It was after the month’s volunteer program that Soobin and Yeonjun found themselves inside the younger’s room. It already became their usual spot to spend time together now, along with the institute’s garden and Yeonjun’s hide-out on the rooftop. And given the cold weather these days, the other two locations couldn’t help but get basically crossed out of the list.

They could also hang out in Yeonjun’s room but it is the brunette who frequently goes to Soobin anyway so they just let it be.

Soobin sits there on his bed, back pressed against the headboard as he silently write something on his sketchpad; another quote calligraphy he plans to hang on the wall together with the others.

The comfortable silence he’s been appreciating for a while now is then cut short when Yeonjun called out his name. The said male has been busy curiously inspecting Soobin’s drawers again and just so happened to be intrigued with the younger’s picture frames resting on top.

“Soobin-ah,” Yeonjun repeated as he approached the latter who’s now looking at him with his work thrown to the side.

Soobin didn’t answer, instead, he waits for Yeonjun to settle himself beside him and for him to ask the question his face is indicating. He’s sporting that curious look again with his brows slightly furrowed and lips pursed together a little. Soobin has learned that much to know that Yeonjun’s wondering about something and wants to know about it immediately when he’s pulling that look.

When Yeonjun finally claimed the spot Soobin made for him, it didn’t take that long for the boy to rest his head against Soobin’s shoulder and get comfortable. The younger has been getting used to Yeonjun’s affectionate gestures by now so he didn’t flinch away this time and just let him be.

“Can I ask you something?” said Yeonjun, voice low and soft and Soobin could tell he isn't going to ask something irrelevant like he usually does with the tone he used.

In hopes of bringing the mood up and not turn heavy, Soobin attempts to be goofy and let out a low teasing chuckle. “You just did.”

That just earned him a pinch on his side.

“Ow!”

“That’s what you get for playing smart with me!”

“But am I wro—“

“I meant another question, you dummy!”

Soobin laughed when he sensed the slight irritation radiating off of Yeonjun and halfheartedly apologized.

He can’t help it. He likes teasing the other male and watching his cute pout take over his lips as the light tinge of pink crawls up his face in annoyance.

“So, what’s your question?”

“Oh… uhm…” Yeonjun trailed off, raising his head away from Soobin’s shoulder so that he could face him. “I noticed your pictures were just you alone and sometimes with Namjoon hyung, why—why is that?”

He examined the younger’s face and felt a sudden rush of panic surge within his veins when he saw Soobin’s expression lost it playfulness. Yeonjun’s eyes slowly widened, fearing that he might’ve crossed something personal that Soobin isn't ready to share yet.

However, what Soobin did next came as a surprise to Yeonjun that he was not able to take back what he said anymore. He remains stuck there, wide eyes turning into a tiny line as he frowned upon witnessing a laughing Soobin.

Why is he even laughing? Yeonjun was pretty sure his face fell just a few moments ago. Did he do something funny?

“W-Why are you l-laughing?” Yeonjun asked while stammering on his words.

Soobin shakes his head, his dark hair moving along with the small movement allthewhile still wearing a grin. “Nothing.”

Yeonjun isn't convinced and Soobin knows that.

It’s just because you look genuinely concerned asking that. Is it really that bad to have your pictures taken alone that you assumed something might have happened?”

Yeonjun, although a little bit flustered, still stood his grounds and tried to press further into the matter. “Is my assumption wrong, then?”

“Not entirely,” Soobin vaguely responded before he shifted around to lie down on the bed, using Yeonjun’s lap as his personal pillow. The older male looked down on him in puzzlement only to find his eyes shut close.

“What do you mean by that?”

“Let’s just say that I don’t really have someone to take pictures with, hence, the pictures of me alone.” Soobin replied with his eyes still remaining close as he bask in utter contentment on the feeling of Yeonjun’s fingers running through his hair.

“But why?” he heard the other questioned and it would’ve annoyed him by now if it was someone else trying to pry into his social life but it is Yeonjun.

And Yeonjun has his way into anything.

“Because Namjoon hyung is my only friend.”

The relaxing feeling on his hair halted and Soobin sensed the sullen, kind of defeated tone in that simple response and it made him open his eyes to see Yeonjun’s deflated figure staring at the floor.

Soobin doesn’t understand why he doesn’t like the sight. It makes him feel like some invisible force is clenching on his heart and he wants it to stop.

“What about me?” Yeonjun muttered under his breath but it wasn’t quiet enough for Soobin not to hear and the clenching on his heart suddenly turns into something else.

He smiled, hands reaching up to flick Yeonjun on his forehead. Obviously, the male wasn’t expecting the action as it caught him off guard and made him glare down at Soobin, holding his poor forehead. “What?”

“Until you, silly. You’re my friend now too.”

“Just your friend?”

Soobin choke on his spit.

He started coughing because of it and Yeonjun immediately grew worried as he helps Soobin to sit up properly. His left hand holds Soobin by the arm while the other rubs his back in hopes of helping ease the fit down.

“Are you okay? Should I get your tank?” The brunette asked, concern lace on his tone and is seen clearer by the look on his eyes.

Soobin shakes his head hurriedly, hand on his chest once he had calmed down. He then turn to look at Yeonjun, his eyes wide. “What do you mean ‘just your friend’?”

“Oh,” Yeonjun blinks, his head tilting to the side. “Am I not your best friend yet?” he added in a real innocent way that Soobin felt like a fool because for a moment he thought Yeonjun was implying something else.

And no. He is not disappointed at all.

“So that’s what you meant.” He mumbled which was apparently louder than he intended.

“Why? What did you think I meant?”

Soobin’s eyes flew wide open once again, heat waves rushing to his face and to the tip of his ears in embarrassment when he heard Yeonjun’s confuse voice.

Help. This boy is going to drive him insane.

“N-Nothing!” Soobin said, or rather, yelled. He even has his arms in front of him to block Yeonjun’s view of him that he almost pushes the male off of the bed.

“Hey!”

“Sorry!”

“What happened to you? Are you sure you’re fine? Your face is so red, Binnie—“

“I’m okay!” The panicking dark haired male insisted, although he doesn’t know what’s there to panic for. The look of bewilderment on Yeonjun’s face made Soobin forced himself to cool down.

He scolded himself mentally (also punching his own face for good measures) and took a deep breath before he faced Yeonjun again with an awkward smile. “So? Do you want to get out?”

“Okay.” Yeonjun responded skeptically, still a little suspicious of the other’s fuming face but decided not to dwell on it anymore.
