knows how long it will be until I track it down!

Well all I know is this:
I will find it, and it'll not slip through my grasp this time.

Thanks for reading:)

This chapter was a little weirder than usual.

Any suggestions?
Eh, that's okay.

Quote of the Chapter. This one's from this book, at the trial:
"Just don't come looking for me when Berk is still sinking in sorrow, under attack by the Dragons."
-Hiccup Haddock the 3rd.
