The very first thing Yeonjun did the next morning after he had taken his medications is barge inside the room opposite his.

He couldn’t even wait for Seokjin to bring in his breakfast first before he comes barging in into Soobin’s room and asked him an enormous amount of questions about his whereabouts yesterday.

The boy immediately went straight to an uninformed and greatly astonished Soobin, who appears to be freshly out of his slumber, and instantly bombarded him with queries without even giving a single greeting at all. A simple “good morning” would’ve been enough, but it seems like Yeonjun has other plans for the poor giant.

“Where were you yesterday?”

“Why weren’t you at the group therapy?”

“Where did you go?”

“Why did I not see you all day?”

“Did you suddenly become mute and forget to talk?”

“Soobin—“

“Don’t you think it’s too early for this?” Soobin interrupted Yeonjun after he finally got out of his morning trance. He rubs his eyes with his right hand to try and get himself accustomed into the lights already, “Have you even eaten breakfast yet?”

“That’s not the issue here.” Yeonjun, with his hands placed on either side of his hips, narrowed his eyes down at Soobin who’s still sitting down on his bed.

The younger boy only ignored him and attempted to stand but Yeonjun pushed him back down, completely blocking Soobin’s way with his figure so he wouldn’t escape.

Soobin gapes up at him disbelievingly, “Are you serious?”

“Answer my questions first.”

“Move.”

Yeonjun almost squeaks when Soobin unexpectedly pulled his arm to get him out of his way so he could stand up. The action caused the brunette to send daggers to Soobin’s direction with his eyes but it seems that the boy couldn’t care less as he just walks towards his drawers to take his pills.

But the thing is, Yeonjun just watched him take them out of the bottle and he could’ve sworn he didn’t once see Soobin put them inside his mouth.

He frowns, wondering about the other’s actions but shakes it off by thinking he might have just missed it since Soobin’s already drinking water when he turns to face him.

It’s not like Soobin would get the pills out and not take them, right? That would be really silly.

“So? Where were you?” Yeonjun repeated his question as he made his way towards the corner so he could sit down on the sofa. Soobin went back rummaging through his drawers with his back facing Yeonjun.

“What’s this about?”

“It’s about you not showing at all at the therapy. Are you even listening to me?”

“And? What’s the big deal with that?”

“Because it’s compulsory?”

Soobin turns around, his lower back pressed against the table as he looks at Yeonjun with his eyebrow raised. “And do I have to do everything told by them even though we all know it’s not going to help?”

There’s something about the tone Soobin used that caught Yeonjun off guard. The serious look the other is giving him doesn’t make it any better too. His hands unconsciously formed into fists as he stares back at Soobin, trying with his very best to figure the male out.

However, before he even gets the chance to, Soobin’s already looking away. “Don’t be too serious, I was being sardonic.”

You didn’t look like you were. Yeonjun wanted to say but chose it would be better not to.

“I didn’t show up because Namjoon hyung needed me for something. I’ll be there next time, okay? Stop dwelling on it.” Soobin was walking towards Yeonjun as he said that but his gaze was elsewhere.

To say that Yeonjun didn’t get intrigued by it would be a lie.

“Okay.” The older of the two mumbled and accepted the other’s hand that was reaching out to him so he could help him stand up.

“Now let’s go get breakfast, alright?” Soobin only received a nod after the words left his mouth. He spared Yeonjun a glance, pondering as to why the latter suddenly grew quiet when he stormed in there looking like he’s looking for a fight. Nonetheless, he didn’t point it out, assuring himself that Yeonjun would be back to being his voluble self later anyway so there’s nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, as quiet as he may seem, his thoughts sure aren’t. They’re circulating loud inside his mind and there are endless questions. Because the answer Soobin gave didn’t shut them up at all. The answer he gave only serves as a seed to sprout new questions.

Questions and doubts.

Yeonjun had asked Namjoon about Soobin yesterday right after the group therapy was done and the nurse was convinced Soobin was there even though he wasn’t. The brunette caught on to that immediately and made an excuse before Namjoon could be suspicious. It left him to be curious and confuse and decided he had to talk to Soobin instead.

But now, talking to Soobin just made him more skeptical.

Yeonjun looks at the back of the taller’s head as he drags him along the hallways, an unreadable expression on his face.

What are you hiding that you have to lie to me, Soobin?

___

Yeonjun has always been someone who doesn’t like making an assumption. He feels like doing so would give the person an injustice simply because of something claimed by someone without any strong supporting evidence. It feels wrong and unfair.

However, he couldn’t help but notice a lot of things.

He kept his mouth shut, he really did. He even acted like nothing’s bothering him although his mind is itching to confirm his suspicions. He held back because he knows it isn't his place to interfere and pry on somebody else’s business.

But then again, Soobin isn't just somebody else.

He is him— he is Soobin and that’s exactly why Yeonjun couldn’t help but keep on noticing his strange behavior.

This kind of wary thoughts started that day after the group session, when he talked to Soobin about his absence, when Soobin blatantly lied to him about it, which was a couple of days ago from today.

It began with a single lie and then it seems like some kind of a domino effect happened because after that, Yeonjun kept on discerning things that Soobin has been doing that he failed to acknowledge before.

Like how Soobin always has an excuse when it comes to their therapy sessions, how he was sometimes greeted with an empty room when he shows up at Soobin’s room unannounced, how he’s kind of avoiding Namjoon (which really made Yeonjun intrigued because based on the stories Soobin told him, they’re really close), and how Soobin seems to be hiding something in one of his drawers.

Which is why Yeonjun is here now, in Soobin’s room without him knowing, taking advantage of the male being out as he rummages frantically through Soobin’s table drawers because he couldn’t deal with his curiosity anymore and he has to know what it is his friend is keeping from him.

Yeonjun is aware he is wrong with this one but he thinks it’s the only way he could get Soobin to talk because each time he tries to lead their conversation into this, Soobin would dodge it and change their topic until it became forgotten.

And he’s done with that.

The brunette opened yet again another drawer, trying to find something even though he doesn’t really know what it is he’s looking for. He’s just searching for anything that could be odd to piece his suspicions.

He’s about to close the drawer again and move on to the next one when his hand pressed on something and it sinks. Yeonjun furrows his brows, confused as to why the bottom would slide like that so he tried to move it further and is amused to see it opened up and revealed a secret compartment.

Yeonjun’s amusement didn’t last long, however, when he saw the familiar shapes of white pills scattered in there. His breath hitched, thoughts became jumbled upon realizing there’s a lot of it thrown secretly there and that the syringes and vials that were supposed to be empty and used were just kept there, untouched.

He couldn’t believe it.

How could Soobin waste them like that? What was he thinking? Doesn’t Namjoon go there every day to make sure Soobin takes his medicines? So what the hell are all these?

His hand was just about to pick one of the bottles up when a voice spoke from behind him that caused Yeonjun to startle and halt his actions.

“What are you doing?”

Yeonjun turns around, attempting to hide what he saw behind him and close the drawer but he, unfortunately, isn't fast enough since Soobin just caught a glimpse of it and instantly got an idea of what could have happened.

His face darkens.

“S-Soobin—“

“Who told you to go through my stuff?” Soobin made his way towards Yeonjun whose heart is beating rapidly right now for being caught.

He tried to think of excuses but his mind isn't helping at all, “I-I was j-just borrowing a b-book.”

Soobin raised a brow, obviously not convinced and is very much seeing through his lies. “Is that so?”

Yeah,” Yeonjun mustered up a smile and took a step forward to take his leave and just when he thought he'd be off the hook, Soobin let out a scoff and that’s when he felt his stomach dropped.

“Stop lying, Yeonjun. What are you doing in my room?”

Something in the way Soobin said those words doesn’t sit well with Yeonjun and that made him annoyed. Soobin wants him to stop lying? Is he really in the position to tell him that when he’s the one who keeps on spurting out lies?

He faced the taller male, eyes staring back at him with a bittersweet smile, “You’re one to talk.” He sarcastically stated.

“What do you mean?”

“Oh come on, Soobin! It was you who kept on lying about your excuses every time we have to do therapies. You were— you were out there alone doing I don’t know what without anyone knowing and y-you are not taking your medicines and you’re not telling me the truth and I—“ Yeonjun stopped himself from talking even more when he saw Soobin clenching his jaw. He doesn’t know what to do. He’s confused and he’s worried and he’s mad because why would Soobin do that? Does he want to—

“Get out.”

“Soobin—“

“I said get out.”

“I’m just worried, Binnie. We can talk about this, please, just stop trying to avoid everything—“

“I don’t need you worrying over me. Just stop trying to meddle with my life, okay!? Stay out of it, Yeonjun! You know nothing about what I’m going through!” Soobin raised his voice which made Yeonjun flinched on his spot. The taller male saw how Yeonjun’s eyes flashed with hurt and how it glistened with tears but he blinks it away.

Soobin felt an unwanted feeling settled on his stomach but he chose to ignore it.

He has to.

“I thought you trust me.” The brunette whispered before he gathered himself and quickly made his way out, not giving Soobin the chance to think about what he had said as he heard the door shut close.
