Haunting memories
"And, I love you too."
Our lips gently collided, passionately.
The night fell peacefully silent with Naruto by my side. I was overjoyed. Yet, somehow, I don't feel like I've yet secured a place in his heart.
Exactly what am I to him?
Did he really, finally fell for me?
Will he bear to leave me again?
I woke up, and from the looks of the dim room, I would assumed it's evening.
I looked around but the prince was no where to be seen.
"Naruto?" I called out. But only silence replied me.
I got out from bed with difficulty, now that I only could use one arm. And my body was aching, so I had to move slowly. I carefully opened the door and it creaked open.
I peeked outside.
Surprisingly, there were no guards outside my door.
Something isn't right.
I took light steps out to the hallway, and walked past millions of doors. I walked up the steps and into another hallway. Just then I heard Tsunade's usual loud voice.
I hastened my pace and followed the voice, leading to the room upstairs.
"There is no way she is going to marry that bastard!" Tsunade debated angrily.
"Talking about marriage.. shouldn't it be time for Naruto to get married as well?" A sweeter and softer voice from a woman replied. I assumed it's Ino's mother. No wonder there weren't any guards outside my room, they all were here, guarding the royalty.
"Naruto should pick a suitable marriage partner as soon as possible too." A man suggested.
No.. Naruto can't get married.
He's mine.
He belongs to me.
"Yes, yes! He should! Then we can have a wedding ball together!" It was obviously Ino that cheered excitedly.
Naruto shyly responded, "Uh.. I'm not ready yet." The voices that replied faded into the background when I noticed a familiar silhouette of a person as it passed the corridor into another hallway.
Father?
My attention quickly diverted to the mysterious man and my legs immediately ran after him. Quietly but rapidly.
"Hey, wait!" I called out as soon as I reached a different hallway from the room the royalty were in.
The shadow figure passed me again from the corner of my eye and this time my legs reacted faster. I ran after him, turning the same corner he passed.
No. It can't be.
It was an empty hallway leading to a window.
A window that was closed shut.
Am I really.. Hallucinating?
Were the memories I tried so hard to block out all this time, haunting me?
I refused to believe I was going insane. I bolted to the window and opened it roughly. I popped my head out the windows, looking around but obviously, there was nothing but the starry sky.
I shut the windows as I sighed.
Am I really losing it?
"Sasuke..?" A voice from behind spoke my name tenderly.
I turned around as my hands left the window's handles. "Sorry, did I scare you?" I looked into the blue eyes of my beloved. Naruto nodded confusedly, "I thought I heard your voice so I came to check.. What are you doing..?"
"I'm.." I coughed out. "I'm just looking at the night sky."
Naruto looked at me even more confused. "But Sasuke.. You have a window in the room."
Shit. I bit my tongue. He caught me red-handedly in a lie.
"Don't lie to me," he came closer, touching and stroking my cheek. "You were looking for me?"
"Yeah.."
"Then you must have overheard the conversation.. That's why you're looking anxious."
That's not the only reason why I'm anxious.
