The Sea Kingdom
It was Johns 16th birthday, and Lloyd who was now 15 did not care. Since Lloyd and John's birthdays were only a week apart, The Fairy Godmother planned a trip across the sea as a birthday present for them both. John was very excited. He was excited to see what types of deserted islands he could find. Maybe he'd even find a new kingdom.
Lloyd on the other hand was not excited at all. Now that he was older he's gotten to learn more evil spells from Hagetha. He was way more advanced in magic now. Even more that John. (That's what he thought).
That day, all the Fairy Palace guards put all of their luggage into the huge ship. John ran onto the ship and looked out onto horizon.
"I am so excited for this trip!" John and said took in a breath of fresh air. "Feel that ocean breeze!"
"We haven't left yet John. Your feeling the fairies flying past you." Lloyd said as he got on. "This is going to be the worst trip ever."
"Why do you say that Lloyd?"
"Because we're going to be out at sea for who knows how long."
"Lloyd this is our birthday present from mom. Please try and make the best of it. Mom planned this because she loves us." John said and walked over to him.
"If she loved me, she would leave me alone!" Lloyd stomped down to the captains quarters and closed the door. The Fairy Godmother then came on deck and walked over to John.
"Lloyd will come around." The Fairy Godmother said. "Don't worry. Just have fun."
"I will. Thanks mom. This is going to be the best trip ever."
Once everyone got on the ship they sailed away. Mother Goose steered the ship and even let John steer a couple times.
"Hey Mother Goose, where did you learn to steer a ship?" John asked.
"The Otherworld. I helped Christopher Columbus sail."
"Christopher who?"
"It's this man in the Otherworld that found a new land." Mother Goose said.
"I hope we find a new land. That would be so cool!"
"Come on Lloyd!" The Fairy Godmother said pulling Lloyd out from the captains quarters. She finally got him out and he had to shield his eyes.
"Mother! The sun is too bright!" Lloyd said.
"Lloyd, you need some sunlight. You barely get any at home." The Fairy Godmother said. "Your always in your room."
"Fine, I'll get some sunlight."
Lloyd went to the side of the ship and he saw something swimming in the water. The top half looked a young girl but she had a tail. It was sparkling green and the fin was pink.
"Is that...A mermaid?" Lloyd said. John ran to Lloyds side and looked over.
"Wow! It is! I've never seen one this up close. They usually stay underwater." John said. "Great eye Lloyd. Mother, come look."
The Fairy Godmother came over and looked over the side.
"Wow, I haven't seen a mermaid in years." The Fairy Godmother said.
The mermaid saw them looking at her and she quickly went deeper under water.
"She's gone." John said and patted Lloyd on the back. "Great eye Lloyd."
"You already said that."
"I know, I'm just so excited!"
Lloyd kept looking at the water hoping the mermaid would come back. To Lloyd she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. He wished he could see her again.
"Oh no, guys looks like we're heading into a storm." Mother Goose said. "Everyone head below! I'll take care for this."
John and Lloyd went below with Violetta and Rosetta. The rest of them stayed on the top deck to help Mother Goose. They tried to get out of the storm but it was super hard. With the help from their magic they soon washed ashore on an island. The ship was wreck but they were all safe.
The Fairy Godmother ran down to the bottom and checked on John and Lloyd.
"Are we safe?" Lloyd asked from the corner.
"Yes, are you all fine?" She asked.
"Other than being very scared, we are." John said. "Where are we mom?"
"I'm not sure. Come on up."
They all walked up and they saw that the ship was all banged up.
"Mom look. It's a castle, and a village." John said. "This must be a kingdom."
"Let's see if we can find someone to help us." Violetta said.
They all got off the ship and saw that the ship was more beat than they thought. There were holes everywhere.
"Mom, can I go look around. See if I can find anything." Lloyd asked.
"Sure honey. John go with him."
"Mom, I want to go meet royalty. Maybe we can make a peace treaty with them." John said.
"That's fine, I'll just go alone." Lloyd said. "I don't feel like meeting royalty."
Lloyd walked away from the group. What Lloyd really wanted to do was see that mermaid again. He walked for a while and saw the mermaid sitting next to a man who was passed out. The mermaid looked over and saw Lloyd.
"Please, don't leave." Lloyd said.
"Ok...give me a reason." The mermaid said backing back into the ocean.
"Because I just wanted to meet you. I saw you swimming by our ship"
"That's where I know you."
"What's your name?" Lloyd asked.
"My sisters call me The Little Mermaid. Probably because I'm the youngest." She said. "But my actual name is Alena."
"Hi, Alena, I'm Lloyd."
"Nice to meet you Lloyd." Alena said and smiled. "Do you know how to wake him up?"
"Um I think I know something." Lloyd said. He waved his hand over the man and he started to cough.
"Oh thank you! I need to leave. I can't be seen by any human. If my grandmother finds out, I'll be in trouble." Alena said. "Thank you so much for saving him."
Alena kissed Lloyd on the cheek, and she dove back into the ocean.
"What...what happened?" The man said coming back to life. He then saw Lloyd staring at the ocean. "Excuse me...are you the one who saved me?"
"Umm, no I'm not. I just found you here." Lloyd said.
"YOUR HIGHNESS!" A man said running over. He helped him up, and dusted the sand over. "Prince Edward are you ok?"
"Yes, I'm fine. This gentleman here found me." The Prince said.
"Thank you for finding our prince. If anything happened to him, our little kingdom would be lost. Like the other kingdoms around here."
"Young man, do you live in my village? Because I don't think I've ever seen you."
"No, my family's ship got wrecked. We need help." Lloyd said.
"Of course. Ferdinand, please take this gentleman and find his family to the castle."
"Come on. I'll lead you to them."
Once Lloyd, Ferdinand and The Prince found The Fairy Godmother, John, Mother Goose and the Council they took them to the palace. Once they got to the palace they went into the throne room.
"So you are the Fairy Godmother of huge island with many kingdoms." The Prince said and sat on his throne. "I wonder why I never heard of it."
"Probably because your all the way out here in the middle of nowhere." Lloyd mumbled. Mother Goose heard him and laughed quietly.
"Good one." She whispered to him and gave him a high five.
"Your highness, we would love for your to sign a peace treaty with us." John said. "We could even set up some trade with our kingdoms."
"We are a small kingdom and very poor. I think this would be great for the kingdom. Where do I sign?"
"Oh thank you your majesty. I promise you, you won't regret it." The Fairy Godmother said. She waved her wand and a scroll appeared. The Prince grabbed it and took a pen and signed.
"You kind people can stay here until your ship fixed. I have my people working on it already."
......................
The next morning, The Prince invited them to breakfast. After breakfast, The Prince took them for a tour around his kingdom. John and the rest of them payed attention to everything he said while Lloyd just day dreamed about seeing that mermaid again.
"Lloyd are you ok?" John asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Lloyd said.
"Your highness!" Ferdinand said running over to them. "We found a young women who was stranded on the beach. She's not answering any of our questions. It's like she can't speak."
"Would you excuse me. You can keep looking around the kingdom. I'll be right back." The Prince and Ferdinand left and when The Fairy Godmother and the rest of them weren't looking Lloyd followed them.
They walked into the castle and there he saw Alena with legs. All she was wearing was a short top and a silky bottom skirt that flowed to the floor. Lloyd hid behind a wall and looked at her. He was so confused and happy she was here. He didn't know what he was feeling. It's a type of feeling he had never felt before. He cringe at the thought that he was in love.
"Do you mind telling me your name and where your from?" The Prince asked. Alena frowned and shook her head. "You must have been through a lot. Ferdinand, would you mind getting her a proper dress, and a room."
"Yes your highness. Come with me please."
Alena smiled and The Prince kissed her hand and walked away. Lloyd quietly followed Ferdinand and Alena. Ferdinand showed Alena a room and left her there while he got her a dress. Lloyd walked into the room and she got scared.
"Hey. What are you doing here?" Lloyd asked. Alena smiled and got a sheet of paper and a pen. She wrote the words, The Prince on it. Lloyd could tell she was blushing and was in love with the prince and not him. Lloyd got mad and stormed out of the room. Alena wanted to go after him, but she could tell the that he was upset. Lloyd walked down the hallway and bumped into Ferdinand.
"Lloyd, I just got word from the builders and your ship is fixed." He said. "You guys can go home."
"Great. That's all I want to do. Go home." Lloyd said and walked passed him. He found his family outside.
"Lloyd! Did you hear, we can go home now." John said.
"Yeah I heard. Amazing, that's all I want to do right now. Let's go, I'm done with this place." Lloyd said with attitude and walked down to the beach where the ship was. "Oh yeah I was right, this was the worst trip everywhere!"
...............
Back home (a few months later), Lloyd went back to what he usually did. Sit in his dark room and read. John opened the door and sat at the foot of his bed.
"I know about the mermaid." John said.
"What?" Lloyd said and sat up. "How did you know about that?"
"I saw how you looked about her on the ship, and how you looked at her on that beach."
"How did you know about the beach?"
"You never say I want to go look around." John said. "I followed you. You like her."
"I don't anymore. She liked that Prince."Lloyd said and put his book back on the shelf and got another one. "She even turned herself human for him."
"I'm sorry Lloyd." John said. "You'll find love someday."
"NO I WON'T." Lloyd yelled. "I will never find love...not in a million years. What are you doing in here anyways? GET OUT!"
John frowned and left the room. He took a letter out of his pocket and opened it. It was a letter from Alena. It read...
Dear Lloyd,
I've had a change of heart. I really do love you more. The Prince is actually betrothed. Please Lloyd I love you more. If you don't answer back, I'll have to do something terrible that I don't want to do. Please come find me, if you don't I'll be gone forever.
Love, Alena
John ripped the letter up and let the wind carry it into the Thumbelina River.
