Chapter Five
Juliet: How was your meeting?
Ross: Boring, as usual. Thinking of you made it go by faster. I'm so ready for tonight!
Juliet: I'm already preparing, see you in a bit.
Ross: I sure will.
I turn off my phone and head down Main Street toward the apartment complex Ross told me he lived in. He said he'd be waiting outside for me next to his parked black SUV. As I crept closer and closer to the tall, beige painted building I couldn't help but notice that Ross had already changed from his evening attire, and into his night clothes. His six pack glistened in the light.
'You look stunning!' Ross told me as he grabbed one of my boobs. I had also changed from my hey violet shirt and into one of my spicy blue cocktail dresses, just to impress him.
'Thanks, and that six pack of yours doesn't look too bad either!' I tell him, forcing my hand to it. He circles my waist with his hands and I follow him into the beige building. My plan was unveiling faster than I thought.

This was odd, I thought. Juliet wouldn't miss the flight, I mean, she stayed here at the airport while I left to go sight seeing. I knew something was up and I knew I had to find out where Juliet was doing. Time began to go by faster as I went through the different scenarios that could have happened to Juliet. I didn't know the girl, but she resembled my mother too much. One thought raced through my mind multiple times. She was dead, just like my mother.
I urged myself to stand up and run out of that plane. I could notice out the corner of my eye multiple passengers looking confused and/or concerned. A young flight attendant stopped me.
'Ma'am, are you okay?' she asked as I tried to push my way out of her grasp.
'My friend isn't on the plane and I'm worried something happened to her. I'm going to look for her!' I told her. Did I just consider Juliet a friend?
'But what about your bags?' the flight attendant asked, 'They're on the plane.'
I looked her up and down. From the black heels on her feet to the red hair she had pulled into a ponytail. 'I don't give a shit!' That's when I pushed her out of the way and rushed out of the plane.
I pulled my phone out and began to text Ross.
Rachel: I'm on my way over. Juliet, my friend, hasn't gotten on the plane and I'm worried.
Rachel: Ross, answer my damn text!
Rachel: Ross!

He forced his hand up my thigh and into my dress as he began to bite my neck. I ran my fingers through his hair when I felt my dress getting pulled down. 'You ready?' he asked.
He took off my dress and unstrapped my bra. It was the first time in a long time I had actually felt loved, and I almost forgot about my plan.
'You like that, babe?' he moaned as we began to perform in his bed.
'I do!' I smiled. As I said this, I noticed his phone vibrating in the corner, and I grabbed it. He must've thought it was fine because he never stopped me, he just kept doing his thing.
Rachel: Ross, Juliet hasn't gotten on the plane and I'm worried!
I texted back as if I was Ross.
Ross: Are you alright? What are you doing now?
Rachel: I'm on my way over.
Shit. My heart began to pound at the thought that she would barge in whenever she did, but could she even come into the complex without him? I had to act on this plan fast.
'Stop!' I told Ross, catching my breath. 'I don't think we should do this.'
He raised an eyebrow in confusion. 'Why, we're having so much fun. This is what you wanted, right?'
His scruffy blonde hair and blue eyes kept getting the best of me, but something in the back of mind kept telling me this isn't what I'd call love, it's payback.
'Come on, Juliet. Can't we finish this?' Ross begged.
I took it upon myself to finish it here. This made him enraged. His muscles seemed to tense up and his face became red. His hand met with my face not once, but twice. 'We're going to finish this,' he demanded, 'You're mine now! You do as I say. You're my-'
I pulled out a knife, and slit his throat.
'Slave.' he said, grabbing his throat which was gushing out gallons of blood. Those were his last words.

The breeze was hitting my face as I ran down Main Street. I could see his apartment building, and my heart was racing faster than it ever had like it was in the Indi 500. Just calm yourself down, Rachel. Juliet probably found some guy in the street and she probably lost track of time with him doing God knows what. If this was true, maybe I should've just stayed on that plane. I'm sure I won't see her ever again. But that thought still lingered in the back of my mind. What if I was to turn on the news, and I'd see her face plastered on it with the words dead.
I enter the seven story building with hope and go to the front desk where an old man with little hair is standing. 'What can I do for you?' he asks, typing something on his laptop.
'I'm here to see Ross Harper. He should be expecting me.' I tell the man.
He keeps on typing and finally goes through a stack of papers. 'I don't know ma'am, it seems as if you aren't on his guest list.' He keeps surfing through stacks of papers, 'But hey, if you can tell me what floor and the number of his room is, I'll let you go up there.'
I pull my phone out of my back pocket and put in my passcode. 'Floor six, and his room number is 678.' I tell the man.
'That is correct. Now I just need your name.'
'Rachel.' I say, and the door unlocks for me to go to the elevators. It's a short ride up, only twenty seconds. As the doors open, I smell a horrible odor. The farther I make it down the narrow hallway, the stronger the scent is. As I get to his door, the smell is the worst it's ever been. I knock, and the door opens. The odor is coming from his room. 'Ross?' I yell out, 'Ross, what the hell smells so bad?'
As I turn the corner into his room, my heart drops out of my stomach. He's dead.
***
I left that room as fast as I could. That was only part one of what I was going to do to ruin Rachel's life. If she finds him dead, who know's if she'll go to Bejing or not. I might just have to stay here for a while and hope I run into her. Or should I go back to St.Louis and wait for her return at the end of the Summer? That's too long, though. She's going to pay for her sins.
