Chapter 13 ~ Kisses
• ~ (Y/n)'s Perspective ~ •
"You'd think a Thursday would be a little more calm... ok, HOW, did it almost happen?" June asked, staring me in the eyes with a blank stare. I swallow and shrug, not entirely sure about what happened.
"I-I don't know. We were just talking and suddenly we're both leaning in then Freckles sits up and we both snap out of it!" I spat out quickly, feeling like a nervous wreck. The world was just throwing everything on top of me, I mean I just met this guy and I feel like I want to spend the rest of my life with him!
"Didn't think Freckles was a cock blocker..."
"JUNE!"
"Sorry sorry." June apologized with a smirk. My cry? however, most unfortunately, caught the attention of Optimus who happened to be passing by.
"Is everything alright (Y/n)?" Optimus asked, kneeling down. My breathing hitched and an embarrassed blush covered my face as I nodded. June rolled her eyes.
"(Y/n) and Ratchet almost kissed and she's freaking out about it." June said blandly to Optimus, who nodded.
"JUNE!" I cried once more.
"What? We made a bet."
"OPTIMUS?!"
"Look, calm down. He's rooting for you to. You two are perfect for each other. Even Optimus sees it. And he's Ratchet's best friend. If you get the thumbs up from the best friend, then you gotta go for it." June replied, making me shake my head in disappointment.
"We practically just met. I'm not ready for that and even if I was there are certain things going on. Plus, how could we even say that we actually like like each other. We only spend nights and mornings together and barely the afternoon because he's working." I rambled, feeling slightly upset that they've dwelled into my personal life, despite the fact I'd asked for June to be involved.
"You and I both know that you're just making excuses. I didn't say hop on it, maybe give it another week or two before deciding if you want to try or continue to stretch it out." June stated.
"I agree with June. (Y/n), you are correct that things are going on, but that doesn't mean we can't try to make ourselves content. In life there is loss, but there is also love: in those we trust and within the family who surround us now. It is your choice to make." Optimus said, sounding like he had rehearsed this in a mirror 20x before finding us. A sigh left my lips and I nodded.
"You're both right, but I do need time... thanks." Optimus nodded and June walked me back to the main area. At our return, June was challenged to a game and who decides to speak to me? Ratchet.
In response to his beckon call, I retrieve my laptop from the ground and take it to the table and chair that tended to be my usual resting spot. I sat in the rolling chair and looked up at the bot.
"May I ask why you and June ran off?" He asked, not taking his gaze away from the screen. He was probably embarrassed for asking about my private conversation.
"Oh it was nothing. I was just talking to her about something that happened today." I wasn't lying, per say, though, which made me feel slightly better for not telling him the truth. Ratchet nodded, but when he went silent and took small glances at me every once in a while, I could tell he wanted to hear what happened. I tried to think of something that happened today, before something peculiar hit me. Something I hadn't put much thought into. "My boss asked me out."
"What?"
"He asked me out on a date."
"That sounds... inappropriate. I-in a workplace setting I mean." Ratchet scoffed, sounding oddly annoyed about it, but I wasn't paying attention much. I was just thinking about the short event. It had happened so quickly.
"He just asked me out, said he liked me and would love to take me to dinner. I told him I wasn't interested and voiced my concern, but he said he wouldn't be taking it personally. It was odd. He's still a nice guy though. Just... not my type I guess."
"First you say your not good in relationships and now you have a type?" Ratchet asked, it sounded rude, though I could tell he didn't mean anything by it.
"I mean everyone has a type. I just want someone who cares, who's smart, who I won't burden: though in the case I do, at least share problems with so at least it evens out. He's nice, though he's not the brightest, and he is definitely someone who views me as a perfect person. Not even in an 'your imperfections make you perfect'. He's seen the person I wanted him to see and he thinks that's me. I just want someone who'd look beyond that." I rambled, quietly, thinking hard, my brows furrowed tightly.
"I can understand that. Speaking from experience at least." Ratchet replied, a slight joking tone to his voice. A blush heated my cheeks and I smiled with a soft laugh.
"Yeah, I'm a mess aren't I?" He just smiled at me and looked back toward his work. Gosh it was amazing to see him smile... gah!
'I tell myself I'm not ready and then there he goes! Making me fall for him even more!' I huff. The blush was spreading over my cheeks, but this time, I smiled.
Shaking my head, I decided to turn my attention back to some dress shopping. I had a few events to shop for after all.

Night came quickly and everyone except for me and Ratchet were gone. Optimus went for a drive and everyone else was where they usually went. I had ordered the dresses and now was just doing some regular, for fun, online shopping.
"(Y/n)." Ratchet called, pulling me out of thought. I perked up my head and looked up at him.
"I need to do a few things in my berthroom, would you care to join me?" Ratchet asked, putting his servo out just in case. I nodded and climbed on, silently noting that I would never get used to this. Though, Ratchet had made it a point to somewhat cradle (when no one else was around, at least).
It wasn't long before we arrived at his berthroom and I was set on the desk. He started tinkering with the synthetic energon once more, that's when he started looking for something he couldn't seem to find.
"It seems I've forgotten something... I'll be back in a minute, don't touch anything." He said before leaving me alone in his berthroom. I didn't move, though I did look around his desk. It was quite messy. That's when I noticed a small (tall human sized) panel full of the synthetic energon on it. Curiosity got the best of me and I approached it.
I hadn't been planning on touching it, just taking a more raw look at it. Unfortunately, a giant screw had other plans. That was when I tripped and landed right onto it. At least, halfway. My upper body was drenched in the green liquid. Panicked, I tried to wipe it off. Though, it suddenly disappeared— like my skin had soaked it in. I didn't feel weird or sick, so I decided that I wouldn't tell Ratchet, seeing as he'd just get upset.
I returned to my original spot, using the camera of my phone to make sure I didn't have anything that would give away I fell in the substance. Nothing. Not a single drop of green. I told myself that I'd just take a bath when I returned home and just played a game on my phone while I wait for Ratchet to return.
Maybe 30 minutes went by before Ratchet returned, a device in hand. Whit it was, I wasn't sure, nor did I care. I was just getting tired and doing some work related stuff on my phone. Though, when I raised my head once more, I found Ratchet's holoform standing in front of me.
"(Y/n), I have a question, a-about humans." He said, taking a deep breath. A small smile fell upon my lips and I nodded.
"Ask away." I was taken aback when I suddenly felt his lips on mine before he pulled away.
"A sparkmate here is referred to as a boyfriend, correct?"
