Fenroy and Eleyna Fun Facts!

I was rereading some comments on a couple of my character tags and it occurred to me again how little you all know about Fenroy and Eleyna. Obviously, the best solution to this problem would be to write a book but... *glares at Feyla and the Magic's Memories outline I'm tweaking again*

So since I can't show you all Fenroy and Eleyna on a grander scale, I thought I'd share a few fun facts about one of my favorite couples. <3

1. Eleyna's nickname for Fenroy is Roy. She also still calls him "Captain" when she's feeling flirtatious or teasing.

2. Eleyna spent a large portion of her childhood at the Ivory Tower, home of the Archmage. Sedgewick offered to take her back with him when he went there for a mageatic council session, but she declined for both personal and political reasons. Given that historically, the archmage has been a position of political as well as magical power, quite a few Abreylians are wary of anything that might hint of the Tower influencing Abreyla's sovereignty. Eleyna distanced herself to avoid being seen as an Archmage lackey or someone who sympathized too much with Tower causes.

3. Fenroy's older brother lost an arm while serving on the Forest Guard.

4. Fenroy's family wasn't the original ruling family of Endingwood. Fenroy's grandfather was given the position and the name by Queen Alena after she stripped the original ruling family of the title following an attempted betrayal. Hence why Fenroy describes his family as "the infamous false lordship" in the short with him and Eleyna.

5. Eleyna's not usually a very touchy person but with Fenroy, she tends to sprawl on him like a cat who's found a new favorite piece of furniture. In their private sitting room, it's not uncommon to see her flopped across his lap and reading a book while he plays with her hair.

6. Glemdring is named after Eleyna's mother. Eleyna wanted to name Faren after Sedgewick but Fenroy put his foot down when it came to that. Since Faren was inheriting her name and title due to being the heir, she agreed to let Fenroy pick his first name.

7. Fenroy and Eleyna bonded very early by fey standards. A LOT of people (including their parents and Sedgewick) thought they were acting young and stupid.

8. One time after having their courtship dismissed again, while the nobility was taking turns showing off their various musical talents, Fenroy stopped Beryn from going again. He then proceeded to reveal a rather impressive singing voice while performing a love song and staring at Eleyna the whole time. For bonus points, the song was about Breyguard declaring his love toward Aarya and asking her to stay with him no matter the trial. Fenroy's father was naturally rather embarrassed when his big, guardsman son decided to musically woo a woman above his station in front of her parents and half the court.

9. Fenroy draws in his spare time and other than dueling and riding horses really fast, his other hobby since marrying Eleyna is finding artists he likes and talking her into being their patron.

10. Because of this, it's become popular for Abreylian artists and sculptors to "subtly" reference Eleyna when depicting Aarya (usually by making Aarya look like a more attractive version of Eleyna). Fenroy, of course, thinks all these idealized depictions look 100% accurate.

11. In addition to magic, Sedgewick taught Eleyna to dance.

12. Most people find Eleyna a bit scary. Fenroy can't understand this and thinks she's flat-out adorable.

13. At one point in her creation, Eleyna had two younger sisters.

14. Speaking of hobbies, despite her rather unemotional exterior, Eleyna has several journals worth of poetry that she's written. Unlike Sedgewick, she's better at writing about her emotions. Fenroy's one of the few people she's shown any of them. Beryn's another one because she'll occasionally swap critiques of very specific pieces.

15. Fenroy low-key hates living in a city. He'd much rather be surrounded by trees and nature and dangerous animals. Eleyna ships him off the Endingwood whenever he starts getting particularly antsy and he spends several weeks with his brother or his old guardsmen friends doing dangerous things in the forest. It's great until they camp out and have to listen to Fenroy and Eleyna coo how much they miss each other into their scrying orbs and play the "No, you hang up first!" game.

Annnndddd, I think that's enough for now. Hope everyone enjoyed hearing a little more about Eleyna and Fenroy!
