Target#20-Velvet Scarlatina
I awoke from my deep slumber after the long and tiring day I had previously. I got out of bed and did my morning routine before getting dressed back into my normal clothing. I needed to have my coffee and cereal so I went down to the cafeteria. I was lucky enough to not have any classes today, since I just enrolled. Ruby and her team joined me at the usual table. The other team that sat with us didn't seem to arrive. They were probably still sleeping. Taking a sip of my coffee, I watched as the group of girls sat next to each other in front of me, except for the fact that Ruby Rose sat next to me with a cute smile on her face.
"Good morning, Y/n!!" She grinned happily while giggling. She's such a childish and carefree girl. I only sighed and cracked a small smile myself.
"Good morning, Ruby; Everyone else." My eyes went from Ruby's to everyone else in her team as I continued to eat.
"I forgot to congratulate you on your entry to the school." Blake looked up from her book.
"Yeah, we were so hung up about your semblance that we forgot to congratulate you." Weiss drank some tea.
"Thanks. It wasn't really that hard, but I appreciate it."
"Hey! Maybe you can show up to one of our classes! Y'know, so you can see how they go before you actually have to do work." Ruby offered me. I had to think. I mean, it would benefit me to show up to one or two of the classes I'll soon take next week.
"Alright, what do I have to choose from?" I asked her. Yang instead answered.
"You have Oobleck's class, Port's class, Goodwitch's class, and Peach's class."
"Isn't Goodwitch's class the one with the one on one fights?"
"Yep"
"I'll take that one then. I have... Something to take care of." An evil grin came to my face.
After a while of waiting in my dorm, staring at Penny's dismembered hand, a knock came to the door. I quickly put the hand away and got up, opening the door. Ruby stood at the door with her team in their normal clothes.
"May I help you?" I asked them, confused as to why they were at my door at the particular time.
"We're on our way to Mrs. Goodwitch's class right now. Wanna come with or did you change your mind?" Ruby asked me.
"No. I am going. No doubt about that. Give me a second, if you will."
"Sure." Ruby nodded as I closed the door.
"I'm going to have to teach those four bullies a lesson in that class. Hopefully Goodwitch lets me fight, even if I'm not in the class yet." I said to my self, drinking a glass of water before heading out of my dorm. Team RWBY and I walked to the small, indoor arena and took our seats. Glynda Goodwitch came in and stood in the middle of the arena. She looked at each of the students to check attendance and much to her surprise, I was there.
"Oh, Mr. L/n, It's interesting to see you here when your classes hasn't started. Why are you here?" She asked me. The students looked up at me.
"A friend of mine told me it would be a great Idea to look at the classes before going into them to see how they are. I'm merely accepting her offer." I said back to her.
"I see... Well, this class is meant for fighting one on one, or even more. It is training for the Vytal festival tournament."
"Neat."
"Who would like to volunteer?" Glynda looked into the stands to find students to fight. I then sighed and decided not to raise my hand, but to walk down the stairs and jump down onto the arena floor.
"I'll fight."
"But, you're not part of the class yet."
"I don't really care. I know who I'm going to fight anyway."
"And who would that be?"
"All of team CRDL." I said with a blank stare up to the stands where Cardin and his team sat. Goodwitch's eyes widened in shock from hearing my answer.
"W-What?"
"Did I stutter?" I looked back at Glynda.
"N-no it's just that it's not recommended for one student to take on an entire team." She pushed up her glasses.
"I wouldn't have told you that I wanted to fight them If I knew I wasn't going to win. These guys need a lesson to them anyways. They've been bullying other students around the school and harassing several Faunus students as well." I explained.
"I see... Well, if you're up to it. Will Team CRDL get their weapons from their lockers?" Glynda called out to the stands. Cardin and his dumb team got up and walked down to the locker room, getting their stuff before coming back out to the arena. They all had angry looks on their faces when they looked at me.
"Y/n... You don't seem to have an aura.. in normal cases, the loser is determined if they are either flung out of the ring, or their aura drops. So that means for you, your losing conditions are that your are flung out, or that you are unfit for battle." Glynda explained to me. It was true, I didn't have an aura. It's as if my stand is a projection of my aura as a physical semblance.
"I understand my conditions. Let's get on with it, please." I said, fixing my suit and tie up a bit. Cardin and his team had large shit eating grins on their faces.
"Hah! You.... heh.. You honestly think you can take all of us on at once?" He taunted me. I really didn't care what he said. Unnecessary talking is useless.
"Come on now.... make sure not to waste my time." I taunted them back. That must've ticked them off. Perfect.
"HEY GOODBITCH! START THE MATCH SO I CAN BASH THIS BASTARD'S FACE IN THE GROUND!" Cardin yelled at the teacher. She only sighed as my face grew a bit angry at the way he was treating his superior. I leaned down and touched the ground with my hand.
"Let the match, BEGIN!" She stepped out of the ring. Suddenly, Sky and Russel came charging at the opposite sides of my body. I side stepped them and set off a bomb on the floor where I just was, knocking them back a bit. I think it's a good idea to take out his teammates first to humiliate him with his team coordination. Then, I end the match with his defeat. Yeah... Sounds good. Dove ran to my front side. I simply pulled out my stand, punching him back to Cardin. Cardin caught his teammate and got him fixed straight.
"This aura thing you guys have is really cool. It keeps you alive longer."
"Says the guy with no aura."
"Unlike you, I don't need a handicap to fight. I can win my fights alone without having an aura." I said to him. Russel and Sky soon regrouped with their teammates. They whispered among each other before deciding on a 'plan' to beat me. After they were done, the three of them, except Cardin came at me at once. Killer Queen blocked one of their attacks and punched one out of the ring easily, causing him to lose. Then it punched another one in the gut, taking the wind from his lungs. It kicked him out of the arena, causing him to lose as well. The last one, Sky, looked at me in a bit of fear. I only sighed.
"If you want to forfeit, I wont hurt you." I said to him softly. He nodded and proceeded to walk off of the arena platform until I personally kicked him in the back with my own foot, sending him to the ground.
"But the ground... That's a different story." I added to my previous sentence. Cardin just stood at the other end, baffled that his team lost so easily, but it wasn't over just yet for him.
"You!!! Your semblance is cheating! It's another person fighting for you! I've seen what you can do with that thing!" Cardin complained.
"So? It's my semblance. I can do whatever I please with it."
"IT'S NOT FAIR!" He yelled angrily.
"Okay, jeez, fine you're so annoying." I put my stand away, leaving me vulnerable. He ran at me and swung his mace. I ducked and touched the front of his armor with my hand. I then jumped backwards.
"Why are you running, huh? Scared since you don't have your stupid handicap?" He taunted me. I ignored him, putting my hands in my coat pockets. He ran at me again swinging downwards. I sidestepped, touching his head, his arm, and his left leg.
"Glynda.."
"Yes?"
"You said I can win if I knock out all of his aura?"
"That is correct."
"Good." He swung to the right. I jumped over it, to his right side, I touched his right arm and leg.
"Why are you just touching me? Are you stupid or something? STOP DODGING MY ATTACKS AND DIE ALREADY!" He yelled. I just need one more. He ran at me one more time, quickly striking upwards at me. I ran around to his back, touching it quickly. Damn this is too much exercise. It was done, the fight's over I only need to activate Killer Queen's first bomb. I think I'm going to play with him a little. I walked up to him this time, instead of him coming to me. I walked closer to him, slowly so he could aim his swing at me and actually try to hit me.
"Then hit me. Come on. Hit me." I held my arms out, showing defeat. He smirked deviously, charging a downward attack.
"Too easy!" He swung downwards, only to be punched in the face by my bare fist before his weapon hit me. He stumbled backwards a bit as I walked forward more, punching him as I walked. It was a pain in the ass to have to use my own hands to punch him, but hell he wanted a fair fight.
"Y-You!!! You dare make a fool of me and my team? I guess I'll use my semblance now." He said.
"I don't think so."
"What?"
"This battle is growing tiresome. I've already won a while ago." I said, looking at my watch.
"What?" He was so confused. I only sighed and turned around, facing the teacher.
"This is what you and your team get for all of the bullying and for the rudeness and for the harassment." I pressed my thumb onto my index finger while my hand was clenched, setting off every small sized explosive on Cardin's body. His aura was instantly vaporized, causing him to lose.
"Useless. Your team is useless." I said to Cardin. He was already unconscious.
"The winner is Y/n L/n. Let this battle be a lesson to everyone! If you are in a one on four battle and with no hope of winning, fight as hard as you can and you might just win." Glynda announced.
"May I sit down?"
"Yes.."
"Good." I said, walking back up to the stands. I took my seat and watched more people fight each other. Soon after the class ended, I walked out, but was stopped by the bunny-girl herself, Velvet Scarlatina. I've never had a Faunus's hand before. I wonder if they're the same or different. I have to find out.
"H-Hey..." She said with a shy tone. I turned around to see her, hiding her face by looking down at the floor.
"Yes?" I asked her, hoping she would give me more than a simple hi.
"Thanks for dealing with them. I could have handled it myself, but it means a lot to me that you took care of them for my sake." She then looked up at me with a flushed face. She thinks I did it for her sake. They just annoyed me, I really didn't care, per se.
"No problem. Bullies tick me off."
"Yeah.. hey, I'm done with classes. Wanna go down to Vale and grab something to eat?" She asked me. She's asking me on a date, huh... This could be a perfect time for us to be alone. This is getting easier and easier as I go along.
"Sure. That sounds fun. I haven't had lunch yet, so I'm a bit hungry." I said, holding my stomach. We walked outside to the bullhead platform and took a ride down to Vale. We went down to a nice restaurant and ate some good sandwiches. Afterwards, we continued to walk and talk around Vale to work off the food that we ate. I purposefully took the lead on where we were going to find a place with relatively no civilians. Once we stopped, I took her right hand. Her face became red with embarrassment.
"Y/n..."
"You know how they say that the eyes are the window to the soul?"
"Huh?"
"If that's the case, I believe that the hands are the doorknob to the soul. Every time you shake a hand, you greet someone as if you are opening a door for them." Suddenly, all that was left was the hand of Velvet. The rest of her was missing, never to be found again...
