20) "I Do"

As I arrived, I saw the door of Dora's room opening. So instead of giving up control and going to the bed, I teleported myself to the bathroom. The door of the bathroom was closed, so when Ginny came and saw the empty bed, she shouted for Dora.

"I'm in the bathroom," I shouted back, trying my best to imitate Dora's velvety voice.

"You are awake early today?" Ginny said as she made her way nearer to the door between us.

"Yeah... I guess I am excited for today." I yelled back. This caused Ginny to chuckle.

"Why don't you go and bring my wedding dress while I take my bath?" I asked her, through the door.

"Are you sure? You do not need my help?" She asked in confusion.

"Yeah, just bring the gown and come back." I was afraid that she will find the difference if she keeps making me talk. It wasn't easy to speak like a proper lady and I had a feeling I had already messed up.

"Okay. I will be back soon." Saying that I heard footsteps and heaved a sigh of relief. I stayed in the bathroom for some more minutes before finally giving away control at the point when Dora was supposed to enter the bathroom.

Thank the heavens that Dora was fast, for she made up for the time. By the time Ginny was back, she had already bathed and was sitting on the dressing table, doing her make up.

Ginny placed the gown on the bed and started helping her. It took them nearly two hours to finally get Dora dressed. After the final touches, she went and stood in front of the mirror to take a look at herself. Even I got to admit that she looked breath-taking beautiful.

Her wedding dress was an off-shoulder full sleeves mermaid gown. With hair tied neatly in a bun, a silver clip lacing her hair and her bangs adorning her forehead, she looked naturally stunning. She was giving off an aura of gracefulness. Her net veil covered her face and was a full length from the back. She was only wearing the necklace gifted by Lawrence and her engagement ring as jewellery. In all, she looked like... well I think I already complimented her.

After getting her ready, Ginny left the room as her parents and her siblings entered. All the boys were wearing perfect suits and were looking very handsome. Bea was wearing a sky-blue dress since she was the only bridesmaid for her. They all stayed and talked for some time until her brothers and her mother left to attend to guests.

After fifteen minutes, Dora left for Lawrence's house in a carriage with Beatrice and her father. Reaching there, Beatrice helped her perfect her dress before she took her father's hand.

"I am so happy for you, my child. Lawrence will always keep you contented. Your mother and I both wish you a blessed life, Theodora." Her father whispered to her. She smiled as they reached the back garden.

Immediately everyone stood up. She however had eyes for only one person. As she walked down the aisle beside her father and behind Beatrice, she saw Lawrence grinning at her. She herself had chosen Larry's suit. But him wearing it had enhanced the suit's perfectness severalfold. It was a black suit with a bowtie around his neck and a beautiful white rose in his coat pocket. He looked just perfect.

As her father placed her hand in Larry's, shivers ran down her spine at the contact. Seeing the effect, he has on her; Larry's smile just grew. "You look so beautiful," he whispered as soon as the minister started speaking something to the audience.

"Not as much as you," Dora whispered back. "I think I am falling in love with you all over again," she said giving him one of her genuine smiles. Lawrence tilted his head slightly and giving her his signature smirks, held her hand tightly. "You have a way with your words."

Before Dora could reply, the minister called both of them forward to say their vows.

"We are gathered today in the presence of God, family, and friends to unite Lawrence David Haddington and Theodora Dace Pembridge in holy matrimony," he called to the crowd.

Turning towards Lawrence he began, "Do you, Lawrence David Haddington take Theodora Dace Pembridge, to be your lawfully wedded wife, your constant friend, your faithful partner and your love from this day forward?"

"I do," he whispered with all honesty.

"In the presence of God, your family and friends, do you offer her your solemn vow to be her faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow?"

"I do"

"Do you promise to love her unconditionally, to support her in her goals, to honour and respect her, to laugh with her and cry with her, and to cherish her for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Every time he said those words, love deepened in his eyes. It was as if he was living his dream come true. He gently took a ring from his best friend, who was also his groomsmen and slipped it on Dora's hand.

The minister then turned towards Dora and started with her.

"Do you Theodora Dace Pembridge take Lawrence David Haddington, to be your lawfully wedded husband, your constant friend, your faithful partner and your love from this day forward?"

"I do."

"In the presence of God, your family and friends, do you offer him your solemn vow to be his faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow?"

"I do."

"Do you promise to love him unconditionally, to support him in his goals, to honour and respect him, to laugh with him and cry with him, and to cherish him for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," she whispered in the same tone as Lawrence, staring deep into his eyes. She then took the ring from Bea and slid it upon Lawrence's finger.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

As soon as the minister said those words, Larry grinned. He slowly lifted her veil and placed a hand on her face. Caressing her cheek and her lips with his thumb, he leaned forward with nothing but pure love in his eyes. Dora leaned forward closing her eyes as their lips finally met. Fireworks erupted deep in her stomach and she melted into a puddle, a feeling of pure bliss overtaking her. The feeling of him on her was all Dora ever needed. He completed her and he was enough for her. Their lips moved in perfect sync and Dora forgot everyone who was watching the newlywed couple. It was just her, Larry and their happiness at finally being one.

Claps resonated in the air as Larry slowly straightened, bringing her back to reality. The wedding ceremony lasted all afternoon and Dora had no idea whether to be happy or sad about it. Many guests came and congratulated them. Honestly, Dora had no idea who they were, but she didn't care either. Nicholas had bought his girlfriend with her and it was one person Dora was actually excited to meet.

During lunch, toasts were made for the couple's long lives and Dora couldn't ask for more. Many people didn't know about her sickness so no family member commented on it anytime, for which she was utterly grateful.

After lunch, Lawrence asked Dora for a dance which she readily accepted. As he lightly touched her, butterflies fluttered in her stomach. He snickered, knowing how he was affecting her.

"Get used to my touch, Lady Haddington. You will be getting a lot of it now," he whispered into her ear.

"I do not know about that..." she said as he twirled her around "...but I can surely get used to the name."

Lawrence smiled and gently tugged on her hand, bringing her close to him. "You are mine now, Dora," he whispered possessively. Dora however had no problem with it.

"Only yours," she whispered in the same tone.

They stayed like that for some time until their family called them. Their ship's ticket for their honeymoon was booked for the evening and Dora just couldn't wait. Their journey was a two-night trip to France and Dora had a feeling that these two nights will be really magical.

She was standing with Larry's mother, talking about nothing in particular when Ginny made her way towards her.

"I am sorry my lady," she said bowing towards Larry's mother "But I have the order to take the bride to make her change before she leaves."

Larry's mother nodded and pointed to the entry of her mansion. "Go and call my son. Ask him to meet his bride near the door. She will come there in a minute."

After Genevieve left, the lady turned to Dora. "Theodora," she began "My son really loves you. I know him. As long as you are happy, he is happy. I pray for you to have a healthy and long life. I give you both my full blessings. Come home early dear, even if he wants to spend long nights with you alone. I will miss you both."

Dora hugged her and promised to return home happy and safe. Both of them then made way their way toward the house. Reaching there, Lawrence was already waiting. "Son, your wife needs to change before going. She needs to enter the house. Since it would be the first time after the wedding, show her in." His mother told him, a smile playing on her lips.

"It will be my pleasure," he told her, winking at Dora. Then taking her hand he guided her towards the front. Reaching the threshold, he lifted her bridal style and carried her to her room. The whole time Dora couldn't stop giggling.

He reached his room and pushed the door open with his foot. He then placed her inside, closing the door as Dora looked around.

"How is it?" He asked her. Dora turned towards him to see him worried about her reaction. She mentally chuckled at him.

"Is it mine, or yours?" she asked playing along.

"It is ours," he answered, confusion clear in his voice.

"Well, then it is perfect," she replied with a smile. Hearing this Larry smiled widely.

He suddenly stepped forward and pushed her towards the wall. Before Dora could understand anything, Larry placed his lips on hers. The kiss wasn't soft and slow like the previous one. This was more passion and lust-filled. It was quick and hungry. As soon as Dora overcame the shock, she started reciprocating his feelings.

They continued until the need to breathe fully overcome them. Reluctantly, Lawrence pulled back.

"You need to change. I will go back. You come soon." he whispered. When Dora nodded, he placed a quick peck on her lips and withdrew. Reaching the door, he turned back and spoke "Once we reach the ship, I will not stop so easily." He smirked and closed the door, leaving Dora flushed in the brightest shade of red possible.

Can't say if I have any words to describe how I feel about this chapter. I absolutely adore what Theodora and Lawrence have and at the same time feel sad for their time being cut short. Comment a 😞 emoji if you agree with me.
