Chapter 22: A trial. (3k reads already?!!😯 whoa! Thanks guys:) )

Hiccup's POV.
I peel open my eyes slowly, blinking against the harsh light coming at me.
Gods my head hurts!
I shake my head a little to try and clear my blurry vision, and go to rub my eye, but my hand refuses to move.
......Huh? Where am I? What... happened?

My vision clears and so I look around to see that I am in the centre of the killing arena. Everything comes back to me suddenly.
Toothless! Is my first thought. I gasp quietly, looking for him.

I see him bound all over and chained to a wooden block, I let out a breath of relief when I see he's alive.

He perks up and looks at me, noticing movement.
Oh thank Thor! He's alright.

I look down to see that I'm on my knees with my hands cuffed in front of me. I look up now to see that pretty much all of Berk are watching me.
Creepy.

Including my dad. I stand up to face him, well I'm looking up, but still.

"HICCUP HORRENDOUS HADDOCK!" His voice booms, void of any emotion. He glares daggers at me. In fact, if looks could kill, I'd be six feet under.
"The third." I correct quietly.
You're my father you should know this!

"YOU ARE ON TRIAL TO DECIDE YOUR PUNISHMENT. YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BEFRIENDING THE ENEMY. A PESKY DRAGON. YOU HAVE BROKE THE LAW THAT STATES KILL ON SIGHT. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD? "

"Guilty..." I say, my voice unwavering. I shrug casually.
Though Toothless is NOT the enemy. The Queen is. Why can't anyone hear ever listen?! Dragons are NOT the enemy! Especially Toothless.

"YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT RESISTING THE LAW. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?"

"Guilty!" I speak again.
Some law we have here.
"YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OUTSIDE AFTER CURFEW. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?"

"Gods, Guilty." I reply calmly and annoyed, I honestly don't see why we even need a curfew. Besides, I've seen Astrid out plenty of times. But do I dob on her? Noooo! I roll my eyes. "Can we move this along now?!"

"YOU HAVE BEEN ACCUSED Of TREACHERY. WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?"
"NOT. GUILTY!" I say, loud and clear. It is apparently a shock to everyone.

"SPECIFY..." His cold tone is unwavering.
You specify!

"There is nothing in the Berk law book that specify that feeding, healing, befriending, and riding a Dragon is treachery. Sure its viewed as treachery, but is it really? Dragons are NOT the enemy." I exclaim.

"YOU HAVE BEEN FOUND PUTTING MANY LIFE'S IN DANGER. DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING MORE TO SAY BEFORE YOUR PUNISHMENT IS DECIDED? " My dad booms, moving on.

"Oh, yeah plenty, oh dear father! " I mock. "Firstly, Toothless was just protecting me! He's not dangerous! We don't have to kill them! They act out of self defence! It's not their fault!" I begin.

"They've killed HUNDREDS OF US!" My father yells, anger evident, dropping his stoic act.

"AND YOU'VE KILLED THOUSANDS OF THEM! They defend themselves, that's all!" I shout, getting desperate.

"They raid us because they have to! If they don't bring enough food back, they'll be eaten themselves! There's something else on their island, Dad... it's a dragon like--" My father cuts me off.
Oh Thor, Why did I say that. Me and my big mouth.

"Their island? So you've been to the nest! How did you find it?!" He says.

No...I didn't. Toothless did! only a dragon can find the island! But I'm not gonna tell you that. I've already made enough mistakes these last few days.

"I Didn't find it! You should know that no one here could find it! No viking can. But you, no, You don't know what you're up against! It's like nothing you've ever seen! I promise you that you can't win this one! No, you can't! FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU PLEASE JUST LISTEN TO ME!" I shout. I need him to see that he can't win this.

"You've thrown your lot in with them. You're not a Viking. You're not my son!" he says coldly and quietly. I gasp, shocked and I stumble back as if I was hit.

"You are hereby banished from Berk for 5 years. You have an hour to get a boat and be gone!" He says, glaring at me, "You May return after this time, but a letter must be sent two weeks prior to your arrival."
"Stoick!" I hear a Gobber gasp out in shock and disbelief.
Banished. Disownment. Wow, that's just.....harsh. Who would banish their own son?! Oh that's right. Stoick the Vast. Oh here his name and tremble, Ugh, Ugh!

The whole of Berk gasps. The last time My fa...Stoick banished someone was Alvin the Treacherous.
I see a sword on the ground a little bit away from me. I glare up at my dad and cut my bounds on the sword swiftly. I grab the sword and face my dad.

"No! I hereby step down from the role of heir to Berk and I hereby banish myself from here. Permanently. Same with you, Stoick. I am no longer a Haddock. You never cared. You never will. Oh, and two more things. I'm not a viking, apparently! So of course I'm not going to use a boat. I will use my dragon! " I walk over to Toothless and cut his ropes, ignoring the tears brewing in my eyes. I pull off his muzzle and he nuzzles me in thanks. I pat his head, staring up at my father and blocking my tears away. I drop the sword with a loud clang that fills the silence.

"And secondly. I was planning on leaving anyway! You all treated me like, well, a Hiccup! You all pushed me around, called me names, offended me, beat me, looked down on me! So, I'm glad to resign myself from the Hooligan tribe. Just don't come looking for me when Berk is still sinking in sorrow, under attack by the Dragons." I say. I hop into Toothless' saddle and gesture to the metal cage.

He fires a plasma blast that makes everyone duck. We shoot through the hole that it created quickly, using the smoke to our advantage.
Toothless sends Stoick the angriest glare and so do I, as the smoke clears.

"You all disgust me!" I call as we fly towards the cove. I grab the basket and sling it over my back. We fly back to the arena and hover. Okay so not my snappiest thing to say, but whatever.

"See? Told you I wanted to leave!" I gesture to the basket that I have with me.
"You are never going to open your eyes to the real world, so why should I waste my time and energy on you all? You've beat me down for years. Well, no more. I don't plan on coming back here. Goodbye, and good luck in your pointless war."
I say before patting Toothless as a signal to fly off. We fly up into the clouds swiftly, out of range, without a single thought of turning back.

So long Berk.

Astrid's POV.
Wow. Banished. I wasn't actually expecting this! But it is good he's gone....right?!

But then why do I feel so bad, So horrible? He's a disgrace. A traitor. Is it because?........ No.
No, No! It can't be. Of course not! No! It simply can't.......Can it?!

Yes. I do.
I, Astrid Hofferson, have feelings for Hiccup the useless. Oh Gods, help me! Only I could realise this now. Oh just send me down to Niflheim already.

I didn't MEAN for this to happen. I thought he'd maybe be locked up or forced to kill the dragon. Maybe have a strict curfew or something like that. Be thrown in berks dungeon for a day. I thought I would be granted the honour of killing the dragon and become a shield maiden like I've always wanted and planned.

I look over to Stoick to see his eyes wide and watery, with a small tear running down his right cheek.

He regrets it. He regrets banishing his only son!

Well, it's too late, Stoick! You did this. I hope your happy. I know I'm not.

------------meanwhile, in some far away land------------------------
"What is it? This better be important."
"Sorry, Sir. But our elder has had a breakthrough."
"Breakthrough, Hmm? Show me."

"The Prophecy has awoken."
"Which prophecy?"
"THE Prophecy."
"Who? Sigrund? Darkscar? Raven?"
"All three."
"Ah, I see. This has happened more quickly than I thought. How far until the first power?"
"Unfortunately that is beyond me. Only time will tell."
"Thank you for your insight. I'll be nearby if you have any more breakthroughs. Keep up the good work."
"Yes sir."
"And as for you?"
"Yes sir?"
"Meet me in the forest square at sunset, you should know better than to interrupt my rest. Mistakes have consequences. Don't make me think that hiring you was one."
"O-of course, sir. I-I'll be t-there."

Thanks for reading! Just a little over a thousand and a half words, this is!
So unfortunately I don't have credit anymore, meaning I can't hotspot to my iPad. And it might be MONTHS before I can get credit again, and I am not exaggerating about it. Well, unless I get a job soon. So I'm gonna apologise in advance for slow updates. I hope you can understand, because as you know I don't have Wifi :(. I'll try and make it up by posting more than one chapter when I can. But I don't know just yet.

Oh and on a completely different, and happy note, I just saw the last episode of season six of RTTE (as I write this. Aka offline. 28th March lol 😂 .) . As you guys know, I don't have Netflix. But on tv they had RTTE, and a little while ago they FINALLY brought in the last season. So I just saw the last ep!

I'm shoock😂
Johann is dead! (Finally)
The king of dragons, and the egg! (I have a theory, which I'll discuss soon)
DRAGO F-$*ING BLUDVIST! HAHA Krogan goes bye-bye
AND NOT TO MENTION VALKA!
MIND.BLOWN.🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Sad they left the edge, though. 😢
Rip inferno and Astrid's axe. Also what happened to the Gronkle iron shield? Did that go over too or..... idk.
Okay, so that theory of mine...
The egg. Does that hatch to become the ACTUAL king of dragons in the 2nd movie? Otherwise what happens to the egg? And if the Bewilderbeast is actually VALKA's, Why was it under Beserker island? Where was VALKA living if this Bewilderbeast is her Bewilderbeast? Does it leave Beserker island? This proves my point, ish, that the egg may be the King Of Dragon's in Httyd 2. Do the Wing Maidens actually know who Valla is? Like I know they said it's a friend of a friend, but were they just saying that to respect her privacy?
Well, on that actual cheery note, bye!
