Hiccup's POV.

I remember when Astrid and I were kids. She was practically my best friend...up until the bullying started. YOU SAID YOU'D ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME!
But your not, are you Astrid?!

I make it back to the village okay and unbothered. I avoid my dad by staying in the forge. Not doing much. I sharpen a sword for Gobber but that's all, it will be a nice surprise for him when he gets back.

I grab a basket of fish for Toothless and head back to the cove an hour later.

"Hey bud!" I say. Toothless comes over and looks at me with worry.
"I'm okay, bud. She's a.....friend, Ish." I tell him, tipping over the basket of fish. He gives me a disbelieving look but then coos at me as if to say "If you say so!" and begins to eat.

"Thanks, bud. Its good to know you care!" I smile at him. He sticks his head up and shows me a gummy grin before continuing to devour his fish.

Maybe I should stay, just until tomorrow.

I could actually have a shot at convincing Berk...and my father.....this dragons are kind, amazing creatures. I could train the Nightmare, right then and there.....I could end the war against the dragons. Then, once I know dad won't hurt the dragons, I can show him the nest! We can then come up with a way to kill the beast. Once and for all. The dragons will be free from the Red Deaths wrath and I don't be dubbed useless any more. I won't have to hide Toothless anymore.
Yes, I will stay. For now.
I take off my flight suit and put it in the basket, where it will be safe.

Astrid's POV

I hide behind a house as Hiccup walks past, with a basket.
Hmm. Odd.

Well, Maybe I should follow him. What harm could it do?

I stealthily duck behind houses and buildings as I secretly and quietly follow him. He goes into the forest and soon enough he walks into a cove....the cove. The one we were in before, where I dropped him. Before I chased him, before the flashback, and before I realised that I broke my promise. What's he doing here?

I hide up on a high ledge and watch silently.

I watch as a......Dragon comes out. I gasp in horror, but can't find my voice.
What?! Run, Hiccup! RUN!
Suddenly Hiccup speaks to the dragon, I can't make out a lot since he's mumbling but I do make out "I'm okay, bud..........friend... " He tips over the basket and many fish spill out, the dragon eats.

Oh. My. Thor.
Hiccup, the heir to the thrown of Berk, has befriended a dragon. But not just any, a Night Fury!
Gods, I have to tell Stoick!

I get of there quietly and run for the village.

Your going down, Hiccup! This is how you were winning at training and I'm going to expose you.

Astrid's POV.

"Where is the Chief?!" I demand as I enter the village, "Where's Stoick?!"

"He went to the great hall, lass!" A villager replies just as I'm about to threaten someone with my axe.

I run up there immediately and push open the doors. "Chief! I need to speak with you, urgently!" I say seriously as I spot him. He leaves the villagers he's talking to and comes up to me.

"What is it, Astrid?!" he asks.
"It's Hiccup. He- he befriended a dragon! I just caught him in a cove!" I speak.

"What? No, you can't be serious Lass! Are you sure?!" He stammers in shock. I nod grimly. Stoick stands up straight, furious.

"Gather the warriors! Capture my son and his dragon alive and bring him to the arena, find him if he's not in the cove!" Stoick booms, grabbing his battle axe and a bola.

"It's time to capture a traitor!" Stoick adds, before him and twelve men leave the hall. I hang my axe over my shoulder and follow after him sternly, determined to be a part of this.

The other teens come up to me when I get to the bottom of the stairs. "What's going on?" Fishlegs says as they fall into place next to me.

"Hiccup is what's going on. He's a traitor. He befriended a beast." I hiss to them. Then, I move up swiftly through the group so I can lead the way.

"I'm going to.....wait here. Yep, I will wait here." I hear Fishlegs say, in the same tone as Hiccup when he said "What are you doing here?"
He probably doesn't want to be around to see this.

Hiccup's POV.
I laugh as Toothless chases after a shiny light created by the knife that I just fished out of the water.
Never gets old!
"Ooh, look Toothless! There it is! And there it goes Hahahaha!" I say as he chases it. I put the knife away and he looks around for it. I walk up to him and continue to muck about.

Toothless lays down for a nap and I creep up on him, grinning cheekily. I flick his ear lobe and then burst out laughing at his facial expression.

He stands up and huffs at me. He picks me up by the back of my shirt.

"heeey....what are ya doing Bud?" I say nervously as he moves, looking back at him. He holds me high above the ground then suddenly......
Splash!

I shoot out of the freezing water, gasping.
Toothless makes a laughing noise and now at it's my turn to glare.

Then, I laugh too.

Astrid's POV.
We crouch just before the entrance down to the Cove.

Stoick makes a hand signal and we get ready. Then, he nods and we all rush into the cove, shouting battle cries.
Hiccup spins around from scratching his dragon to see us rushing in. Why is he...wet?

Ten men, plus Stoick and I run for the dragon, yelling. The rest of them force Hiccup to his knees and bound his hands behind his back.

"NOO! " He shouts, "NO! NO, NO, NO! PLEASE DON'T HURT HIM! JUST DON'T HURT TOOTHLESS! " Hiccup cries out, struggling desperately.

I hold down the dragons tail as they bound it in ropes and put a muzzle on it. The dragon struggles and we're barely able to contain it.

"STOP! PLEASE! " Hiccup shouts desperately. I roll my eyes.
Traitors shouldn't talk.

"Shut him up!" Stoick mutters and one of the men hit Hiccup over the head with his axe handle. His eyes roll back and he crumples to the ground motionless. I look away. The Night Fury struggles increasingly more and we can barely contain the beast, but to no avail. We have the beast secured.

Serves him right.

"To the ring!" Stoick barks.

HICCUP'S POV
I struggle as they bound Toothless.
No! No, don't! Please......

"NOO! " I shout.
Toothless didn't do anything!

"NO! NO, NO, NO! PLEASE DON'T HURT HIM! JUST DON'T HURT TOOTHLESS!" I struggle as my hands are bound behind my back and I'm forced to my knees.

"STOP! PLEASE! " I beg as they muzzle him and pretty much everyone is on him including Snotlout and.......Astrid.

"Shut him up!" My dad orders and something heavy hits over my head. I sharp pain comes from it. Everything goes black, with my last thought being don't hurt him!

Toothless' P.O.V
Lots of things are put on me, including over my mouth. Hiccup begs for them not to hurt me. But one of them hits him over the head.

"HICCUP! I cry as he falls down to the ground and doesn't move.

"HOW DARE YOU HURT HIM?!" I struggle. I manage to knock one into a tree forcefully with my tail before that is bound down too. "I WILL FEED YOU ALL TO THE QUEEN YOU USELSS VIKINGS!"

But soon enough I'm placed in a moving block of wood and chained down. They move Hiccup's shield and the rocks.

HICCUP! PLEASE, BE OKAY!

The push me out and I strain my head to see Hiccup being treated like Dragon Dung, strung over someone's shoulder.
I snarl, enraged.
I'm sorry I failed to protect you, Hiccup.

I'm so sorry.
